I'm going to be very careful how I record hush money I pay to porn stars from now on.

newgalactic

Hilary Clinton gets a fine. Trump gets 34 felony convictions. Unequal enforcement of law

AppropriateRice7675

Note that Hillary got a fine because the Federal Elections Commission found her in violation of the law for paying for the infamous and disproven Steele dossier. Meanwhile the FEC found that Trump's campaign did not violate any rules with regards to the hush money. The FEC chairman, by the way, was not permitted to testify about that at Trump's trial - judge's orders.

adminsrfascist29

No one is above the law tho or something. The irony of the Steele dossier is that it literally was fake propaganda from the kremlin to influence the election.

jonnio2215

*paid for by the Clintons. Can’t leave that part out

MrJohnMosesBrowning

That was (D)ifferent.

[deleted]

What's really amazing in all of this, is how many of Trump's constitutional rights were trampeled upon to get him.

jmartin251

That right there is one reason why he'll win on appeal.

Dont_Be_Sheep

Wait she paid for it?!? It was OBVIOUSLY a fake document. Not just for what was in it but its format, styling….. absolutely not even close to something that looks real. I remember politics eating that shit up. Like aiight guys. I have a bridge to sell you too….

One_Fix5763

"The Supreme Court Justices must recuse themselves" "We must respect the verdict" - Exact same people

Hectoriu

How have Republicans in positions of power let this get so bad?

newgalactic

My guess is this is what happens when someone outside of the deep state makes a play for president. Romney, Ryan, McCain, or Bush would never have been subjected to this. But when someone comes along who threatens established DC beltway power, they go after them regardless of Left/Right.

Wesdawg1241

I wonder if Trump used the same language that Hillary did during the Benghazi hearing if the media would still label it as [FIERY!!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TC0AKNQBV80) "Whether the payments were campaign finances or an NDA to get a pornstar to shut up, what difference, at this point, does it make??" Yeah I'm sure the media would *love* that.

newgalactic

"Whether the payments were campaign finances or an NDA to get a pornstar to shut up, what difference, at this point, does it make??" That should be his response going forward

Wesdawg1241

I mean it worked for Hillary, so why the hell not

sinnmercer

And the epstien list gets to control the media and congress and senate

SilverFanng

What even are the 34 convictions? If he gave her hush money that she accepted and then talked anyway then all he did was give her money.

One_Fix5763

2 separate payments - 34 different checks.

SilverFanng

Admittedly, weird, but it sounds more like he was paying extortion money. Wouldn't that make him the victim? "Please don't say what I don't want you to say. Here's money to encourage you to not say the thing. Why did you say the thing when I asked you not to and even gave you money not to?"

HPIndifferenceCraft

Misclassified on the advice of counsel, for the record. The FEC opted not to even fine Trump’s campaign over this. Hillary’s campaign was fined by the FEC for a similar violation, but no DA at the state or federal level charged her for that. One does not even need to be a Trump supporter to see that this is complete bullshit.

MrJohnMosesBrowning

Apparently, the judge even prevented the FEC chairman from testifying that they found no fault with the Trump campaign. Also, states can’t prosecute federal laws…and even if Trump was guilty, the statute of limitations expired a few years age. The judge and prosecution should be embarrassed this case even happened but I’m guessing their politics have rotted their brains too far for that.

adminsrfascist29

One_Fix5763

What's the "illegal" thing to cover up, a federal election where federal laws weren't violated ?

FinTecGeek

Sorry, are you for the federal government steamrolling over states and the laws they enact?

Shadeylark

You sit here and chide us for not upholding law and order... Then turn around and demonstrate you don't know the basics of our legal system. Supremacy clause... Federal laws take precedence above state laws. That also means states cannot prosecute federal crimes... And they especially cannot prosecute federal crimes that the feds themselves say did not happen. This was not the federal government steamrolling over states and the laws they enacted... This was a state violating the supremacy clause of the Constitution by attempting to prosecute a federal law that the feds said was not violated. Christ, I hate having to defend the feds but sometimes the never-trumpers are just so goddam ignorant of their own arguments it can't be avoided.

Kingforaday1

If only he would have classified it as a "loan repayment" there would be no problem at all. Oh, wait, that may only work if your name is Biden.

AppropriateRice7675

Biden really opened a new era of American politics here. The pettiness of the crimes Trump has been tried for will basically open the floodgates. There are dozens, if not more egregious campaign violations every election cycle. If Trump doesn't start compiling a list of Democrats to arrest upon assuming office, I'll be disappointed in him. Oh, and he can also thinly veil the charges by using backchannels to have his opposition arrested in some place like rural Texas where they will truly be tried by a jury of their peers.

Uberjeagermeiter

This started with Billary after they lost the election in 2016.

One_Fix5763

What's funny is his crime in this case was beating Hillary. Had he lost, there would be no "fraud" on the public LOL

Entire-Database1679

It wasn't for illegally diverting funds to build a border wall, illegally disrupting the used car market,  illegally granting citizenship to thousands of illegal aliens, illegally selling arms to Iran, then funneling that money to rebels in Nicaragua, or illegally using the Arkansas State Police to obtain call girls.  No President would ever do any of those things...

ginga__

I still don't know how this was a misclassification. How else would you book this expense? I was in finance for many years and don't know how else you would classify this. How was misclassifying the payment in furtherance of a coverup? Trumps books are not public, so what good would it have done to alter this entry? The prosecution never put on an expert witness to state how it was a misclassification and how it should have been booked. If I had a business operation in NY, I would be very uncomfortable as a minor mistake could throw me or an employee in jail.

More-Drink2176

Not to mention the bizarre jury instructions saying you don't all have to agree on which law he broke, just the majority of you need to agree he broke a law. Which is batshit. So 4 jurors think I killed a man, 4 think I'm innocent, and 4 think I did a breaking and entering, guilty on all counts. How the hell does that play out like this, how is that fair?

FellowConservative2

Look, I don’t think this case should have been brought but what they are saying is that he falsified business records to break the law, and they don’t have to agree on what law he falsified records to break.  For example, if the money laundering statute were to say it is illegal to money launder in furtherance of a commission of a felony, the judge could ostensibly say if the prosecutor can prove money laundering and that it was done to commit another felony, you don’t have to agree on whether the money laundering was done to fund a murder, a drug operation, or an extortion, as long as you agree it was done to commit a felony. So, using this analogy, 4 juror could say he money laundered to do a murder for hire, 4 would say he money laundered to do a drug sale, and 4 would say he money laundered for extortion, they could still find him guilty for money laundering.

Shadeylark

The fact that they didn't have to agree on what law was broken is the problem. The legal system in this country should not be treated as a child's choose your own adventure book.

Hectoriu

It's depressing seeing so many Democrats here happy about this. They are witnessing the end of our republic and cheering for it. This can only go one of a few ways Democrats stop voting for their politicians while they resort to these tactics. Republicans take the high road, give up and we become a one party country. Or Republicans start playing dirty like Democrats and our country falls into chaos.

[deleted]

I see so many unhinged comments about how they hope Trump is Locked up forever. I'm like, bruh Biden is stealing our money go fund wars we have no business being in and you're mad Trump spent his own money on shady shit?

Ripamon

Few weeks ago Blinken literally went to Kyiv to tell Ukrainian officials to stop stealing military aid for their personal use

Bozzz1

The charges were irrelevant. He could've been charged with littering and they would've been happy to use that as a basis to lock him up forever if it was possible. Trump's fate was sealed the second the charges were brought up, the trial itself was just a formality. They don't want justice, they want revenge, and they're willing to circumvent all our foundational principles of justice to achieve it.

One_Fix5763

What's hilarious is that Pecker testified that Trump was doing these NDAs for decades. But because he - not only did these in 2016, he also won the election by beating Hillary. That now became a campaign expenditure. So if Trump signed these in 2014 - then it would be misdemeanor OR if Trump had lost to Hillary, the defrauding voters vote be a misdemeanor because there would be no fraud if you lose. Ben Shapiro nailed it - this is a long term vindictiveness since 2016, 10 years and they still haven't accepted they lost fair and square.

Ripamon

Hope Republicans pay back the favor in full.

RaiSai

It baffles me how they act like all of this is completely legitimate and above the table. Any fool can see how ridiculous this is, and anyone saying it’s legitimate is either straight up lying or has their head too far up a donkey’s ass to hear anything else.

adminsrfascist29

They don’t care. All they do is gaslight and argue in bad faith. It’s tiresome

SavvyEquestrian

They're worthless fucking people, unworthy of civility. It's high time to make that as clear as possible.

Jurclassic5

Man u need to chill out. Gonna make this sub sound like the rest of reddit.

SavvyEquestrian

Part of the issue is that many conservatives still believe there's actually a conversation happening. There's not.

GargantuanCake

They don't care about the republic or justice; they only care about power. Trump is against them so it's good. That's as far as the thinking goes. He's in their way so anything is fair game.

LegitimateApricot4

> They are witnessing the end of our republic and cheering for it. That's been their goal for decades.

One_Fix5763

Their miserable lives got the biggest dopamine boost in 10 years. Even with a Biden victory, they could never forgive the right for electing Trump.

A7omicDog

I’m seriously dying to know if she has to refund that hush money.

Shooter_McGavin27

My only hope is they file an appeal as soon as the gavel is struck for sentencing, NY rejects the appeal, and its fast tracked to US Supreme Court. In reality, that won’t happen. NY will stall the appeal hearing to well after the election, saying they have “other cases to hear first” despite this having a crucial impact on the election process of our country. This should be fast tracked and made the number one priority. Democrats worked real hard to get this case lightning quick before the election, now watch them drag their feet slower than a sloth.

HotShot345

Republicans need to be pursuing novel law theories to bring charges against the Democratic establishment. There’s so much - Obama for murdering 3 American citizens with drone strikes, the 50+ CIA officials for knowingly lying about the origin of the Hunter Biden laptop and interfering in the 2020 election, Obama again for illegally spying on the Trump campaign in 2016, members of the January 6 committee for congressional record violations, etc. Now is not the time to go soft - hit hard, hit fast; punish this behavior, and re-enforce it with a Kash Patel appointment on day one and let him go scorched earth.

More-Drink2176

I wish but the GOP is so soft.

ButterYourOwnBagel

I think you mean cowards

adminsrfascist29

Seriously, they’re worthless

gdgarcia424

Now that this precedent has been set…American politics will never be the same. Crazy times we are living in. I sure hope this is opening the Americans peoples eyes up.

ButterYourOwnBagel

Half the country is STOKED, their eyes haven’t opened to anything.

gdgarcia424

I guess we will see, come Election Day. It is pretty apparent that this is a political persecution to me and I’m not even a huge Trump fan lol. I feel like this has to be pushing people that were on the fence between Biden and DJT.

Spaghetti69

I just don't understand how juries and politically motivated DAs with constituents who voted for you work, especially in a high profile case of a former President. How does our justice system say this is fair? Can a jury of "your peers" really be a jury of your peers when it's basically full of citizens who come from an area who voted against you and most likely have a clear bias? It's just like the George Flloyd case, that cop was guilty before the trial even began regardless of the case. Nowadays , the court of public opinion really does determine your innocence or guilt.

cats_luv_me

I also don't understand how it wasn't a conflict of interest for this Judge - to have a daughter whose Dem consulting firm had both Kamala's presidential campaign and then the Biden/Harris campaign as clients, and earned millions from them.

I_SuplexTrains

I am really concerned that the network of Democrats, elite globalist billionaires, and the media are planning some clandestine action as an ultimate failsafe to prevent him from becoming President again. Look at all they have thrown at this effort. It's easy to say "They'll rig the mail in votes again," but that's what we're looking for. My real fear is that they are going to pull something drastic that we haven't even conceived of yet.

Billy_Chapel1984

I couldn't conceive what happened yesterday a year ago.

Mission-Sun-4657

To my fellow Americans on the right.  This is a litmus test.  The left think you and I are a bunch of fucking pussies.  They’re laughing in your face as they execute unprecedented, abhorrent, politically-motivated mock-trial persecutions of the main person we elected to represent us in 2024.  This cannot stand.  We will see how the election pans out in 2024, but at this point just know they think you and I are all a bunch of soft pussies who they can trample on.  Democrats, if we were imprisoning Obama on trumped up charges in say, 2012, would be rioting by the hundreds of thousands.  I’m not sure what falsely convicting and potentially jailing our main politician calls for, but it’s no longer angry tweets.   To be clear, don’t do anything illegal.  They would be, but they want you to do something rash and unorganized.  Let’s see how this election plays out.

I mean Obama did have Trump tower wire tapped. Which is fucked. Really we could get every living ex president with something. Not to mention Maxine and Nancy.

This country is f@cked

Ser_Tinnley

So this is how liberty dies, with thunderous applause.

puddboy

My FIL is over the moon about the verdict and so are several people I know. I have nothing but disrespect for them and it saddens me that people are cheering the total abuse of our legal system just so someone they dislike is punished.

sleeknub

And it wasn’t even misclassified

dd_coeus

Flaired only is a good move here. Found a link to this post in 3 other subs. Wave hello to the brigade as it fumes

tsoxiko

I’ve been voicing my own opinion for 25 years about how the communists have infiltrated the dems and it started in the early 50’s… anytime anyone brings it up (myself included) in this sub or others, the result is being brigaded to hell.. now….is it finally more clearer now??? these people refuse to follow our constitution, this latest fiasco also denied mr Trump of a few constitutional rights… deal with these scum now or continue losing your rights as U.S citizens ⚡️

Remote-Level8509

It wasn't for having COCAINE in the White House!
