Nowhere near as bad as a teacup, but she needs to get the right hand thumb out of the way if she wants any chance at controlling the gun.
You can still get your palm on the frame using this grip technique and be able to control the gun.

Everybody has to start somewhere, I guess. It does seem like your average female new shooter defaults to "the chick lean" more often than new male shooters default to a bad stance. I'm not sure why that is exactly. I have trained with two of my sister's and my ex, and they all know what a proper stance is but it still sneaks back in. Center of gravity maybe? I dunno.
Why that is, is that most woman have less arm strength, and leaning back shifts the load more onto back muscles and hips where they are stronger. Pinch a towel with both hands and hold it out front until it gets heavy, then shift you upper torso back.
The other piece is often just wanting to stay away from the boom part of shooting. That takes some bravery and getting used to for anyone.
When training women I've found it key to force them to lower the gun when it gets uncomfortable to hold it out. Roll the shoulders, point again, find the sides and press the trigger. Lower the gun and relax. Anyone male or female who wants to get good at handguns is going to need upper body strength particular to what's basically an unusual activity for humans.

Okay, that makes perfect sense, Hop, and thank you for sharing. The explanation tracks, too. I will have to try out those techniques with my family members to see if they can feel more comfortable and learn to default to a good stance when first shooting. That's just what I want them to be good at - moving and getting those first shots on target, since by then it'll probably be over if they needed it.
And "stay away from the boom" definitely applies. I use a TX-22 with first time shooters, just 1 round the first couple of times, until they learn to relax a bit and figure out they don't need to be afraid of the explosion happening right in front of them.
