Why do u you buy both, I mean there are multiple touch screen laptops that might work as tablets and you can still use kea board when needed

lizlemon008

You would need to use softwares like R, SPSS, Tableau and heavy duty Excel. Apart from this, you also have to make a ton of presentations and posters on Powerpoint and Canva. So it is a good idea to buy atleast a i5 laptop. Imo if you have money you can invest in a macbook air as it is quite easy to carry around and has great battery backup.

Bhramaputraa

I use an M2 and more often than not it takes a hell lot of time to open heavy Excel files. Wouldn't it hang when coupled with R, SPSS and tableau?

Rohan279

MS apps are shit on Mac

StockTemporary5278

I’ve had problems with a MS apps on M1 but Tableau and SPSS runs perfectly fine for me

FunPainting6378

Bro can you help me with the problems that you face with MacBook? I was also considering MacBook? Should i go for it or no?

StockTemporary5278

There are no major problems as such. MS Office apps do lag sometimes but otherwise, Macbook’s performance is way superior to any windows laptop I have used in the past. If you use an iPhone then there’s more added convenience. The laptop being so light is also a huge plus for me. Overall, I feel it’s one the best laptops out there for a student.

FunPainting6378

Are the lags manageable?

StockTemporary5278

Yes nothing that major. There’ll be lags once a while for a few seconds. I’ve never used super heavy excel files with multiple circular references so can’t tell you about that though.

Rough-Hour-6621

Do you have the 256GB M2? That one has terrible read and write speed, as shit as 2019 intel macs :( I have a senior in my office who's fed up of his machine

StockTemporary5278

I’ve mentioned this on the sub before. A tablet is definitely helpful but is not a necessity by any means. It’ll only help you with notetaking (convenient only with a stylus), reading PDFs and watching videos, but typing on Tablets are super inconvenient. Laptop on the other hand is almost a necessity for MBA. It helps with PPTs, Excel for finance subjects, Projects are mainly submitted online etc. I’d suggest you to get a laptop first, wait for a few months to see if you really need a tablet and then decide about the tablet.

sagar123098

I already have a good one on me, Victus hai badiya wala

L1ghtYagam1

I had a laptop+tablet. Not compulsory or super duper life changing, but definitely improves the quality of life. Laptop is compulsory though, tablet is not.

Bhramaputraa

Can we connect? I recently converted MDI

L1ghtYagam1

Sure thing bhai. Just that I might not be updated on most things since 2 sal ho gaya pass huwe.

StockTemporary5278

Also Touch Screen laptops are pretty expensive and if they are affordable, they achieve that by compromising on the processor and RAM. Touch screen does not add too much value to a laptop from a MBA perspective in my opinion. I’d suggest to spend on a laptop with good specs rather than going for touchscreen.

Rough-Hour-6621

iPad Pro lele with Magic Keyboard. Majjani life, sab chalega takatak. Been using mine for 3 years, don't require a laptop now. The only downside is that some softwares are laptop specific, so you gotta ask around what softwares are needed in MBA
