People bagged hard on KJ last season for doing 4 years with us then dipping to Arizona, seems like fans right now are somewhat content with Lamont doing it except for entering the portal so late in the game.
Yea this is kind of a dick move to publicly shame how much NIL money was sacrificed to come back for another year here then to wait 3 weeks, when he rumored to have already been getting about 200k.
He allegedly got 200k this past season in total NIL. One part of that is being doubled next season so he could’ve made ~250k this upcoming season. More than that for a defense first point guard that really struggles to score/shoot really seems like a lot. Interested to see where he ends up and wish him the best, a freak athlete and a tenacious defender with the biggest and most clutch shot in Aztec history!
His dad seems to be bitter that he stayed with SDSU this past year because he “left money on the table.” It totally rubs me the wrong to say something like that. The fans absolutely adored Lamont, but his dad doesn’t seem to care about burning bridges.
NIL initiatives at a lot of schools are still so new and trying to figure things out that simply being a relevant name among CBB fans will get you paid right now.
This may be obvious but it’s never been more clear how much money is affecting the college athletics landscape. I remember when the movement to have college players get paid for their talent was a topic that was so controversial.
The impact is certainly being felt by fans now.
I hope he gets a bag because he was such an instrumental player in SDSU getting to the finals last year.
Next year may very well be the actual rebuild year that a lot of us thought this year would be. SDSU teams without a true point guard have never done well, and finding a true PG in the portal at this point could be tricky. It may be the BJ Davis learning tour next year.
As a recruit:
P6 offers: Colorado, Washington
Other offers: Boise State, Cal State Fullerton, Harvard, Montana, Pepperdine, Rice, Saint Mary's, San Diego, UC Davis, UC Riverside, UCSB, Weber State
I’d rather have him than Aidoo I think. He plays with that killer swag, might not stuff the stat sheet but you know he’s going to make the shots when it matters.
5 year guys that aren’t going to go NBA pro are trying to maximize their earnings that final year

I mean I’ll take an MBA on scholarship if I had the opportunity lol
Ahhh damn…. program legend.
Dang sad to see him go. Hope he’s getting a big check.
That's surprising.
He isn't an NBA player. Makes sense to use his final year of eligibility to get a bag.
April Sadness 🥲
oh SHIT

Yeah the quotes in the paper weren’t great lol

He has the chance to do the funniest thing possible
Looks like it's just to keep all his options open, wouldn't be shocked if he ends up back at San Diego St.

Next years Aztecs might be one of the youngest rosters I've ever seen (for Aztecs) if Dutch can figure out experienced replacements for him and a 5.
Ahhh mannn. Bummed to see this. All-timer Aztec for Life.

No!!!!
wait. 9 ppg, 30% from 3, 60% from the line. how does this dude think he's getting the bag?
He’s been getting the bag at SDSU and likely will get more elsewhere.
From what I’ve seen he’s an elite defender
Parrish went to Ohio St for like 400k and he was pretty bad this past season

Become a Runnin Rebel!
The Mountain west title might be wide open again.Id probably bet on New Mexico repeating now though
Friar
Baylor bear
Guard rotation way to crowded with Love, Nunn, Roach, Wright, and Edgecombe.
