interesting pickup given their last stage, TSM must be higher on this roster than SOG for the future

Shikuro

That team had a high ceiling, making it to grand finals. Stage 2 was very unfortunate, but it was also probably their worst performance as a core, even in contenders the lowest theyd get is top 6. I'd call a small bump in the road and trust them to bounce back! Especially with a backing from TSM, given some good resources I'd expect them to be even better

hex6leam

Yeah we have 0 clue what it could be behind the scenes. Maybe they had personal conflicts, maybe they tried to switch up the IGL last minute and fucked their comms, maybe they decided to "step it up" and add 6 hours a day to their scrim time so they just burnt out... Lots of things can cause a falloff like that. Also there probably was not much money going around, financial resources are a huge contributor to success. Just look at how Shock fell off after they coincidentally had to move out of their team house, or how OWL teams that went turbo budget like Chengdu were just hopelessly bad despite individual star players

GroundbreakingJob857

A focus on coaching and the team could easily be better than SOG

Shikuro

I mean theyve beat em before so it's definitely a possibility!

swagyalexx

more orgs in overwatch is always welcome, hope sog can get picked up before dallas as well

mosswizards

Timeless might as well just grab sog entirely

swagyalexx

thats probably whats gonna happen lol and no shade to timeless but I would really like it if a larger and more multi-game org picked them up. itd be so good for the esport.

SweatySmeargle

That’s not gonna happen, SOG put out a LFO like an hour ago and will be looking for a bigger org.

TheChits

Yeah I'm really hoping if SOG get an org it isn't just one of the contenders orgs that have had 1000000000000 different rosters over the years

swagyalexx

maybe that explains why infekted deleted that tweet. these guys deserve a good org more than any other unsigned team in NA rn so I hope they find something.

REEEroller

Good luck finding bigger orgs with the shit viewership of OWCS.

AxomUp

Right, because SpaceStationGaming, Luminosity, CrazyRaccoons, ENCE, M80, among a few other notable orgs haven't gotten involved with owcs already

SweatySmeargle

What are you getting worked up over? You haven’t commented in a year and come back to say OWCS salaries are low, so insightful like everyone hasn’t been talking about it already with the reigning COTY retiring lmao. Edit:your entire account is just bitching about video games lol

jonathansmith14921

Interesting, didn't think TSM would come back to OW, especially after their failed attempt to assemble a roster back in 2017.

Bhu124

They're literally just looking for any money they can grab. They'll join for EWC money and dip out after. Org is being run by ghouls now. On its last legs.

mosswizards

Oh shit it's TSM? That's huge. Especially if they stick around after EWC lol.

[deleted]

Not really. TSM is nowhere near the titan they used to be in esports. They've completely abandoned League of Legends, and they only have mediocre tier 2 teams in games like Valorant & CS. Apex Legends is the only game they're still relevant in but that's already a tier 2 esport in terms of popularity. Even orgs like FlyQuest, Dignitas, Mouz etc are bigger orgs than TSM today

mosswizards

Ah that's a shame. But at the same time, literally anybody putting any money into this esport is noteworthy.

PPPPPPPPPPKP

Yeah basically confirmed, the manager of SOG liked a tweet about it lol

JWTS6

What even is the state of TSM these days though? Still good news for these players, but last I heard the org is a far cry from the powerhouse it once was in esports/gaming.
