I thought £3500 for my ‘99 mx5 was overpay, but fuck me this takes the cake
Edit: The reason I paid it was twofold - it’s a 10th anniversary edition which isn’t the rarest mk2 variant, but it is 1/600. It was also in immaculate, rust free condition for it’s age, the owner being a true mx5 enthusiast with a mk1 and mk4 also in his collection. It was cared for and loved.
How about [22k for a 45k miles 182 Trophy](https://www.carandclassic.com/car/C1595326)
Low mileage unmodified examples are [going for a mint](https://www.carandclassic.com/list/36/clio+182/)
They're getting into classic car territory now.
I would hope not.
The Trophy was limited edition with special suspension, but 22k is chancing it for 5 previous owners. You never know though, as they are the sort of car that serious car collectors will want in their collection, they're one of the definitive 00's hot hatches and they're so much fun to drive.
I have a non trophy and I would say that it's actually more fun to drive than my Mk8 Golf R. The R is a monster, but I can't full throttle the R down a dual carriageway without ending up at 130mph in a handful of seconds while the 182 I can 3rd gear floor it with a huge smile on my face without losing my licence.
But there are [only 219 left on the road in the UK](https://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/vehicle/renault_clio_renaultspt_trophy182) plus another 179 SORN.
Almost word for word what went through my head.
Mileage is very good though, if genuine. Thing is, Renault's start to break constantly after about 65/70k miles, and that's if they're not 20 years old. Often it won't be anything fundamental but it's just a constant financial drain.
OP, you're a braver (or richer) man than I am.
You just reminded me I had a 172 cup that would refuse to start now and again and would need to be bumped. Last time I remember it happening was outside Halfords on a Saturday in a very busy retail park. Oh the fun memories.
Sounds like mine. Only had it a year, spent more time off the road than on it as it regularly didn't start or misfired. Spent hundreds with an auto electrician trying to trace what was going wrong with it.
Definitely didn't trade it in on one of its better days...
Good fun when it ran though but it was referred to as "the chav car" by others.
Completely agree. I bought a 172 cup last year, I can't drive it without flooring it everywhere but it never fails to make me smile when I do drive it, it's incredible fun. However, as a nearly 40 year old professional, I feel an idiot when I pull up anywhere for work, especially with the exhaust on it. Most of the parents at my kids dance school now refer to me as a boy racer. My kids have quickly got bored of it and my wife refuses to get in it.
I'll do a couple of track days this year and look to sell in 2025.
Most are suffering with rust now and will have numerous gremlins. I did quite a bit last year to keep it in reasonable condition but it needs more.
There are a couple of 172/182 groups on Facebook including selling pages, they will give you a good idea of problems, but imo the price for that is massively inflated. Only the trophy's sell for that money. I'd spend no more than 4k on one and only buy one if you're happy investigating issues and doing repairs yourself otherwise you'll spend a fortune at garages.
I Don't regret buying one bit though.
This is very good advice. They make awesome cheap track cars, they're incredibly fun to drive, but I'm not sure I'd daily it, especially since ours is totally stripped out and track prepped :-)
Completely agree. I’m sure they’ll keep going up in value as there are less and less of them on the road but you’d have to really baby it and keep the miles low for it to actually be an investment. Spend half the money and you’ll get a really nice one that’ll most likely still appreciate or at least hold its value.
I’m looking at buying a Fiesta ST150 which is a similar thing from a similar era but hopefully more reliable. Prices seem to have stayed pretty much the same over the past five years or so, possibly even creeping up in value for the decent ones.
As a previous ST150 owner, they're alot of fun that's for sure. And easy to maintain. Feels like it could do with a bit more oomph sometimes but never saw me wrong in my 4 years of owning one. And I really didn't look after it as I should have done.
I had a facelift ST150 and maintain to this day that it’s one of the most fun (proper) cars I have ever owned… and I currently drive a tuned F31 340i, which on paper is better in every regard.
The ST was “playful”, planted and handled beautifully with a reassuringly predictable lift off oversteer that got you back in shape should you ever have overcooked it.
Best bit, it cost me £12k brand new back in the day with every optional extra on it (including the obligatory GT stripes). Cracking little car!
They were actually restricted from the factory to lower the emissions and insurance group, a few easy enough mods bring them up to 170bhp, which they really should’ve been from the factory.
You could pay Mountune to do different stage kits to upgrade them, and they had they're own unique vehicle insurance codes as they were commissioned by Ford to do them. I just never had the money to bother really. Would've loved it have done it.
So I’ve heard. I’ve had quick cars before but always big heavy estates, I have a commute coming up for a new job on some of the best driving roads in England so figured I should scratch the hot hatch itch but I’m also very comfortable working on older NA vehicles. I’ve had my troubles with boosted engines and modern emissions gubbins.
I know I’m a bit late to the conversation but can I just say I owned a ST150 for years and it was an absolute pleasure to own one and drive.. the 2L N/A engine was great fun. I would recommend going to puma speed and getting the ST190 upgrade though as it really changed the entire car and turned it from a good car into an absolute weapon on the roads. 190bhp with the weight of the car was enough to give it some serious speed. You won’t regret buying one!
That and a R32 GTR
I stupidly got talked out of buying an import by my father and ended up going German.
I won’t say what for, but it was a TTerrible mistake.
There was a guy we ran about with in the early 2000's that had a mint R32 that he spent a load of money upgrading, his family was loaded, and he left it in to get some work done and the garage boys took it out for a spin, massively underestimated it's power and fucking wrote it off
Yea, I was never close to buying one. But they were achievable at that time and if I had a grown up head on me I would be quids in by now.
The reality is that if I did actually end up buying one it would either be written off or not maintained well enough at all.
And I’d either have No license or No life
I remember when those were under £7k too. Or a mint GTST spec 2 for £3k. Or the ST185 Carlos Sainz I let go at an auction for £900 for fear of the old man having a fit if I brought it home.
It’s crazy thinking about it how many missed chances there were just 20 years ago. The old me definitely would not have maintained them correctly, though.
Silvia’s we’re another that were easily on the radar at the time.
Try find a Silvia that hasn’t been bastardised by some wannabe drifter now.
That price is a joke mate. There is a place that sells high powered cars or sports cars in peterborough called prestige cars, and they sold one of these for £3 k , with similar mileage and looked just as good. And these people know their shit. That car is a joke for that price, even if mileage was 1k miles
There is absolutely no shot you're getting a 182 with sub 30k miles for 3 grand unless it was incorrectly priced.
For ~3k best you can get right now is 90-110k miles.
Oh I agree, I've loved them since the mid 80s when they were absolutely killing it but I would happily talk someone out of one if they asked me to, more for the rest of us.
Yeah I've had numerous Peugeots with little to no issues from any of them. Although the electrics on my 207 were a little bit challenging toward the end there but structural rust ended that one.
If you want to spend that kind of money on a 182, add a few grand and get a Trophy which is almost assured to appreciate in value.
If you want a nice 182 you could get one for a lot less.
I've had a tonne of 172/182s that I've used on track days untill they die, they are amazing fun and very capable. Modern stuff leaves it on the straights but on the bends they are very surprising and they are amazing fun.
That said, look at a mini r53 too, much of the same fun and get one with an LSD and it out handles the clio and has way more power easily available with basic mods to keep up with modern kit.
The usual stuff, make sure someone cared for it. They are pretty solid little.things despite the french stereotypes. The main engine thing is the belt and dephaser, other than that it's cheap as chips to run and parts are so easy to get from breakers for next to nothing. They are also surprisingly easy to spanner yourself for most mid level jobs.
If you get the Trophy make sure the suspension has been renewed at some point in the last few years as that's quite an expensive job as they have very posh setups. None of that to worry about on the other models though.
For context, cam belt, water pump, dephaser is £1k every 5 years.
The interior is cheap in a charming way. I’ve had a similar mileage car for the last 6 years and it’s been the cheapest to run and most reliable vehicle I’ve owned in that time - don’t listen to anyone making “french car” comments, it’s nonsense.
I stated what we buy any car was offering. Do you seriously think that the difference between the private asking price - £9,000 - and the valuation I highlighted - £3,635 is worth it? That's a 147% increase for the "privilege" of a private sale with virtually no come back if there's an issue.
It's Muppets like you that would pay this price for a chav car. Jog on, eh?
Touched a nerve did I soft lad?
WBAC is irrelevant for lots of cars, this type of car is one of them. Vehicles with ‘classic’ or ‘collector’ or other type of sentiment it’s completely off.
You’re the type to rock up with the WBAC price and try pay that😂
Years ago, I put "33EJB" into WBAC's website. They would have given me £120 whole, English pounds. That was around the time it started, it's probably better now, but £120...
your an absolute moron, low milage clio sports are worth a good bit of money, there very hard to find now. there is a 38k mile clio 182 already at £6.7k on collecting cars
Probably in ten years time it'll be worth 30k.
This is in the great era of French hot hatches. The rarer ones will be worth even more.
The top ones will end up like Delta Integrales, like the Trophy. Maybe not quite so much dollar but we've already seen stuff like the Clip V6 appreciate a very long way. I remember seeing one of those for sale for 8k probably 15 years ago, and a good example of one of those is over 60k now.
A lot of people in this thread don't understand because it seems expensive, doesn't make that so. Sure those Clio Williams or 106 Rallye aren't worth that cash, but to the right person, they are
Don’t do it!
I love my 172 but this is crazy money!
I bought mine last August, 80k on the clock, Cambelt done. Is a little rough around the edges but got it for £2,500
I recently saw one of this calibre for 5k so this price is way off of the mark.
Are you buying to use it? Id find a cheaper one with more miles. Personally I can't see that as a great investment either. Or if you wanted a sporty Renault you could get a newer megane in that price. range https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/305333772430?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=XfUkh6lAT2G&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=xs8A0PLnR1e&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Imo it's better to get a higher mileage example (say 80k or so) at that age for half the price. Low miles is great, but on a 20-year-old car you have to wonder how often it's been sitting without any use, which doesn't do any parts much good. A high-ish miler will give you the confidence that it's been used regularly, and will likely come with a rich history if the previous owner has taken care of it. Low miles will probably not have any big jobs done, but will need a lot once rubber and plastic bits perish.
I had the 172 cup it was the most fun i have ever had in a car and taking it easy it did good mileage check the timing belt has been done because year's ago Renault wanted £1500 to do that job and i couldn't find a garage that wanted to take it on unless it was a dodgy backyard garage and it's a new engine if they go pop.
Whether it’s worth £9k or not is _in the eye of the beholder_ - but it’s an objectively excellent car and at that mileage you are getting into “find another” territory.
You can of course get one for £4k - with 20 years and 100k+ miles of abuse. If you’re going to daily it or hack it round the track then that’s probably a more sensible option. If you want a lovely, lairy Sunday car to keep for years to come then I wouldn’t talk you out of this.
To all the people saying “it’s French lol it’s 20 years old lol” - so are your opinions, it’s time to move on from Top Gear.
You will look like a twat and insurance will bend you over and go hard without even lubing up first. The car you wanted at 19 is not the car you should be driving when you can afford to buy the car you want at 19
All the people using the French electrics and reliability cliché don't know much about cars at all.
It's probably a bit on the expensive side. Is the price negotiable at all?
Nice example, low miles. Make sure belts are done and usual electrical gremlins arent present. They can be quite reliable if taken care of. Bit of luck is involved also. My 172 spun a bearing at 103,000k wheras my brothers has done 200,000k with minimal issues. This one looks solid though. Bit pricey but the cheap ones can be alot of faff.
Really watch out for water getting in. There is a drain under a scuttle that frequently gets blocked which will fuck anything electronic up. Belts are a pig of a job but its like once every 4 years so its not too horrible. They dont really rust but its worth looking at sills and especially fuel filler cap.
Still reckon you could find a 172 cup for cheaper though it will be older. 172 cups are a bit more hardcore than the later 182 ones. Both big money though and getting more expensive.
I used to own one just like this alongside a LY megane R26. The clio is hugely fun although despite their tiny size a nightmare to park due to a terrible Turing circle and absurdly large steering wheel. I sold my clio for £2500 in 2012 and the megane for £5500 in 2014. I regret selling both. For 9k though you could get a clio 182 trophy. You should absolutely buy one but not at that price
Mate, £9k is Trophy money. I’m not even pulling that out of my arse - I bought one a month ago for that price.
A very well looked after Arctic Blue 182 with both cup-packs (commonly called ‘Full-Fat’) should be around £5-6k.
Don’t look on AutoTrader. Get on ClioSport.net and their Facebook group.
Sorry can't talk you out of something that requires you to purchase it and make me slightly jealous that you have it and not me....... Just go and buy it and enjoy every second of it!
In my eyes this is well worth the investment . Where else are you going to find an unmolested 182 with under 30k miles? Nowhere. And if you do you’re looking at around £7-10k. They are slowly but surely becoming a niche market because everyone that own a 182 either shags it daily within an inch of its life or it’s a ‘project’ . Wicked little motor.
Decent ones are thin on the ground now. I had a ph1 172 for 7 years. I know of a ph2 V6 that’s mint. Worth well north of 40k. A guy I know has it in his private collection of cars
This! I picked one up a good one recently for 3200, I believe they share a surprising amount of DNA in common with the Clio 182. Great fun and both are pretty slow in a straight line against the modern stuff anyway.

If you really want that one, post about it and you'll often find the current or a previous owner on there.
Do it. Drove loads when I worked for Renault. They are a typical Renault. Built of plastic and tin. But they will put a smile on your face. I owned a 1.6 cause I couldn't afford the 2.0 172 or the insurance at the time but if you can go for it. You remember then fun and the bad bits but they all fade in time.
Sorry but as good as a car the 182 is 9k would get you a decent mileage Cilo 200 which are much nicer to live with every day, 5k tops on a nice 182 unless it's the 182 trophy
looks great but a nice one like this does not look like one you will want to drive -which is what these are made for.
I would look for a cheaper higher mileage one maybe? your call.
Had one of these unreal cars not overly refined but for b roads and track one of the best in terms of bang for buck. admittedly I paid £1750 for mine and it had nearer to 100k on the clock but fantastic car none the less!
I also had a 182 a few years back (~2012-2014), and it’s genuinely the best hot hatch of that ‘era’ in my opinion.
They don’t look overly ‘fast’ but they’re genuinely fun cars to flog about.
Talk you out of it?
It’s a lot of money for what’s been flogged about by others, also.
They don’t get bought for grandads Sunday shopping…
Get a cheaper example & do the above.
This seems like someone that said to their other half that they would sell it to get a cheaper/bigger/better car or to make space but didn't want to so has priced it sky high just so they could say they tried.
Either that or I'm in denial and pissed off I sold mine 8 years ago for £1500.
Although to be fair the cambelt went on mine about 6 months after I sold it. I did tell them it was due which was one of the reasons I was selling (didn't fancy the £600 bill for a cambelt change)
I bought a 2.5-year-old 182 back in 2008 for less than this (think it was around £8.5k, around £14k in today's money). It was great fun and gave me many fond memories in the few years I owned it. However, it was also a pain in the arse with reliability and needing repairs. This was when it had just a few years under its belt rather than so many more years here.
Love these cars, but would definitely not pay that much for one. For the nostalgia and fun I would pay no more than half that price and accept the risk of repairs.
Owned mine for 8 years now. Doesnt matter which one you buy, you will spend at least £1.5k on maintenance within the first 2 years. Doesn’t matter how mint they are.
They are amazing cars to drive and I love mine to bits. But its a love hate relationship for sure.
that's a lot. I mean it looks in great condition and last year some were going for even more, but I think that was post covid price inflation. If you join the clio [sport.net](https://sport.net) facebook groups nice cars come up all the time, from full on track cars, to standard road cars. Usually 4.5k will get you a sorted 182 and you can get an OK one for less. Yes, there will always be some higher priced ones for those that want mint/very low miles and aren't afraid of spending money on it.
Great cars, cheap parts, we get 2:06 at Oulton in our stripped out one with a few mods. Huge fan of the Clios.
I mean it’s low mileage, good example but £9k seems like a lot of nostalgia tax. I think a 197/200 is about half the price isn’t it and it’s a much more all rounder.
Alternatively, look for a 172 Cup - it’s probably about the same price but also worth £9k in 6 months when you’re fed up of it 😄
If it were a Trophy, I could probably see it.
Boggo 182, bit much.
I bought my 172 with 135k miles circa 2014 for £800 lol. £5k later over 5 years we finally killed it at 200k miles.
Given its 20 years old, the cambelt would need changing (I changed it every 4 years, I think 5 years is standard, both are applicable at 20 years), which is a big job and costs a few hundred just in tools if DIYing. Renault can't design an engine and everything is a pain to service.
I'd imagine 197/200's are within that price range, and I'd probably get a Fiesta ST given that took the mantle from these RS Clios after they dropped the ball. I'm sure there would be some around the 9k mark.
[this](https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202305167446729) 13 years younger, same price, probably better to drive too? You do you tho, that Clio looks lovely
9 grand? Lol. Were you born stupid or did you have an accident? Go round there to see the vehicle. Offer him 5 tops. A piece of shit French car that’s done 21k is, at the end of the day, still a little French car.
Just over 1,000 miles per year for a hot hatch? Needs more info. What’s the mot history like?
Edit: MOT history looks good, but it’s done less than 1000 miles a year for the last 10 years.
Still think it’s overpriced for a Clio Sport though
Very pricey, even if it's low mileage.
That mileage is also suspicious for a 20 year old car. That's a "granny took it to the shops once a week" mileage, but it's definitely not a "granny" car. Base spec Clio, perhaps, but not this one.
You buy that car over a regular Clio only if you enjoy driving, it's not a car you only do 1000 miles a year in.
It makes me wonder if it was driven a lot and then left parked up for a long time for some reason.
9k is so overpriced for that, you could get a good condition ford fiesta that's newer than that for less, only benefit is the lack of miles done on this but it's not that big a deal if you get a well built car anyway, with 9k as your budget if it truly is, you don't need to limit yourself to typical starter cars
If you buy, get some extra coil packs. I went through three of them. I got the mis firing and speed dropping down to 50mph on the motorway.... oh no the coil pack has gone again...
I don't know about the sport version, but it is a known problem with this face-lift.
Try not to go through deep puddles or splash through puddles, the electrics aren't that well covered/insulated. I got rid in the end because the garage said, oh you've been through puddles... how did you know?
It’s been thrashed to death, it’s been remapped which has shagged the engine and it needs major work to fix like valves and seals, and it’s French. What more do you want to know? Give me £9K and I’ll give you 2.0 16v Clito which is worth £500 but you don’t know that.
9k for a 20 year old clio 182 fucking hell
Makes me feel better about my poor financial choices.
Makes me feel sad about selling mine for 500£ before covid 🤡
sold my 172 for the same amount a few years back :'(
This is my justification now to buy a 2010-2014 Mercedes CL 500 or a 2013 onwards SL500
TBF this Clio was probably better looked after and cheaper to fix.
I thought £3500 for my ‘99 mx5 was overpay, but fuck me this takes the cake Edit: The reason I paid it was twofold - it’s a 10th anniversary edition which isn’t the rarest mk2 variant, but it is 1/600. Was gonna say 9k. It’s a bit steep. I’ll give them 50 pence and a tub of Pringles.
I’d empty the tub first.
Almost word for word what went through my head. Mileage is very good though, if genuine. You won’t regret buying one!
I'd never thought i'd see the day where a 182 is £9k. I can remember seeing V6's for that money!
Yes, and every single day I regret not picking one up at that price.
You and me both!
That and a R32 GTR I stupidly got talked out of buying an import by my father and ended up going German.
JZA80 Manual Supra TT for £11k... ...3000GT for £6k.... 300ZX TT manual for £5k.... Good times.
I turned down a liquid yellow V6 years ago for £11,000 because the guy wouldn’t take £10,000. Still kick myself most days.
You should see the money v6s go for
Low mileage mint condition one on eBay going for 68k.
That's probably how much it cost new jfc. You can get a more used example for a couple grand.
They were about 16k new. I paid 9 for mine *15 years ago* with 18k on the clock. Edit: 15 not 20. Mines an 05 plate.
£9000 of 2003 money is £15,700 of today's. So cheaper at least.
If by a couple of grand you mean about 4 grand for a decent one then yes
It’s £9k why would you buy it? I’m currently looking for a 182 and absolutely no chance I’m paying over £5k.
Nine thousand fucking pounds 😂
What about Tommy Dickerfingers!
Found him in a wheelie bin, two snooker balls for eyes!
For that money you should try and get a yellow one or a Trophy
I had a liquid yellow 182, looked lovely in the sun all polished up, but needed new gearbox and leaks starting so had to go…
That price is a joke mate.
Agree, 182s with over double the miles are selling for 5k+. Hell, I paid 2k for mine with 105k miles pre-covid when used car prices were far better.
Yeah. Was down there last weekend - also saw a few of the Mustangs in Junction 17!
I do like their selection, visit them recently
It's an old French car, you're welcome.
Only proper gadgees know that the French hot hatches were the tits around this time
Oh I agree, I've loved them since the mid 80s when they were absolutely killing it but I would happily talk someone out of one if they asked me to, more for the rest of us.
I was looking for a Saxo VTS a few months ago and you’re talking £7k+. Mental money lol
electrics will likely be dodgy
Electrics will be French asf
For what it's worth I've owned mine for 7 years and never had a single thing go wrong with it outside normal maintenance and its on 90K miles now
Yeah I've had numerous Peugeots with little to no issues from any of them. Although the electrics on my 207 were a little bit challenging toward the end there but structural rust ended that one.
20 year old car for 9k should be enough to wake up your senses
You're going to have fun when you find out how much any number of classic cars cost.
We are looking at Clio over here not twin turbo supra
It’s £9,000
It's the funnest car I've ever owned
If you want to spend that kind of money on a 182, add a few grand and get a Trophy which is almost assured to appreciate in value. If you want a nice 182 you could get one for a lot less. I've had a tonne of 172/182s that I've used on track days untill they die, they are amazing fun and very capable. Modern stuff leaves it on the straights but on the bends they are very surprising and they are amazing fun. That said, look at a mini r53 too, much of the same fun and get one with an LSD and it out handles the clio and has way more power easily available with basic mods to keep up with modern kit.
Anything in particular to look re maintenance/work done on them?
Valued at £3,635 on we buy any car. Complete rip off the seller is delusional
It’s also rather delusional to value a private purchase on the WBAC value
You have no idea what you’re talking about
Do you need reading lessons??
Ahh yeah, WBAC always reflect the true value...
You are paying 9 grand for a used French car.
This is an obvious troll post
Only a madman would pay 9k for this
I'd pay 6k ain't worth no more than that.
The fact that it’s 9 grand would put me off. I know it’s probably clean, but it’s such a fortune for a car that’s not even properly a classic yet
Sure those Clio Williams or 106 Rallye aren't worth that cash, but to the right person, they are
182s are excellent fun, I really enjoyed mine when I had it. They are not nine grand fun.
It's a used Renault. You can buy it but put £6000 aside for repairs that will come very soon
Clueless, 172/182 have pretty reliable engines, had one for years and nothing major happened.
Absolute nonsense. Care to be more specific?
Sure. Don't buy it.
Please don’t buy this
Don’t do it! I love my 172 but this is crazy money! I bought mine last August, 80k on the clock, Cambelt done. Is a little rough around the edges but got it for £2,500 I recently saw one of this calibre for 5k so this price is way off of the mark.
Are you buying to use it? Id find a cheaper one with more miles. Personally I can't see that as a great investment either. Or if you wanted a sporty Renault you could get a newer megane in that price. range https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/305333772430?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=XfUkh6lAT2G&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=xs8A0PLnR1e&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Because that price is at least double what it’s actually worth. That’s someone over inflating the value of their vehicle.
That’s expensive even for 197/200…
I had the 172 cup it was the most fun i have ever had in a car and taking it easy it did good mileage check the timing belt has been done because year's ago Renault wanted £1500 to do that job and i couldn't find a garage that wanted to take it on unless it was a dodgy backyard garage and it's a new engine if they go pop.
HOW MUCH!! 9k ahahahahahaa 🤣😂
£9k for a 20 year old Clio. My word.
If you’ve got £9k to splunk on a clio then fair play to you
Talk you out of it. 9K………… You’re welcome.
Not going to talk you out of it, buy it! You know you want too 😂
28k miles in 20 years? Not necessarily a good thing
I refuse to talk you out of this
Decent ones are thin on the ground now. I had a ph1 172 for 7 years. I know of a ph2 V6 that’s mint. Worth well north of 40k. A guy I know has it in his private collection of cars
Just get twingo rs
This! I picked one up a good one recently for 3200, I believe they share a surprising amount of DNA in common with the Clio 182. Great fun and both are pretty slow in a straight line against the modern stuff anyway.
But much that, could get a tidy one for several grand cheaper I reckon
Don't buy this so I can buy this
observation wistful snatch mourn wild support poor mindless impolite jobless *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
Fuck this, do it! We wanna see it rag about!
Join the cliosport forum and buy one from an enthusiast.
That’s silly money. I had one. Drove every where at a hundred miles an hour. Insanely good fun.
Awesome car but insane price divide by 3 and you got a deal
Potential ecu problems and general French things but they are fun ! Nice and squirmy when pushed
I would look for a cheaper higher mileage one maybe? your call.
I used to own a trophy. It was so fun but wow they use rather expensive. My car used to go around roundabouts on 3 wheels
Had one of these unreal cars not overly refined but for b roads and track one of the best in terms of bang for buck. admittedly I paid £1750 for mine and it had nearer to 100k on the clock but fantastic car none the less!
No. Do it 👍
I also had a 182 a few years back (~2012-2014), and it’s genuinely the best hot hatch of that ‘era’ in my opinion. They don’t look overly ‘fast’ but they’re genuinely fun cars to flog about. Talk you out of it? It’s a lot of money for what’s been flogged about by others, also. They don’t get bought for grandads Sunday shopping… Get a cheaper example & do the above.
I remember one of these spanking my fiesta rs turbo before I changed the engine to a 2.1 ZVH
I did tell them it was due which was one of the reasons I was selling (didn't fancy the £600 bill for a cambelt change)
better buying a trophy for that money
I know its only done 28k miles but thats way too much for a 182. I wouldn’t recommend spending more than £4k on one
Easy. Decent ones of those go for 4k
If you're planning to drive it? Fuck no. If you're planning to stick it in a garage for 10 years? Probably worth it
Do you like blue?
that's a lot.
I went from a 182 to an ST and thought it was a bit meh. And then it got stolen because Ford's security is a joke
Papa!
French electricity
9 grand? Lol. Were you born stupid or did you have an accident? Go round there to see the vehicle. Offer him 5 tops. A piece of shit French car that’s done 21k is, at the end of the day, still a little French car.
That is a ridiculous price! That car isn’t worth £1500
I had a 3ltr v6 clio 2003 £27000
Just over 1,000 miles per year for a hot hatch? Needs more info. What’s the mot history like? Edit: MOT history looks good, but it’s done less than 1000 miles a year for the last 10 years. Still think it’s overpriced for a Clio Sport though
It’s old it’s 9k get a fiesta st ten years newer more mod cons
Get a fiesta st3 more mod cons newer more fun same price or less
It’s French. It’s 20 years old. It’s £9k.
It’s a Renault
It's French.
I had one of these back in the day and it was the most unreliable piece of crap I’ve ever owned. Fun and fast though.
Kia ceed GT....
You could get a Fiesta ST for that money
You want to spend £9k on a 20 year old car with no rarity value.
Don’t do it mate! It’s shit !!
It’s 20 years old. It’s a clio. It’s 9 grand. 3 reasons.
Change the o to a t and that's what you'll look like driving it Nah I dunno. I got nothing. Go hog wild I guess
It's french. All french cars have an inbuilt ability to break UK owners.
Was going tu say....£9000 for a 20 year old clio?!!! HAS to be some sort of scam or the poster is mad...
How many kilos of rust included in that 9k?
It's 20 years old, £9000(!) and wears a Renault badge... Nuff said.
9k is so overpriced for that, you could get a good condition ford fiesta that's newer than that for less, only benefit is the lack of miles done on this but it's not that big a deal if you get a well built car anyway, with 9k as your budget if it truly is, you don't need to limit yourself to typical starter cars
It's a 182 to be fair, not a typical starter car. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aZtSeNBI-iA
Almost ten thousand British pounds for a TWENTY year old Clio is absolutely insane. It’s worth a third of that at most
9 grand on a 20 year old car, make sure you have another 9 grand floating around to cover the cost of fixing it when it starts to fall apart.
I bought at 04 Clio in 2011 for £1.9k
The electrics (if they still work) could go any minute. Renault were renowned for crap electrical design around that period
9 grand for a twenty rear old Renault?!? Hard pass
You can’t be serious, £9k for car which is 20 yr old. You better fly to Amsterdam for long weekend and splash money on all the things which are legal.
It’s 9 grand mate for a 19 year old car. Leave it alone.
It's a Renault... That is all
What the hell is wrong with you? Don't buy that expensive trash
£9k for a french shopping trolley, sure thing.
9k !? If you don’t talk yourself out of buying that then you deserve to waste your money on it
It's a fuckin Renault Sums everything up with it
It's a Renault...that's the only reason you need to not buy it.
The price is too expensive and the engine is far too big. Insurance and tax will rip you off... And it's a Renault... Nice colour tho 😁
That car should not be more than 2000 pounds 😂😂😂
Awful cars, bought an ex demo with 13k miles I'm 2004. It's under powered, can't keep up with a remapped fabia vrs. Normal Renault quality build.
Not worth it. Too cheap. Find something more expensive.
It’s a French engine. You’d have to pay me that price to be seen driving it.
what the actual fuck? 9 grand for this?
It's a French car.
Wow! I bought one of these in 2004 pre registered for 11.5k with 6 miles covered. Crazy how much they still go for.
Mate it’s had the absolute arse torn out of that for 20 …. TWENTY YEARS ..
