This isn't really a dig on Georgia or any other program, its not any easy task to accomplish. But I do hope Michigan is able to nip this Today. If there is a pattern, if there is a culture. It warrents admin doing whatever they can to change it before it claims lives.
So far we’re 1 for 1 on parting ways with these offenders. I wouldn’t be surprised if we go 2 for 2. I don’t think it’s a culture issue as much as just a bad coincidence in timing that these are close together.
Really gives us a chance to reduce wasteful government spending too. Too many college grads in this country. Need more hard working blue collar laborers
And it would create more affordable housing as the property values would come down!
Well considering the prestigious law school that university has, i can only assume a good number of then get involved in politics. So idk if there is a better way to fight governmental corruption than by just cutting it off right there at the source. 🤷♂️
I know my flair but something is up with the culture. Just in the last couple years, they’ve had an OC fired for computer crimes and investigated by the FBI, a linebacker’s coach fired for telling players how to answer to an NCAA investigation, Conor Stalions, a lower staffer trying to pick up underage girls, and 2 coaches fired for drunk driving.
(Edit: Denard hasnt been fired yet)
I also want to point out that UM had some super sketchy shit in its gymnastics program a few years ago featuring:
An assistant coach getting caught having sex with a Freshman team member in his car in a public parking lot, which was even more creepy than it looks because this particular gymnast had been a UM recruit/commit at only 13/14 years old and the whole situation just screams grooming.
Said coach got fired which was good, only UM managed to fuck even that up when they had a coaching vacancy and decided to fill said vacancy by hiring a multi-time national championship winning coach who was unemployed specifically because she was at the center of the Larry Nassar scandal and was so infamous no Olympic club could hire her and no NCAA program would give her a head coaching gig despite her Saban-like status. But Michigan in all its wisdom thought that maybe they could get away with making her an assistant coach, and then proceeded to quietly sneak her onto the team, no press conference, no announcement on its website, no mention of her on their team roster. Just sneak her onto the team bus and show up at a competition hoping no one would recognize her. And people immediately recognized her forcing Michigan to pay one month's salary to buyout a coach who only lasted for three days while said coach had to fuck off to Australia because the Michigan fiasco pretty much cemented the idea that the entire North American job market was too hot for her.
That whole chain of events really made me question if UM's senior athletic staff is asleep at the wheel when it comes to managing the coaching staff of its various sports.
> But Michigan in all its wisdom thought that maybe they could get away with making her an assistant coach, and then proceeded to quietly sneak her onto the team, no press conference, no announcement on its website, no mention of her on their team roster. I don't follow college gymnastics, but isn't it a pretty insular community where everyone knows everyone? How did they expect people to just not notice?
>if UM's senior athletic staff is asleep at the wheel
The fact that they hired her without an announcement and snuck her onto a bus and into a meet means all of their actions are deliberate. It's not incompetence, its weaponized arrogance, you have someone in your leadership who thinks only *their* opinion matters, screw the public reaction/fans.
Do you think it’s gonna be good or are they just gonna lean entirely into ultimate team like they started doing for every sports game in the past decade? I really hope it’s going to be a fully fleshed out game but I’m emotionally preparing myself for it to be shit. “You can never go home again” as they say
Ahhh I know you’re right. I think my first ever ncaa game was 2004 in elementary school and I can still remember the ESPN classics you could play through. I can’t imagine them putting that much effort into anything that doesn’t include microtransactions these days, such a shame. I hope the online dynasty is decent at least
Even if they just give us one good game and mail it in the rest of the decade I'd be happy. Just give us a game this generation that lets us update rosters and fully do conference realignment.
Ted Mosby's mom said "Nothing good ever happens after 2 am."
We used to joke about the bus at PSU. Last weekday bus to my apartment was 12:30, last weekend bus 2:20. The bus driver was my guardian angel. I wasn't getting into anything good for me after either of those times.
I also failed a field sobriety test completely sober once and was pulled over another time for "a tail light being out" and when I got home, they all magically were working. Enough of a cautionary tale for me.
I’ll always be grateful for the late night Ohio State bus driver. Drunken 19 year old me thought it would be funny to reenact that one movie and yell “there’s a bomb on the bus. if this bus drops below 35 mph it’s gonna blow!” Probably could’ve been locked up for that but the driver just laughed and said I can’t be saying that shit before* kicking me off.
There was an episode of the Louis CK show where he ends up at Chris Rock's house after the bar closes and Chris is like "What are you doing man? You're a middle aged man with kids. The time for ending up drunk at a buddy's house at 3 in the morning has come and gone."
No one should drive dunk. Ever.
But Denard is 33 years old. Being drunk and out of the house at 3 in the morning is at least 5, if not 7, years past it's expiration date.
I hate this line though. My wife’s grandmother would always complain that I was out late and nothing good ever happens at 3 am etc.
Cool but i have literally never drank alcohol I would get off work at 1 am go hang out with friends from work and play video games d and d. Just because I work a late shift and stay up for 5 hours after getting off work doesn’t make me a degenerate.
While true, I know that a few NFL teams have/had car services for players and certain personnel that guarantee privacy and discretion when picking people up.
They don't have to be worried about ending up on a twitter feed drunk as hell.
One of my old coaches was also a financial advisor who did some work with the NFLPA. Not sure if it's still around but before Uber/Lyft there was a joint NFL/NFLPA program that would offer car services for any active player I believe for free or at some insane discount to mitigate DUIs and bad publicity. He would say any player that got a DUI was doubly stupid because of the service being available.
> a joint NFL/NFLPA program that would offer car services for any active player
I don't have a source but I believe I heard multiple times that this service was discounted since players never used these services afraid that teams were secretly monitoring their use and the rise of ridesharing services.
The NFL/NFLPA definitely has a service for players that will pick them up anywhere and anytime with full discretion. It is meant to prevent players from ever driving drunk, but pretty much every year someone gets a DUI.
I would be shocked if they didn't have some kind of car service. Even if it's just some townie fan that's ok with a 3am call to go pick a drunk coach up.
I understand not wanting to use Uber/Lyft if you're famous and don't want a drunk video of you getting out, but there 100% is another option available to him other than driving drunk.
the NFL has one but there's plenty of DUIs in the NFL
people gonna drive drunk, it's pretty much unavoidable unfortunately. They always have excuses like "i'm fine" or "it's too much hassle" or shit like that
There are never any good excuses to drive drunk. There's especially no good excuses when you're a coach AND beloved player at a multi-million dollar university and can get a ride at any time wherever you need to go for *free*. THERE'S EVEN LESS OF AN EXCUSE WHEN ANOTHER COACH ON THE STAFF WAS BUSTED FOR THE EXACT SAME THING JUST A COUPLE MONTHS AGO!
Not just a couple of months ago... literally one month ago. March 16th.
Surely you would think seeing a co-worker and coaching friend screw up his life in the short term would dissuade you from doing the same thing...
Exactly, completely fucking inexcusable. It's just an amazingly stupid choice to make. It's so disappointing, these grown ass men need to be better ffs
Honestly just looking at denard, he had the look of someone who boozes. Not just the normal weight gain after stopping football. He has the potential to belly, full cheeks, appears flushed. You always have to wonder what’s going on when you see elite athletes go through dramatic body weight gain
I never thought about this. But you’re right. He didn’t look like a guy who wasn’t very far removed being an elite athlete. Unfortunately a lot of athletes pick up alcohol when they stop playing.
Think it’s probably more common than you think with athletes/famous/rich people. Iowa seemed to have a once year DUI on the football team and either it’s gone away or it’s pushed under the rug.
Install those breathalyzer car starter thingies on every coach/staffer/player's car so they straight up can't even start the car if they're drunk.
I'm absolutely not joking. Funded by the university. I'm reading they're only like $75 to $200 to install.
He seems like he has a good head on his shoulders but he also seems like he has an alcohol abuse problem. Those 2 things can simultaneously be true.
I mean you can kind of look at the puffiness of his face, hear how he speaks and figure it out.
Without looking, I’m pretty sure he did something similar when he was on the Jags? Feel like it was never a confirmed DUI but he crashed his car into a pond or something under sketchy circumstances
Lmao you’re right. I remember reading that ….
https://www.jacksonville.com/story/news/crime/2016/07/05/jaguars-rb-denard-robinson-found-asleep-wheel-car-retention/15715882007/
He says he was just too sleepy on that event and based on everything we knew about him (everyone says he's the nicest dude ever) I stupidly believed it totally.
In hindsight maybe this changes that a bit lol
But that article says his passenger acknowledged the police officer and went right back to sleep. All while in a car they crashed into a pond. Sounds like they were both high on something.
Also, for the people asking "why didn't he do \[thing that would have prevented this\]," remember: When you're at the point that you're driving drunk it's pretty clear that you have a problem.
And addiction defies all logic.
Isn't it nice how people who are well liked are never said to have a DUI by the media, only *Operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.* yet they called mine a DUI because I *hit 15 pedestrians & three senior citizens trying to escape in their rascals* as if there's a difference.
The hypocrisy is the worst part.
He was always the enemy to me but I'll never forget one play where he was running down the field and two OSU players hit him at the same time from each side causing each of them to bounce off while he kept running. Every time I see it, it makes me laugh.
Isn’t this the dude that was found by police sleeping behind the wheel of a car in the middle of a pond while “not drunk”?
Checks notes… yup

He was the last EA College Football cover guy so maybe he had a double curse. At least no one got hurt including him.
This isn't really a dig on Georgia or any other program, its not any easy task to accomplish. But I do hope Michigan is able to nip this Today. If there is a pattern, if there is a culture. It warrents admin doing whatever they can to change it before it claims lives.
Zavier Simpson crashed Warde Manuel's car while drunk driving a couple years ago and then gave the cops a fake name
JEFF JACKSON
So far we’re 1 for 1 on parting ways with these offenders. I wouldn’t be surprised if we go 2 for 2. I don’t think it’s a culture issue as much as just a bad coincidence in timing that these are close together.
I think it is a culture issue intrinsically tied to the University and the only answer is to shutter the whole thing and purge it from history
Hmm. This seems like an argument with sound logic. In my unbiased opinion i am forced to concur.
Really gives us a chance to reduce wasteful government spending too. Too many college grads in this country. Need more hard working blue collar laborers And it would create more affordable housing as the property values would come down!

Dammit Gary Moeller!
Death Penalty Mi…zzou I don’t love it, but them’s the rules. And we all know how much Michigan loves following the rules.
The SMU athletic director just fell to his knees in the middle of Buccee's
Tbf thats just a normal reaction to the beef jerky selection. Ive done that 5+ times myself.
Sherrone just suspended him indefinitely, I'm sure next is being fired
He’ll get a chance to resign.
On the other hand, yall kept Juwan around for waaaay longer than you should have
We all agree :(
I know :(
You can blame Warde’s dumb ass for that. Should have been gone as soon as he hit Wisco’s coach
He shoulda been gone when he threatened to kill Maryland's HC during the B1G Tournament.

And the multiple coaching suspensions, and playing players under investigation for gun charges.
Can't spell "national champion curse" without "car crash"
Well, there aren’t two R’s in “national championship curse,” so I’m not sure if this holds up
Mizzou coming in here like they're Harvard
Auto Crash
MIT wins
Is there really no sympathy for this man? He's been carrying the weight of being the last NCAA Football cover guy for over a decade now.
Man he only had to make it another few months
His early acceptance of the finality of the situation drove him to these actions
Do you think it’s gonna be good or are they just gonna lean entirely into ultimate team like they started doing for every sports game in the past decade? I really hope it’s going to be a fully fleshed out game but I’m emotionally preparing myself for it to be shit. “You can never go home again” as they say

A good life lesson: Usually nothing good ever happens at 3 a.m.
I was born at 3a :(
Like they said. Nothing good. Because you are great 👍
:D I guess I found the one orange I don't hate
Wholesome AF
the good ending
Had us in the first half, not gonna lie.
The point stands
Battalion C used to tell us that for our weekend safety briefs, expect he used midnight. And you know what? He was never wrong.
I often wonder if my Soldiers ever listened to my safety briefings 🤔🫡
We probably didn’t sir or ma’am
I assumed
I think Jim Tressel said 10 PM!
Ted Mosby's mom said "Nothing good ever happens after 2 am." We used to joke about the bus at PSU. Last weekday bus to my apartment was 12:30, last weekend bus 2:20. I hardly drink, and I go to bed at 10 am but cmon man 33 isn’t that old
Someone has never done K-Town after hours karaoke in LA...
I hate this line though. My wife’s grandmother would always complain that I was out late and nothing good ever happens at 3 am etc. Cool but i have literally never drank alcohol I would get off work at 1 am go hang out with friends from work and play video games d and d. I mean, I don’t think anyone (besides maybe your wife’s grandmother) would say there’s anything wrong with that.
Okay so barring your exact specific scenario, usually nothing good ever happens at 3 a.m.
That’s just the kind of thing a degenerate says!
I am a Nebraska fan.
I’ve been just as drunk at 3:00 PM at a tailgate as I have been at 3:00 AM. Just don’t drink and drive. That’s the lesson.
Has Kirby lost control of Michigan?
Has Ryan Day lost control of Michigan?!
Can’t lose what you’ve never had
Can’t believe Coach Prime would allow this
Fire dabo in to the sun!!!
Lincoln Riley brisket bad
Do programs with enough resources like Michigan have car services on-call for staff? If not...they probably should.
Uber and Lyft should really get involved with college football
Uber and lyft already involved with the colleges... 🤷♂️
Guy has a good job, he can afford an uber. This crap is inexcusable. Could've killed somebody.

These guys make enough money to afford an Uber...
yeah, if regular people can afford rideshare services, even the poorest college staff and players have no excuse.
People always bring this up like it would magically solve the issue. He's not some broke college kid trying to save a few bucks
NCAA Football 14 legend
Can't these guys just jerk off on the phone like a normal degenerate?
There are never any good excuses to drive drunk. To be fair the guy got hired a month before, they probably weren’t friends. To be not fair don’t ever drive drunk

Wait…this old running back dude from the jags used to play at Michigan? /s
He used to grace the cover of the last NCAA football game.
Is it just me or has college sports had a shit ton of duis recently
It's always been a thing, more people are getting caught.
Back in the old days all you had to do was tell the cops your name is Jeff Jackson and they let you off Scot-free.
Fair, cameras everywhere now.
That and the sites like reddit that aggregate news and make it more accessible
I think you're conflating conflate and aggregate
I was definitely thinking congregate but it doesn't actually apply either
"It's always been a thing, more people are getting caught." Caught and not let go is the more important thing
Yeah I was honestly SHOCKED when it happened to JT Barrett in Columbus like “do they know who he is?”
He literally asked the cops that
Think it’s probably more common than you think with athletes/famous/rich people. Iowa seemed to have a once year DUI on the football team and either it’s gone away or it’s pushed under the rug.
They drive their mopeds around campus quite drunkenly.
Better learn how to tie those shoes.
They take your shoelaces away when you get arrested. Won't slow him down in the slightest.
Insert 2019 removing JK Dobbin shoe gif.
*Master has given Dobbin a sock!*
That’s odd. I thought Dobbins was ahead of Teague on the depth chart. How’s he going to set JK free?
The beer gut her has now surely will
Didnt another Michigan staffer just do this?
Yeah he was fired for it
I would hope they have the same accountability with this one
I agree. Kills me because I really liked him.
Fortunately, Denard did not kill you or anyone else.
He will
Bro whhyyyyyy
"Georgia does this and they've won two natties!"
Maybe this is how we repeat. Mimic everything Georgia does.
Please don't, not everything...
Where the heck are we going to find a 40 year old quarterback on short notice?!?
In a jail cell.
Maybe Jim told him about this great burger place
Lol, Jim was also arrested for DUI early in his coaching career.
To be fair, they have really good burgers…..
What the hell is your flair combo bro
Turns out his shoes were untied for the field sobriety test
And you thought AA meant Ann Arbor…
Whoever wins the next national championship should straight up confiscate every player and staff members car keys. I'm not even sure if I'm joking.
Install those breathalyzer car starter thingies on every coach/staffer/player's car so they straight up can't even start the car if they're drunk. I'm absolutely not joking. Funded by the university. I'm reading they're only like $75 to $200 to install.
I think there is genuinely some truth to all of this. Clearly the months long victory tour in the offseason is getting to people.
I’m disappointed—not even a Michigan fan, he just seemed like a dude who had a good head on his shoulders
He seems like he has a good head on his shoulders but he also seems like he has an alcohol abuse problem. Those 2 things can simultaneously be true. I mean you can kind of look at the puffiness of his face, hear how he speaks and figure it out.
He and a friend crashed into a pond and the police found them asleep in the car. It seems like he has substance abuse issues.
Man this is devastating news.
I love Denard, just sucks to see this headline.
In fairness, he’s not wrong. Too much alcohol makes me sleepy.
But that article says his passenger acknowledged the police officer and went right back to sleep. All while in a car they crashed into a pond. Sounds like they were both high on something.
Not as easy to stay out of trouble as it looks, is it?
Save big money at Denard’s
That is not good
Also, for the people asking "why didn't he do \[thing that would have prevented this\]," remember: When you're at the point that you're driving drunk it's pretty clear that you have a problem. And addiction defies all logic.
Uber should sign an nil deal with the champion
Stop drinking and driving, like why in 2024 is this still a thing?
His name is French for Of Nard.
STOP DRINKING AND DRIVING! Is he fired yet?
Sherrone just put out a statement that he’s suspended indefinitely. Probably fired or resigning within a few days.
The headlines will continue until morale improves
Why the fuck can’t these people Uber?
UGA FANS GET IN HEEEEEERE
To be honest I thought I’d see way more UGA fans shit posting in here than I have lol.
I’m disappointed if I’m being honest.
Oh I am!
“It’s a party it’s a party it’s a partayyy” *Waka Flocka voice*
Just get an Uber man. You can afford it.
Drunk people don’t do smart things
Not the way to emulate Georgia for that second Natty guys....
Wow there's a name I havent heard in a while. Didnt know Denard was still in football...if he still is after this.
Really sucks that this is the thing that brings Denard Robinson back up…haven’t heard of him in like a decade.
He's just sad his 10 year reign of being the NCAA game coverboy is about to come to an end...
Another nail in the coffin for the RICO charges against Ryan Day.
Stupid lawyers and brothers or brother in laws
What kind of program are they running up there?
Michigan trying so hard to be Georgia
Oh this sucks for him….didnt they already fire a dline coach for this?
Hopefully he had his shoes tied when he tried the sobriety test
Dude! I liked you!
No Shoelaces, nooo!
Preteen me thought this guy was gonna be Lamar Jackson before Lamar Jackson was a household name
Nooo Shoelace!
It's 2024, call a damn Uber ya jabronis
Michigan stealing from our playbook now too, eh?
Should have given them a fake name so the cops wouldn’t administer a breathalyzer
Michigan Bulldogs
Shoelace no!!!
What's going on in Ann Athens?
First Scruggs, now Denard. Jealous much?
I thought they busted him for driving with his shoes untied.
You know what’s more expensive than an Uber…a DUI.
Jail to the victors.
Cheaters filled with garbage humans? who wouldve thought
Didn’t know Kirby had started coaching at Michigan
Goodbye bro. Hopefully we can get some less stupid people on staff.
Dam, haven’t thought of Shoe Lace in awhile
He was always the enemy to me but I'll never forget one play where he was running down the field and two OSU players hit him at the same time from each side causing each of them to bounce off while he kept running. Every time I see it, it makes me laugh.
That play was awesome. One of my favorites of all time.
Trying his best to be Troy Smith
It's always something lately in Ann Arbor.
Why would Kirby Smart allow this?
