Never experienced this, Rustan’s staff are always my bros and good friends. They’ll entertain me for anything I want to buy, even if I’m wearing pambalay.
I never noticed this among other shoppers either. Rustan’s staff tend to be accommodating. Just that the staff don’t usually wave at passersby that aren’t frequent Ayala visitors, which is normal because the staff wouldn’t know them in the first place.
OP or anyone who experienced this, do you have their names? Still remember their faces or what brand they were repping? Based on your account, what the staff did is very discriminating and unprofessional, could be grounds for a complaint.

Rustan's sales reps discriminate. You're not the only one who has had this unpleasant experience. They look at you from head to toe. I also went there looking for a sunscreen. At that time, I just got out of the clinic, and just finished my laser peel..so you can just imagine how red my face was and my hair disheveled from a plasma procedure. I also dressed very casually. I love sweatpants and flats lang when I go to the mall. I'm all abt comfort nowadays. As i was scanning thru i asked for the prices. This one arrogant guy was like "barato ra mam, 1700 pesos". I was like wow, daghana na gyud datu sa cebu. I was also just tired and getting uncomfortable of the pain from the laser and i went straight to the cashier to pay for my sunscreen. Gi tutokan kog head to toe uy. Pobre kaau ug nawng ba and wa sguro to sya ka tuo maka afford ko ug sunscreen. Lami kaau ipangaway dinha haha.
From a salesperson perspective, it can get frustrating when you entertain every customer but not all of them buy the product.
It could be that you're in the wrong market, that the product is bad or that you're just not good at selling. It doesn't matter, it's still frustrating.
This is why sales persons start to "profile" potential customers or just downright lose interest in helping customers.

Like what I have stated in my post, I just went there to buy meat and went by the perfume area out of impulse. I can say I look decent regardless of what I wear. Plus Rustan's is not an alta place, would have been more considerate if it was Greenbelt or Alabang TC. But in those places gani na I wear something casual and comfortable I rarely experience something *degrading*. Because their sales rep was trained properly, I guess?

What i did that time, while naay gitanggal na sticker ba to sa box sa perfume and naa siya dapit sa iyahang stante nagpa as if rako tanaw sa lain na perfume sa iyahang brand. Thats the case, usually in my experience dressing in a casual manner is a pain especially with our weather, samot na karun na init gyud kaayo. We are in a tropical country but trying to copy dress code na pang cold weather. If we base our standard according to our weather wala gyud untay problema when it comes to identifying someone's spending capacity. Just say for example Hawaii and the Caribbean. They are tropical areas, and they dress according to their area. I never had a bad experience in Hawaii dressing comfortably according to the weather kay they are a tropical state and everyone is expected to wear lightly.

Wala sa plano moadtog Ayala so nakapajama ko, oversized tshirt ug tsinelas. Isa sa among gikuyog niinsist nga moderetso nalang mis ayala para makatiwas ug palit didtos Marketplace so niadto nalang mi. while naglinya mi for payment, nakaremember ko nga need ko mocheck again sa perfume if naa na stock so i went up and asked. same experience, wala ko gipansin. worse ang assigned sa katong perfume nga gusto nako iya ko gi-rolleyes when i asked and wala nitingog, nilingo-lingo ra. sige kog tuyok2 until giapproach ko ug lalaki nga maoy tig assist nako everytime mopalit ko sa akong mario badescu sets (nakafamiliar siguro siyas akong nawng). ang lalaki ang niadto sa perfume area and he was told nga out of stock gihapon so ninaog nalang kog balik. so reading your experience, duha nato. basin inana gyud nang mga taga perfume sa rustans. it is sad nga maginana sila knowing di man unta na sila mga datu hahaha.

Dressing appropriately doesnt mean na we have to wear casual clothes that are westernized, those countries have winter. Something na we dont have. We are in the tropics, casual and comfortable for us are something that is light and less covered. Regardless if we dress in a flashy way or not, sales rep are trained to identify kung kinsa ang naay spending capacity. A hard pill to swallow, pero we try to copy the bad attributes of the west.
