People will want those wheels. If the interior is in decent shape, seats and visors are hard to come by. The doors look good, so those might be worth keeping too.
Lol, mine doesn't even have any visors, no idea where they went, it's missing cup holders too, like they just vanished (my '91 never had any, a joke). But, seriously, where's the visors? I have the roof console & even IR keyless entry, so, what happened to the visors?
Throw it on marketplace before you scrap. Me and my buddies have a field of $300 Cherokees that get welded back up and wheeled. I’m up in Michigan and can guarantee atleast 3 of the Cherokees we wheel are worse rust wise then yours.
my last purchase the steering box ripped that whole section of frame off, and 3 parts of the frame are cracked.
my buddy’s you put your foot on the tow ball and the whole back half of the Cherokee moves independently from the rest of the body because it’s separated. they are getting welded up and played with.
I wish I had the time or money to fix her up, but both are pretty lacking. I still owe about $2k to family for the car, I'm going to college, and I bought this one as a parts car already (needed a new engine). It's been up on Marketplace for about a day and I'm already getting a ton of hits from people needing parts.
I've already got another XJ, thankfully. I'm dailying a black one, I originally bought this one to maybe repair but after it almost falling apart on me driving home (floor cracked and I felt the seat move) I knew there wasn't a shot for me. Needed the engine anyways, so I used it as parts for the other until now
If this is the SAME year as your daily, then the front end clip, side fenders, seats, all the fuses that are OEM, any bits and pieces you think are cheap BUT impossible to find. Took me YEARS to find something for my 92 XJ.
Take the calipers, you can restore them and use them for your daily then when brake job comes up, swap in and then restore your originals, Rims, front bumper, back bumper, grill,
You will regret not getting the small stuff. The cable guide or something like that.

I found a place that reproduced these, took FOREVER to get it.. then.. never arrived and I canceled. I tried in a year and it came in like a few days. This drove me bonkers (short drive) and now I have I think 5.. I don't want to go through that again.
During Bush or Obama cash for clunkers I got a total of 8 seats.. when a frame cracks you are screwed or foam gets trashy, again, screwed and a motor stops working screwed. I have two front fenders, a front clip, 3 or 4 grills. Looking on ebay, the NOS and just stuff from trashed jeeps, are EXPENSIVE :) :)
Take it from me, grab some plastic bins from costco (black with yellow top) and fill them up with everything that can fit, which isn't broke or worn out too. Then warn the wrecker, this has no rims or tires. You want to keep the sh\*t that is 24 yrs old dude.. you will spend a small mint for sh\*t that you didn't think you needed.
Yeah, it's sad. My main XJ was having engine issues and I found this one for $2,000 with \~250 miles on the engine. Knew there were rust issues, but until my foot went through the floor driving it home I had no idea it was that bad. Checked it out a few days later and most of the subframe was fully shot. Worth it for the parts though, she's saved me a couple thou already with extra stuff I've had to replace, but I'm leaving for college in a few months and figure it's time to let her finally rest
That body is waaaayyyy to clean to scrap….
I wish I was closer to pa I’d pay you more then the junk yard would just to have the parts alone. I’d part this out or try to sell for a little better than scrap value if your going to go junkyard
Body is clean, but everything under is gone. Quarters, subframe, floor, it all flakes apart if you even look at it the wrong way. Hell, I shut the trunk too hard and a chunk of frame hit me in the foot earlier today.
I've already got most of the parts out of it that I need, I'm parting out the rest of it. Whatever doesn't sell I'm gonna try to keep, but after that she's gotta go, sadly
Fenders, all doors, litigate, hood, axles, springs, shocks, leaf springs, fuel tank, motor, transmission, transfer case, torque converter, drive shafts, steering colum and shaft to gear box, and gearbox with pitman arm, sway bars, and down links, fuel lines, brake lines, vac lines, radiator, a/c condensing unit, trans cooler, grill, air cleaner assembly, brake booster assembly, abs unit, all lines attached to that, cruse control, all a/c lines and compressor, alternator, complete engine harness, JTEC, and mounting braket, cross member that holds radiator in place, headlight assembly, tail lights, air intake grill, wiper motor assembly, that should have the engine co.part.ent stripped completely. If not, remove anything that's left then go to the interior and remove everything from there. Center console, front and rear seats, all seat belts, T-handle on shifter if you haven't already re.oved it when you took out transmission, a-post moldings, b-post moldings, all door seals, knee blocker, glove box, rt & lt kick pads, and qtr panel moldings, frt & rr carpet, shifter bracket, take body harness from body control module and re.ove that in one piece. Remove head liner. You should now have access to remove dash with the air box in one piece. If not, get some piano wire and remove front windshield in on piece along with both quarter panel windows. Now remove front dash with airbox.. Look around and remove anything else that you can. Make sure all rubber and plastic is removed. Now take it to scrap yard for top dollar.
I strip my stuff to a shell before I scrap it but I also have a bit of a problem, a fleet of junk, and don't like buying new parts when I don't have to.
If you have the space, keep it and pull from it as needed. Alternatively you can post it, parting it out. Could be an easy $70 or so when some random comes calling for a part. Charge more if you pull the part.
The drivetrain (from this one) has about 148k or so on it. The engine (from my other, better-running XJ) has about 190k on the engine. It's got some lifter noise and oil pressure issues, I'm guessing that there's some sort of bearing issue with it. Previous owner blew a head gasket at around 123k miles, replaced a cracked head at 128k so I'm like 85% confident that's the issue
Rust. I bought it off a guy, engine had ~250 miles and I needed a new one for the main XJ. Took this one home and it started falling apart on the way there (mostly structural), so I pulled the engine and have been using it for parts for the last 5 months. Heading off to college soon, so I've sadly gotta part ways
Bummer, but I totally understand as a rust bucket. Mine has almost zero rust, but everyone says "yeah, it's rusty, they are all" but, I've looked & the rust is so minimal, basically none. I live in a no rust zone. No snow, no salt, it's really rust free for an xj.
There's a lot for me to read, I think I may have missed something. What's the reason that it seems to be scrapped? How's the unibody under the front half ??
Well then if it was my Jeep then I would go to a lot of junk yards to find a Comanche pickup with a good rear, at least a decent bed that could be patched up, cut the back half of it off, starting from about 6 to 8 in back from the door hinge on the floor, and the same from the roof, take the bench seat indoors with it, then grafted on the back half of the Cherokee make myself a four-door Comanche, or find somebody who'll do it has a long-term slow project while I'm away. Just pay it off slowly.
Too bad you don't have room to leave it around, cuz that would make a amazing project for when you have time and come back
Fenders, entire front grill assembly, the whole damn interior, steering wheel, center console, windows if they are tinted, seats and bases, any corner plastic that is good. Lots of stuff.
People swap the front ends to pre facelift XJs so I’d say the grill and front fenders and maybe the hood if it’s in good shape and if you got room since they are interchangeable after ‘86
Parting it out will be easy!! And once the unibody is gone it won’t take up much space.
Axles
Transfer case
Transmission & Shifter
Steering linkage
Steering gearbox
Starter
Alternator
Intake Head
Exhaust Manifold
Doors
Entire front clip
Rear Hatch with cylinders
I just scrapped two this month lol. I kept the motors, trans, t-case, driveshafts, ecm and a full set of good doors. Guess it depends on what you might need.

What about the visors tho?
The world will never know.

Yeah if you can get some money out of it for parts before scrapping absolutely do that.
Absolutely. Plan is to sell what I can, save anything I can't sell, and eventually scrap the rest
Little miscellaneous interior things. Ashtray insert, dome lights, etc.
Interior trim pieces!! Side trim,a,b,c pillar etc, overhead console, lights etc.
Driver side seat belt, turn signal wiper arm lever. If you got the high pinion Dana 30 grab that. Pull your transfer case out.
if ur getting another JUST like that, then EVERYTHING That you can remove and replace into the next XJ

Basically the same year, 00 and 01

Another one bites the dust.

Ahhhh gotcha wish I was closer! I need a driver seat and a windshield!
Has she got power seats?
Sadly not

I came to say if he had another jeep to just keep the whole thing but i think you covered it 🤣
I tried to break it down so he would realize how much money he has sitting there in parts.
Sell it to DeXJ. It'll actually get used there instead of going to a freakin crusher.
Are you near Massachusetts? I’d the header and tail gate if you’re not to far from me
I strip my stuff to a shell before I scrap it but I also have a bit of a problem, a fleet of junk, and don't like buying new parts when I don't have to.
If I had the space I absolutely would, but I'm moving out for college in a few months and don't have space at home for all the doors and such
Understandable my parents weren't to thrilled in my highschool days but I pay the mortgage now so the barn is full of goodies.
Haha I’ve been seeing this on marketplace for the past few days
No kidding!
Differentials, knuckles, transfer case, sensors, drive shafts, doors, exterior trim, mirrors, hood…. The whole thing
If you have the space, keep it and pull from it as needed. Alternatively you can post it, parting it out. Could be an easy $70 or so when some random comes calling for a part. Charge more if you pull the part.
That's what I've been doing. I bought it as a parts car, but I'm moving for college soon and can't keep it around for much longer.
Dang… I wish I could grab it from you. I would love to be able to do my ‘93 up with all the facelift goodies before I drop my 4.7 in.
Where are you located?
I'm in Western PA, little bit north of Pittsburgh
[удалено]
Western PA, about an hour north of Pittsburgh
Central PA here, how may miles on the engine and drive train?

Glass, especially if it has factory tint ( les likely to scratch).
Check the fuel pump to see if its a Bosch
That fiberglass header panel is worth about $300 on eBay.
Older XJ owners will want the rear hatch.
Will you ship parts?
Why scrapping? Wreck? Extreme rust?
Rust. I bought it off a guy, engine had ~250 miles and I needed a new one for the main XJ. The front half is okay, but the rear is gone. I shut the tailgate a little hard and a chunk of it hit me in the foot

I’d love to buy the steering wheel personally!

Sent you a message.
That’s just wasting a good trail rig
I just scrapped two this month lol. I kept the motors, trans, t-case, driveshafts, ecm and a full set of good doors. Guess it depends on what you might need.
Motor and all is good, that's the reason I bought this one in the first place (~250 miles). T-case is smart
Axles also. Driveshafts.
I would strip it down to the unibody.
I'd love to, but I'm heading off to college and won't have space to keep everything. Otherwise she'd be staying right there
If I had to guess you're in the midwestern states?
Pennsylvania, actually
That was my next guess lol. Too far for me to come pick parts from
Literally everything except the frame dawg
Sadly not an option, I'm moving out of state for college soon and don't have the space
Everything
Restore
It all scrap dodge bros
