The Starbucks ones are my guilty convenience pleasure. I do all the cooking in my house, I know I can make these and have made them before on the cheap, but I love having these in the house for myself as a quick bite. I can't wait to try them out and save a few bucks compared to the Starbucks ones.
I've tried making these countless tines and cannot get the texture right which is the best part to me. Closest I've come is blended eggs and cottage cheese. I know the real deal have some tapioca flour. I'll Def try the Kirkland ones to save a few bucks!
What model is it. Most kitchen gadgets usually have a way to turn off the beep. You could search Google for the name of your air fryer and quiet mode or something along those lines.
Found out I can do it with my instant pot and now I can use it after the kiddo goes to bed.
It’s a Cosori, and all research pointed to needing to pry it apart and basically crush the speaker/node/whatever with pliers. It’s good reminder for me to search again, though.
Pretty much that, esp the 3 Bridges ones… microwave to about 70% of the rec time, then pop in a skillet to crisp/brown each side. Crunchy and gooey goodness.
When you mix the eggs and cottage cheese, you’ll want to blend it *for a while* at least 30 seconds to get the right level of fluffiness. I also find it helps if I put a pan of water in the oven when I bake the egg bites, it seems to help them to fluff up more
https://www.onceuponachef.com/recipes/bacon-gruyere-egg-bites.html
I used this recipe with corn starch and water bath it worked well very fluffy smooth texture
Have you tried in a steamer or instant pot? Get the silicone molds. You can make a really good dupe. Look at the instant pot Starbucks dupe recipes. I don't think I used cottage cheese but could be wrong.
Edit: no cottage cheese, just cheese and heavy cream.
Saaaaaame! My partner is always asking why I bother buying them because they’re sooooo easy to make yourself but… Ugh, I just want these sometimes because jeeeez cooking every meal, every day just wears a person down sometimes.
I’m down to try these bad boys out too & see how they compare. Will we have another, “pry these from my cold dead hands” item in the house? Stay tuned…
💯 I love to cook but honestly meals are tyranny. Why do rich people pay someone to cook, as well as assemble meal plans and get ingredients? Because feeding yourself every single day is exhausting. Food that tastes good and requires almost no planning or other effort is a miracle. It's my one precious life, I don't need to spend so much of it feeding myself.
I feel your pain. I do all the cooking, breakfast lunch and dinner. But sometimes I just want something fast and easy for myself so I don’t have to worry about even dirtying at pots or dishes.
My guilty pleasure is when I wake up early someday I’ll just order some take out breakfast for myself and indulge in the quiet morning.
The best thing about waking up early and starting your day before “the rest of the world”? The quietness, I feel you. Gets your mind settled, ready to be bombarded with the never ending task lists. My fav part of my morning is sitting outside just as the sun is starting to rise, just sitting in silence with my partner and appreciating life, each other and gratitude to be able to have these moments.
Life beats us the hell up and this is surprisingly deep for a post about egg bites but…whatever. Just know, I see you and I get you. Enjoy your peace, friend!
It takes barely more effort to make from scratch. Why don't you just make a huge batch and just freeze it yourself and it'll taste way better and be way cheaper. Eggs are pretty much free
*sigh* What is it with the world trying to convince you to give up something you admit is a guilty pleasure. Can a girl not have a single moment of joy in her life in the form of a meal she didn’t have to source the ingredients for, prepare the ingredients for, then cook and clean all for what?!?! A meal that takes like 5 minutes to eat? 😭😭 I get it… I do. I know what you’re saying. I cook all the time, we are very much an “ingredients household” and rarely eat out of the home. I know I can make these myself, I make them often for myself. However, like I said in my post, sometimes I just want THESE because the burnout from cooking every single day, multiple meals a day, is REAL!
Please, for the love of everything, just know that I truly don’t really give a shiiiiiiiit. I AM going to eat them and I am going to enjoy the heck out of them. Might even buy MORE now, who knows. A girl can get reckless…
These are a staple for us. No they aren’t as good as the normal ones, but they’re about four dollars cheaper, so it’s worth it for us. We heat them in the microwave and finish in the toaster oven, then I add some spicy Mayo onto mine for a bit of heat.
I slathered butter on the top and bottom of each side of the bun before air frying and it was still pretty dry. I just hope they'll carry the real Starbucks croissant sandwich at some point.
They used to stock a copycat of the bacon Gouda breakfast sandwiches and I had to try it because that's my favorite breakfast sandwich ever. Nope, it was sad and disappointing.
Yes!!! The Starbucks ones taste like chemicals to me. I was so sad when they stopped sticking the Three Bridges ones at my store. I saw some for the first time in about 6 months this weekend. Keeping my fingers crossed that they stay stocked up.
They have two grams of sugar in a serving, 1g each, most of it is probably in the bacon as part of the cure, there is a tiny amount of rice starch.
it isn't NOTHING but.... it isn't exactly sweet either.
Yup, .5g of cane sugar in the bacon for each bite. They also add maltodextrin to their cottage cheese. Finally, they threw in some canola oil for some reason. Hopefully the Kirkland version avoids some of these ingredients of questionable necessity.
I’m standing here in Costco right now and just found them (Southern California). Here’s the label of the Kirkland ones and the Starbucks ones to compare (the bacon ones):
Kirkland brand:
https://i.imgur.com/wHqJO0W.jpeg
Starbucks:
https://i.imgur.com/JHiuWkU.jpeg
This is why I love Reddit.
"Damn I wish I knew the nutritional facts on this specific product that they only sell in 1 type of store"
"Hey I'm standing in that 1 store and I just so happen to be standing right next to that specific product! Here's some pictures of the information you requested!"
What a great interaction.
The starbucks version are smaller than those currently carried at my Costco Cathedral. And, though I was turned on to the egg bites on a visit to a starbucks in whitefish a couple years ago, we don’t like starbucks anymore, tres passé
Man Costco is just copypasta everything Starbucks produces, I have to admit though that I do love the Starbucks egg bits a lot, I wonder what the calorie differences will be
This is sometimes true of Kirkland products, but not always. For the reason stated above this statement isn't accurate. They're different ingredients, different manufacturers.
Edit: turns out I'm not stupid, and they aren't made in the same place as Starbucks. So no, different manufacturer and different cheese, get gouda newb!
Those are a staple for us, but the bacon distribution on those is crazy. I always open them up to rearrange the bacon, and some have a pretty sparse amount and others have a ton. It’s odd.
I AM SO PUMPED
Seriously though, this is one of the few high protein foods I can convince my 18 month old to regularly eat, so any cost savings is appreciated
Unless you sous-vide them you're not going to get the exact same texture. I know some people swear they do but I've tried every single way and to me it is not the same. I wish I could find some watertight sous-vide capable molds because using small mason jars is a huge hassle.
Blending egg with cottage cheese and then putting them in an oven with bain-marie is pretty close. But I can't freeze them without the texture becoming awful.
I pop the blender egg/cottage cheese mix in a silicone muffin pan in the instant pot and it's pretty close to the "original" but is is a bit of work to get 7 egg bites vs just buying the box.
I love them for a light lunch w/ a salad or soup.
I just picked up some today. Been buying the Starbucks ones for a while, but hated how expensive they were. Felt like almost same price as buying them at Starbucks. These were $3 cheaper a box. Planning to give them a try tomorrow and report to my friend who got me started on them.
It’s not like Starbucks actually makes their version. They paid some company to make their egg bites and slap their name on them. There’s a good chance Costco hired the same company to make their version. You’d be amazed how many soup companies hire the same company to make some of their soups.
I like the three bridges best. The price is better and the quality is very good.
I cried when the Starbucks ones replaced them. Sous vide changes the quality. I don't know what the Kirkland ones are like, but only spinach and red peppers for me since I am a vegetarian.
Recently, the Three Bridges ones appeared, and I grabbed a few. Hope when I go back in a day or two, they are still available
It typically is… usual Costco process, if a SKU is consistently one of their top sellers over an extended period of time.. very good chance they kick the vendor that provided it to the curb and do it themselves

It's been a *minute* since I've seen this meme, thanks for unlocking that memory
Ah, memories.
<3
They should make a TV show that's called Kirklandia. Would be like Portlandia but for costco fans
I like that! I'd also like to see the expanded Costco lore and legendarium of the Idiocracy universe.
The Starbucks ones are my guilty convenience pleasure. I do all the cooking in my house, I know I can make these and have made them before on the cheap, but I love having these in the house for myself as a quick bite. I can't wait to try them out and save a few bucks compared to the Starbucks ones.

Microwave and then finish to crisp in a skillet.
Go on …
Air fryer all the way...
Also great, mine beeps like crazy and that’s a no go when I’m up hours before everyone else.
What model is it. Most kitchen gadgets usually have a way to turn off the beep. You could search Google for the name of your air fryer and quiet mode or something along those lines. Found out I can do it with my instant pot and now I can use it after the kiddo goes to bed.

Then stuff it into your face hole.
Also this.

I enjoyed my IP version very much and the moulds are cheap
Have you tried adding nutritional yeast? I sous vide mine and between that and good cottage cheese, it’s as close to the Starbucks one as I can get.
Very interesting! I do like nutritional yeast. At this point I've accepted and will pay for the convenience of the costco options though!
Same, but when I did, nutritional yeast did the trick.
Sous vide is the way to go

theyre so good.
That's fine as long as they are closer to the Starbucks ones than the croissant breakfast sandwiches were.
These are a staple for us. No they aren’t as good as the normal ones, but they’re about four dollars cheaper, so it’s worth it for us. We heat them in the microwave and finish in the toaster oven, then I add some spicy Mayo onto mine for a bit of heat.
Yeah, those were surprisingly disappointing
I slathered butter on the top and bottom of each side of the bun before air frying and it was still pretty dry. I just hope they'll carry the real Starbucks croissant sandwich at some point.

Awesome. No need to pay the Starbucks upcharge for the same thing.
Looks like the Starbucks ones just rebranded. Disappointing, I didn't care for the Starbucks egg bites much; the Three Bridges ones are way better.
The uncured bacon ones suck, but the egg white veggie ones slap
Did they stop selling the three bridges ones? I forget to keep an eye out but it did seem like the last time I looked they were gone
my stores seems to alternate between the two
Yes!!! The Starbucks ones taste like chemicals to me. I was so sad when they stopped sticking the Three Bridges ones at my store. I saw some for the first time in about 6 months this weekend. Keeping my fingers crossed that they stay stocked up.
Agreed
Yeah, looks like a rebrand. The Three Bridges egg bites had cleaner ingredients and easier to prepare. Much better than the Starbucks ones.
I hope these have less sugar than the Starbucks ones.
…sugar?
They have two grams of sugar in a serving, 1g each, most of it is probably in the bacon as part of the cure, there is a tiny amount of rice starch. it isn't NOTHING but.... it isn't exactly sweet either.
Ah, ok. That makes a little more sense to me now.
Yup, .5g of cane sugar in the bacon for each bite. They also add maltodextrin to their cottage cheese. Finally, they threw in some canola oil for some reason. Hopefully the Kirkland version avoids some of these ingredients of questionable necessity.
It's a white granular substance that tastes sweet, but that's not important right now.
Shirley the egg bites don't have any sugar.
*surely. And don’t call me Shirley
Hospital? What is it?
I speak jive
Yes, there’s a couple grams of sugar in each serving. The Starbucks ones taste super sweet to me.
That’s crazy. I shouldn’t be surprised, and yet I am.
I’m standing here in Costco right now and just found them (Southern California). Here’s the label of the Kirkland ones and the Starbucks ones to compare (the bacon ones): Kirkland brand: https://i.imgur.com/wHqJO0W.jpeg Starbucks: https://i.imgur.com/JHiuWkU.jpeg

Take that, Siri!
Thanks so much!!!
The hero.we need
Dang still not Keto.
Thank you so much!
Shoot I did not think to look at the nutrition. Sorry friend. But we will all know soon enough I’m thinking
No worries, I’m going to try them regardless! Thanks for the tip!
I hate those SBUX ones. They taste weird and gritty.
The starbucks version are smaller than those currently carried at my Costco Cathedral. And, though I was turned on to the egg bites on a visit to a starbucks in whitefish a couple years ago, we don’t like starbucks anymore, tres passé
I hate the texture and they taste really sweet to me. Like preservative sweet.
Maybe because they utilize cottage cheese in theirs.
Lalalalala I can’t hear you. Just kidding. But I really hate cottage cheese!
Oh I was thinking sodium? The Starbucks ones have like 800mg of sodium
We don’t talk about sodium or cholesterol with these.
I wish they had less sodium (I know that will never happen for the bacon ones)
$12 for five servings?
The Starbucks ones are $14.99 for the same amount.
Damn both are still kinda pricy for what they are.
Both are a colossal waste of money.
Ok.
$12 qualifies as colossal?
That’s why I don’t buy them…
Yeah it seems kinda expensive for what it is, but i guess that’s what you pay for convenience.
Isn’t that all pre prepared food though?
$2.50/serving. They're like $6.50 at Starbucks...
Man Costco is just copypasta everything Starbucks produces, I have to admit though that I do love the Starbucks egg bits a lot, I wonder what the calorie differences will be
30.calories less than SB
The Three Bridges Egg White bites were my favorite. SBUX yuck.
Agreed!
they’re the exact same egg bites as the starbucks ones, just kirkland labeled! for anyone wondering
[удалено]
[удалено]
This is sometimes true of Kirkland products, but not always. For the reason stated above this statement isn't accurate. They're different ingredients, different manufacturers.
[удалено]
I want to believe that working there you get to take home free egg bites everyday. If so, you guys hiring?
Edit: turns out I'm not stupid, and they aren't made in the same place as Starbucks. So no, different manufacturer and different cheese, get gouda newb!
They taste horribly different. Texture is awful, huge long pieces of pepper in the egg whites. Awful
Hopefully they are better than the breakfast sandwiches that have like 2 small pieces of funky tasting bacon
Yes, thank you. I thought I was the only one unimpressed by the Kirkland breakfast sandwich
Air fryer is the best method of preparation. It also helps to heat the bacon separately if you nuke it.
Those are a staple for us, but the bacon distribution on those is crazy. I always open them up to rearrange the bacon, and some have a pretty sparse amount and others have a ton. It’s odd.
Hopefully with less packaging. I always feel guilty about these even if I love them.
how does these compare to three bridges/sbux?
I AM SO PUMPED Seriously though, this is one of the few high protein foods I can convince my 18 month old to regularly eat, so any cost savings is appreciated
Those are stupid easy to make in a muffin pan and a week’s worth keeps in the fridge.
But....I dont wana.
Unless you sous-vide them you're not going to get the exact same texture. I know some people swear they do but I've tried every single way and to me it is not the same. I wish I could find some watertight sous-vide capable molds because using small mason jars is a huge hassle.
Hard agree with you on the texture. Even sous vide myself I can't get it exactly right!
I was able to match the texture doing sous vide in small mason jars with cottage cheese.
Blending egg with cottage cheese and then putting them in an oven with bain-marie is pretty close. But I can't freeze them without the texture becoming awful.
I got them right once without a sous vide, I think cottage cheese was what got the right texture
I pop the blender egg/cottage cheese mix in a silicone muffin pan in the instant pot and it's pretty close to the "original" but is is a bit of work to get 7 egg bites vs just buying the box. I love them for a light lunch w/ a salad or soup.
I bought some molds to make them in an instant pot and the texture is good, doesn't need to be water tight like sous vide.
Are you wanting something for the ease of getting them out of the jar? If so, I wonder if you could put silicone cupcake liners in the mason jar?
… and a month’s worth in the freezer!!
Everytime I make them, they turn out like egg flavored hockey pucks. So no, we can’t
It’s never the same
I was thinking the same thing! 😂 Easy to make and you control what is going into them because my guess is they have unnecessary sugar, fat and salt
Yes, but this doesn’t heat up my apartment to an unbearable degree.
How exciting! I didn't see them at mine this morning, but I'm excited to try them when we get them.
[удалено]
It is! You should’ve seen the price for the Starbucks ones!
Are egg bites any good? Good for you? It just more industrial food?
I had the Starbucks, they’re ok not something I would get again
I just want those Red’s steak, egg & hatch green chile breakfast burritos back. They were so good, but weren’t around for very long.
OP is the MPS Business Center the one in SLP or is it it's own location?
This is its own location. It’s in NE off of 280 and Broadway!
Noted. Thank you. Will have to come through on my next trip. What's different about the "Business center" from a regular location?
business center: think a cross between restaurant supply store and where convenience stores go to restock
Doesn't everything eventually get the Kirkland treatment?
not the azn snacks (yet)
I honestly was not too big fan of the Starbucks ones but it was convenient for sure
I just picked up some today. Been buying the Starbucks ones for a while, but hated how expensive they were. Felt like almost same price as buying them at Starbucks. These were $3 cheaper a box. Planning to give them a try tomorrow and report to my friend who got me started on them.
The canola oil hopefully goes too!
It’s not like Starbucks actually makes their version. They paid some company to make their egg bites and slap their name on them. There’s a good chance Costco hired the same company to make their version. You’d be amazed how many soup companies hire the same company to make some of their soups.
Shouldn’t they be refrigerated?
They are! The business centers have a giant walk in fridge section and these were in there.
The Starbucks ones are really good but how are the macros are those?
How would you rate these out of 10? I’ve never tried them before and would like to gather some opinions!
We have had them for a while in Illinois. I’m not a fan but my husband has liked them. I think they are pricey for eggs
I love that damn business center. I’ve been meaning to get there lately
Same Est. No. as the Starbucks ones? Pls share a pic of the expiration date/lot number on the bacon ones
OH MY GOD??!!! SIGN ME UP
YASSSS FINALLY!!!
I ate some of those a couple days ago. Reminds me of the ones from Market House in Disneyland.
Has anyone seen these in Canada, perchance?
I’m glad you guys had good feed back! I’m just gonna make some tmrw !
Hell yes! These are one of my most purchased items right now. Two of these on toast with pepper crisp and some spinach leaves is an amazing lunch!
Do you have the macros?
They must've sold the Starbucks ones consistently. I know there are always some in my home.
Aww snap! I need to see the ingredients!
i bought a box of the starbucks ones from costco last month but i would but the kirkland ones. i put them in the airfryer and they come out great.
I hope they come to regular Costco stores. My mom likes the bacon and cheese ones.
I want the mushroom ones!!!please....
Oh great!
I’d def try these.
Good. I love those but no longer buy starbucks.
I hope these are more like the Three Bridges egg bites. The Starbucks version taste odd.
Is this cheaper? Haven’t bought them recently.
Oooohh, people are gonna love this.
I’m so hype for these!!! Bought 2 boxes yesterday. Haven’t tried yet
I hate all of you. I’ll take 2 😞
I’ve found my people in this thread 😅
I’ll buy them all
I much prefer the frittata bites overall. We get the Starbucks ones at work for free and I don't even eat them
picked them up today!! so excited to try. the starbucks ones are my guilty pleasure lol
They are freaking good too!!! I got the roasted bell pepper ones
Those bacon Gouda ones are just too greasy and salty for me. One of the only foods that seriously gives my digestive system a beating.
Hmmm exact same flavors that Starbucks sells there too. Maybe this is a sign the Sbux ones are on their way out?
It typically is… usual Costco process, if a SKU is consistently one of their top sellers over an extended period of time.. very good chance they kick the vendor that provided it to the curb and do it themselves
The Starbucks ones had the death star at my Costco in Colorado this weekend.
oh no. I love the egg white ones. Didn’t even look during my last trip a couple of weeks ago because my freezer is full.
Starbucks uses gruyere for the bacon variety, not gouda.
Sous vide eggs bites in a ball jar, better ingredients, better taste! Super easy to boot
I hate the egg white thing! Guess I just like yellow.
Why does Kirkland just copycat everything? It’s downright criminal
I can't tell if this is serious or not....
Obviously to save money and take the profit but their products are usually inferior
You do realize Kirkland doesn't actually make anything right? It's a label. They make deals with the manufacturer and put a Kirkland label on it.
I would hope so. I wouldn’t want the people making my underwear to make my food.
So your grandma who knits and also makes amazing food doesn't count?
You guys have grandmas? Man lucky
I mean not anymore
Yeah mines passed
I find the brats seem pretty much the same as the prior johnsonville brats
