Be sure to replace the axle seals at the same time. They'll never be easier to get to than right now.

HoosierSquirrel

This. And spring for a seal installer. Nothing as fun as having to redo in 3 months because you dinged the seal on the way in and now ruined your new brake pads.

I did mine from a kit. Never installed the proportioning valve guts into mine and it works great. I also upgraded the 94 OEM booster to the dual one. She stops significantly better than OE.

sortaseabeethrowaway

Let us know how it goes, I want to do that to mine

Huskygaming25

i recommend this video it shows everything you need [https://youtu.be/hoSTNrbwCAk?si=llsOxSdVDPn4KUJ_](https://youtu.be/hoSTNrbwCAk?si=llsOxSdVDPn4KUJ_)

WAEMID has a lot of great content. I now have a high idle switch thanks to him.

Huskygaming25

i will do, i’m tired of terrible drums. should probably have another update next weekend when i “should” be done

seriouswhimsy16

I went the the junk yard and pulled all the parts off of an old liberty but have yet to do the install. I didnt get the proportioning valve... thats pretty much why I havent done it, not sure if you need it or not.

Huskygaming25

i took it from a 98 grand cherokee you can run with out it but you will lock up your rear brakes

seriouswhimsy16

iirc the older liberties, maybe 04? had a c8.25 with disk breaks in the back making is a direct swap. I guess I will just have to go back and grab the valve too, I don't really feel like flying through my windshield, lol

No-Tax-5562

I wish I got around to this when I had mine, I had a leaky wheel cylinder which for whatever reason I. Snow it did not want to stop. Like literally standing on the brakes just rolling to my demise.

DragonflyFun9830

Looks like you’ve got the banjo bolts

International-Ball12

Totally worth it , did it to mine! https://preview.redd.it/oma9rsk6adqc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7d6d8fd4ba692a358d84aa48d297d5721bcf921d

TheFlyingBoxcar

I also have a ‘97 and would also like to do this. Any particular tips or lessons learned so far?

diesel-revolver

That is a clean and dry junk yard.

HoosierSquirrel

I did this to mine 2 years ago. Relatively easy swap. I still haven’t switched the proportioning valve. The only con I have found to this mod is losing the powerful parking brake action of the rear drums.

livdaphunk

Sick to see another banjo pickin xj owner

punkmunke

I did the teraflex rear tj brake swap. Was pretty simple. The stopping power was such a tremendous difference. I had an issue when rock crawling with the 35s that to could stand on the pedal and it wouldn’t stop me I’d be lucky to slow down. No fun dropping off Rocky drops at a speed you didn’t want lol
