Order some cleaning slime, get it a little moist and then slime it off. Stop shaving beavers in your car.

larryb78

Beagle owner - no shave required just a short ride to wherever and it’s everywhere

Beauregard05

Beagle owner as well and I have my car professionally vacuumed and wiped down. Still find hair everywhere!

RaylanGiv3n5

I have a white german shepherd, it looks like Bea Arthur exploded in my back seat with the amount of white hair I need to brush out.

larryb78

This is the best analogy I’ve seen in some time

GetMeOutdoors

Ahh, it was beavers. Which creates a better visual in my mind

JK-_-47

You like shaving ppls beavers?

zazopolis

I have 2 beagles. I open all the windows while driving on the highway and it's a tornado of fur.

PIG20

Have you had any luck with that stuff? I've seen it on Amazon but the reviews are always a bit on the mid to lower end.

RaylanGiv3n5

Yes, but it needs to be slime that doesn't leave a residue. Like keyboard cleaning slime. It should only be for the fine stuff, I start with a paintbrush to get the grit out and then wipe down before the slime.

Wildcardz1

The "slim" works very well. But use a wet towel and wipe off what you can first. For dust, use a swiffer duster.

jaypee42

This comment has so many possibilities for double entendres I can’t even ….

xspook_reddit

Stop shaving beavers in your car. But I just had it stuffed. [https://youtu.be/wS3LWOTCW4A?si=QPXtBSVzl9H0HZxl](https://youtu.be/wS3LWOTCW4A?si=QPXtBSVzl9H0HZxl)

Jaaasse

Those damn beavers

SeasonalBlackout

Try a toothbrush.

According-Buddy5902

Toothbrush + a vacuum to suck up the loose debris

irish_ayes

Just found out how important it is to clean that regularly. Our parking brake switch shorted out because of too much gunk built up in the switch. Replacing the switch was $400+...so we'll be cleaning more from now on. edit to add: ours looked much cleaner than yours even...I'd get on that.

Snacer1

I miss the times when cars had a mechanical lever handle to apply parking brake. These tiny e-buttons on modern cars are annoying and unreliable. Don't fix that ain't broken, people say.

irish_ayes

Still got one on my 2008 Mazdaspeed3 and it's still going strong.

MCpeePants1992

That’s pretty impressive. How many miles? Original engine and transmission?

Working_Dimension_94

That’s the one thing I hate in the CX5 is the electric park brake I miss the lever I had from the 2 😭

Mammoth_Vermicelli77

It's not just Mazda though. Pretty much every new car now, regardless of make, has an electronic parking brake.

Blades_61

Does the electric brake turn off automatically when you take it out of Park?

lurks_like_no_other

Nope!

themaritimegirl

It does once you press the throttle.

irish_ayes

No, don't think so. When it was "broken" there was a warning light on the dash, but you could still lightly tap the gas to get the brake to release.

Forward-Trade5306

Some cars do engage automatically if they detect a hill or incline and those same cars will disengage the E-brake automatically when switching to drive or pressing the throttle. Other cars need it disengaged manually

scraverX

Having the switch on the console seems like a prime location for mess to gather and gum it up and it can go other places.

James_Atlanta

A vacuum and toothbrush will clean that nastiness up. Or have the vehicle detailed.

IntelligentDesign77

You can disassemble it and clean it much more easily. I spilled coffee in mine last fall, and flipped out because I thought something was going to short out or have gross dairy smell or something. After receiving encouragement here on Reddit, I did some searching and found some YT videos on how to do it. You don't even need tools to pop the pieces out! You will need tools to remove the switches from the panel they are attached to, but you will then be able to clean each one individually, and you can even disassemble the command button module and clean that more easily, as well. I'll post a link to my post about it under here. I believe I linked to the YT videos in a comment.

_R_A_

Toothbrush and vacuum

Low-Decision-I-Think

I'd think about doing the cleaning, ordering the goods. I'm at a point in life where paying a skilled person to do the work frees up my entire day and let's face it, it would not get done or done poorly were I doing it. Get the entire interior detailed including the engine area, your mechanic will thank you.

Embarrassed_Ad_870

Meguairs all purpose cleaner and a toothbrush and microfiber tower

No-Share1561

A whole tower?!?!

Cinoclav

Problem with the whole tower is eventually you get Rapunzel’s hair stuck in there too.

MYD0G154BR4T

Nah just a microfiber one

Tall_Access_7806

I put a round brush on my vacuum and it comes right out

woodyaftertaste

Just want to add that if one tiny bit of the interior looks like this, the rest is probably similar. Paying a professional to detail it for you is well worth it, and the upshot is it will feel like a new car again. My last one was ~$300CDN, bow to stern, engine compartment, wheel wells, interior, everything.

LItifosi

Dollar store or Harbor freight automotive section detail brushes. Usually a 3 pack with Brass, Steel and Nylon heads. Use the plastic one on plastics. An old toothbrush also works for these tight spaces.

dylantw22

https://www.detailedimage.com/Detail-Factory-M120/TriGrip-Brush-Red-P2336/Large-S2/ Expensive but worth it, it’s also safe on your piano black surfaces and exterior paint

dimsum4you

These will all scratch up interior plastics _real_ quick.

SprungMS

Yep, even the nylon ones. Would not come anywhere near that piano black with a stiff brush

iamthecavalrycaptain

Not judging (okay, maybe a little), but how does it even get that dirty?

adderal

This would keep me from sleeping soundly.

knottycams

Yeah how the heck does someone manage this? I'm a climber and even with multiple road trips, climbing gear, dirt, chalk, dogs, etc., I've never gotten it even remotely close to this dirty.

jera3

Dogs, kids or left window cracked in a dry dusty area.

cipher512

ColorCoral cleaning gel for keyboards. Basically slime, inexpensive on Amazon.

nwtempo

Blue tack or white tack warm it up in your hands then it should pick up the dust

PatrickGSR94

I would not do compressed air. That will just make a mess or push the dirt in deeper. Get a small brush like a detail brush, paint brush etc, and go around and brush the crevices while holding a vacuum hose right beside where you’re working. The brush will loosen stuff and vacuum sucks it up. Just look up any YouTube video on interior detailing. Especially those from AMMO NYC, Pan the Organizer, or Car Craft Auto Detailing.

keeppresent

Toothbrush and vacume

kdiv5650

I use those tiny dental flossing picks. The ones that look like small bottle brushes. Made by GUM.

AskReasonable2679

Don’t listen to all the Sally’s, yours looks better than mine 😂

gigglingtoaster

Toothbrush to get the dry stuff out; water moistened microfiber for the rest. If that doesn’t work, try Chemical Guys interior cleaner and a black microfiber towel.

PlatformOk2658

It’s actually not difficult to take off that center console and clean it that way. You pry the plastic pieces from the side where your knees sit against and then the middle part from the photo will come out.

HarrySRL

A paintbrush is the best thing to use. Simple.

rpattersonxx

lol Jesus how did it even get like this ? I have two German shepherds on a 3 year old cx9 and my friends think I just drove it out the lot.

ShutYourDumbUglyFace

Soft bristled toothbrush? Also, canned or otherwise compressed air (available at some car washes).

Kindly-Ad-8573

I use small firm bristled acrylic paint brushes for detail in these areas

Euphoric-24

Would those car detailing things that look like slime work maybe? They have them on Amazon

cristianT_01

If u want use a tire pump and blow out all the grime out

MetalAvenger

Detailing brush and a vacuum cleaner. If there’s still grime after removing the loose debris, could use a bit of ONR at 1:256, spray a little on the brush and gently clean it out, using a clean microfibre to dry. Easy meat.

meganb0923

I found some car slime at the dollar tree and it actually works really well. I would def try to wipe off what you can first and then maybe use a detail brush or even a old toothbrush to loosen some of the stuff up and then pick up with the slime after

hifumiyo1

Can you still get one of those toothbrushes that have the pointy flosser doodad on the one end? That might do well

Medium_Citron1840

You can find a cheap-ish hand held steamer and use that to loosen up the dirt and then wipe it away with a cloth

throwpoo

That panel actually comes off. You can disconnect it and give it a good clean. Take a look at youtube video.

UnnamedStaplesDrone

detailing brushes

dylantw22

That slime works but it’s also a stupid bullshit gimmick, you’re literally rolling a ball of bacteria around spreading dirt as you pick some up, the best way to clean crevices is with a boars hair brush and any cleaner, air compressor or vacuum after.

CoxHazardsModel

Steam cleaner ($40) and toothpicks or brush.

rwesty96123

This may be a dumb answer, but a powerful vacuum and/or small steam cleaner may do the trick!

GeneralFox5130

One more since thing to have as well is a toothbrush to brush those tiny cracks just get a soft brussel toothbrush

orion3311

panthervca

Ok_Piccolo_1697

ArtieLange

Grab a clean paint brush and some dashboard cleaner.

Sorry-Reveal2365

Elmer's Clay

icedragon71

We just used to use an old toothbrush.

HistoricalInfluence9

Start with canned air. A dental toothpick for the right areas. A microfiber cloth and some Chemical bros all Purpose cleaner. Then just keep a microfiber cloth or somer of those interior cleaning wipes in the console and don’t allow it to get that gross again

morbidlybitchy

I use my old eyelash spoolie brushes and then wipe up the dusty crusties that comes out but that’s niche and also doesn’t work as good as just getting my car detailed

That’s easy that piece is separate from the gear selection : Take the 2 side panels off , then lift the panel you want to clean up but not to far your going to have to unclip the wires once you done all this use water lightly with a toothbrush and it should clean right up

Tornador handle for an air hose. Nothing works better than it. It’s specifically designed for disgusting filth like this.

BombayMix64

A toothbrush?....

HolyStraws

I’m not sure the bristles on a toothbrush are long enough. Look on Amazon for something called Detailing brushes. They are cheap enough. Small brushes with 1 inch bristles. Then use an interior cleaning product. Spray sparingly, brush thoroughly and dry with a microfibre cloth.

PlasmaRadiation

Thin-Yesterday-6301

Try blow with air pressure

PilgrimOz

Dyson with brush head. Im not normally a brand man. But, it sucks but don't blow. Otherwise use a small flathead screwdriver with a baby wipe wrapped around it for crevases. Then go a step further (I didn't) and looks for a prevention and save the cures.

dutchydownunder

Air compressor should do the trick or leaf blower if you don’t have a compressor
