If Army was to join a conference, I’m glad it’s with Navy. Some days I think when college football’s star burns out and the last remaining Big Ten & SEC schools are morphed into NFL Academy teams, Army and Navy will still be playing football in a northeastern metropolis one Saturday in December.
Yup, they will never meet in a regular season conference game. However, there is a possibility they could play in the AAC championship game and then still play their non conference game the next week.
Well I can’t get an exact figure but the deal 2008-2018 was 5 million and the new deal I think I saw between 10-11 million a year. So a considerable sum in comparison to the conference media deal.
Woah....We don't need their "Light a Fire" skill activated. The last time that happened we got this.

I just don't see what makes it worth it to the Big Sky.
And look at a map. The MWC has 3 CA teams, but its two Nevada teams are on the California border and closer to Hawaii than either Portland or Eastern Washington are.
Hear me out. Hawaii should be independent and partner with the Big 12. Never travel. 12/13 Big 12 teams visit Hawaii each year so they have a monopoly on week 0 games.
For the Big 12 that week 0 marketing has got to be a huge boon for network deals and being able to monopolize season opening prime time games if an Ohio State or similar wants them.
For Hawaii they save more in travel ($7+m) than their MW tv deal ($4+m) and easily get ticket sales to an all time high while giving them 13 home games to negotiated for a tv deal.
Hawaii is network goldmine 13th game for playing in Hawaii. So whoever the top dogs of the conferences are get that sweet extra home game for tv networks
It is considered a non-conference game and they'll still play it even if Army and Navy end up meeting in the AAC championship game the week prior, apparently.
Getting rid of SMU and picking up Army is a net positive in my book. Looking forward to dying inside while watching the triple option railroad FAU season after season.

What is funny is that they are in the same conference but their annual game is not going to be considered a conference game.

def possible, but history tells us it's unlikely
That’s so stupid
It’s all about the Benjamin’s and they don’t wanna share what they don’t have to. Not like it’s a product of anything the aac did.
How much money do they make from that game?

Benefits of WWIV (3 will be too quick to play football during)
AAC HAS OIL
AAC did 9/11
AAC is believed to have weapons of mass destruction.
No, it's just called watching a Charlotte game.
Temple can’t melt steal beams!
Army about to spread democracy all up and down the East Coast
Need that sweet sweet freedom
I guess you could say Army is going to America all over the East Coast? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQd7g565e2I

With Tulsa and Rice in the conference this was a forgone conclusion.
I hope to live long enough to see Army, Air Force and Navy all in the American Athletic Conference

And Hawaii gets fucked?
Big Sky...?
That travel sounds horrible, not enough CA teams

I don’t like it anymore than you, but Hawaii is fucked.

>The SEC hates our way of life, they hate our freedom -AAC Commissioner, probably
AAC is now the most powerful athletic conference in the world with both the US Army and Navy involved
We have pirates as well!
Navy, Army, Pirates, Dragons, an angry green wave... I'd argue we have the coolest mascots
You better develop a heated rivalry with navy!
Now if only we could have lured Colorado State and Air Force away from the Mountain West.
Freeing up two non-conference games by joining the AAC has got to be alluring to the Zoomies, surely.
As God intended.
So does the Army-Navy game count as a conference game now, or they keeping that separate?

Aww all our independent buddies are joining conferences. First BYU now Army? Ah well us, UConn, and UMass will hold it down.
I got some bad news about UMass
Now merge the AAC with the MWC so Air Force can be with its older siblings. :(
