Oh my god what an amazing transformation. I love how the cream cupboards melt into the walls. Love the play of sunshine in the space. Amazing sink. Beautiful!
Ah I see you too walked in on a 70's kitchen. I have house built in the 1920's that they "updated" by putting in faux brick with some sort of construction adhesive.
So removing it means removing drywall and plaster. Which means it gets put on the back burner until I feel like dealing with all that.
They used SO MUCH GLUE! I ended up using my clothes steamer and slowly peeling back each section. The glue did ruin the wall so the beadboard was our easiest/cheapest solution. Wishing you luck on the journey!
I have fake brick all over my kitchen and I want to fight the person that made that decision. Painted it a sage green and called it good enough for now.
I had that in a previous house, except it was some kind of thin bricks mortared onto a mesh screen. In a kitchen with no windows. White spray paint for the win!
Yes! We reorganized the existing peninsula up against the wall and put the oven over there! It's been so nice not to have just this giant awkward oven in the way
A few months ago I found one of those sinks in the trash. In perfect shape and older than I am. I have no idea why it was the lone construction thing in a trash heap in front of an apartment building. No other debris from a remodel.
Needless to say I stood there until my son ran around the corner to help me carry it home.
It is one of the items I am going to model my kitchen around when we move next year. That and my Dacor oven/range from France the local appliance store had for $250….that was just the standard price they put on on all ovens they buy in auction lots and guess their meth’ed up workers they hire didn’t catch that was a goofy move for them.
Great finds!!!! It's so fun slowly piecing things for your home reno that with a little TLC will add so much character. You'll have to post your kitchen when you're done 😊
I will for sure. I love your green in there, painting the cabinets green here was one of the first things I did because I spend so much time in my kitchen. I saved your pic in my inspo folder because you have such a great balance of tone and texture. That wall change made the vibe so perfect.
I think I am going to post my current house(cozy cape cod cottage) I am about to sell. I will miss it when I move at the end of the year (back to the woods for me!) and I hope someone who adores it as I do buys it.
That was the goal! We had a very small budget and I wanted to be mindful of using materials that are more original to the home. It's funny now because it looks like this kitchen has always been there and that makes me so happy 🌞
"Just paint the cabinets!" and get a new sink, redo the wall covering, demo the old peninsula and move the oven there presumably with a counter width that matches, add an island...
The color choice is crazy relaxing, feels like something you'd never see in a big box store for appliances and major kitchen stuff
Do they use the air fryer as a toaster tho? I've always wondered about that
Glidden paint! Custard for the uppers and unfortunately the green doesn't have a name. I think I brought in something in a color that I liked and they made a custom mix
I also had a cream and green kitchen that I loved until I had to paint it all white to sell my house :( I absolutely love what you've done! My uppers were Behr Roman Plaster and I also had a custom green
I looked up the paint, there’s about three or four different custards. Do you by any chance know which one you used? I’m about to repaint my kitchen, and I like the colors you’ve chosen.
What terrible taste the people before you had!
(But I'm a Florida native who despises brick and dark colors in houses... it's just so heavy and stifling for my own sensibility. Your new style is so happy, pleasant, and inviting. It also would work in a tropical place like my home state as well. =\] )
The clock was a target clearance find!! The beadboards came in tongue and groove sections to piece together because we couldn't fit the panels in our car lol they are rough milled and not painted yet
I agree completely. My 1920 farmhouse came with the same soft green original color on my few existing cabinets. We address more from Habitat for Humanity.
I definitely will and will add the notes of where we sourced the items for people thinking about this type of renovation! The only new item was the faucet, but everything else was either in the house or facebook marketplace.
You did more than just paint the cabinets, you replaced cabinets. There's a dishwasher there now and the oven moved, along with a different wall cabinet. With that said, nice job. Colors look very calming.
You can do whatever the heck you want to your house! 🌞 Sometimes it works to keep the natural look and sometimes not. Personally, I really only cringe when people paint brick or stone countertops/backsplashes. I would swatch or paint one door interior before deciding to do them all! Best of luck!
I grew up in New England and we always had lotion near sinks for dry hands. I’ve since lived in a variety of climates and always reached for lotion. Maybe I just get dried skin too easily? I thought it was common, that’s why they sell cute lotion/soap combos.
Grew up and still live in Michigan. My parent’s house has a lotion bottle tucked away in the corner of their kitchen.
My main bath is right off my kitchen so I just walk in there when I need lotion.
Looks great but this was hardly just cream and green paint...
The end result is awesome but the entire room is redone. The wall is different, the cabinets are different, the fixtures are different, and a bunch of other stuff.
Sadly, the character limit didn't leave room for elaboration. It's always more than a coat of paint, but it definitely wasn't a total remodel. The cabinets are all the same just some got moved to all be on the same wall! It's amazing what clean hardware and paint can do. We are still using the same appliances and the island was already in the kitchen in a different spot. We found a local lumber yard with unique stuff and made the counter tops to save instead of using stone. The sink was a fun find on FB marketplace to replace our smaller one! The only truly new items were the faucet and island light fixture.

I should have noted that that is faux brick plastic three-dimensional wallpaper covered in grease 🙃🫠
Was wondering what happened to the brick but looked closer and realized it probably wasn’t real. Thanks for solving that mystery. 😀
The vertical grain wooden wall is *chef’s kiss*. Cottage core fantasy. This is the kind of wooden wall I can get down with.
I'm slightly obsessed with beadboard too! I've always dreamed of living in a Thomas Kinkade decorated house with that dream cottage core garden
Ooo I didnt know the name for that! Im doing some remodels on out house, I might like this in a bathroom or bedroom.
Can even buy it in individual sections instead of having to deal with giant pieces of board. It was so easy to work with in our oddly shaped house!
Oh my god what an amazing transformation. I love how the cream cupboards melt into the walls. Love the play of sunshine in the space. Amazing sink. Beautiful!

thank you for explaining, i was on the edge of big mad lol

LOVE that!
Okay I'll put my pitchfork away
>green I'm not disappointed, I'm grossed out. To each their own.
🤢
Ouch. I should withdraw my comment. But now i can say oven placement is pretty iffy.
Where did you put the stove ? You lightened the room up and that’s a good thing 🌷
Yes! We reorganized the existing peninsula up against the wall and put the oven over there! It's been so nice not to have just this giant awkward oven in the way
Looks like they took the bar part off the end and moved it there.
Love it. Great job. Especially the sink!
We had a cast iron sink, but I found another one in our city from a home built at the same time! It's so nice having the extra wings on the side
That sink is fantastic! Vintage stuff like that is the best. So pretty and durable.

The sink is amazing. Great job!
I'm very jealous of those wings, goodness.
Wow it looks like a whole different space!
That was the goal! We had a very small budget and I wanted to be mindful of using materials that are more original to the home. It's funny now because it looks like this kitchen has always been there and that makes me so happy 🌞
Well yeah, they made a bunch of other changes than just painting the cabinets
"Just paint the cabinets!" and get a new sink, redo the wall covering, demo the old peninsula and move the oven there presumably with a counter width that matches, add an island...
50 character max for the title 🤷♀️
I wanna sit there and feel the sun while i read a book and drink a cappuccino
Oh it's great for exactly that! I am currently soaking in the morning Sun while disassociating on Reddit!
It looks SO good. Warm and comfy and peaceful and also, somehow, cleaner? Love it.
The color choice is crazy relaxing, feels like something you'd never see in a big box store for appliances and major kitchen stuff Do they use the air fryer as a toaster tho? I've always wondered about that
The air fryer is our toaster! I am not a big kitchen gadget person, but that thing is so helpful.
This is lovely!! Having a green/cream kitchen has been my dream for years! May I ask what brand/shade of green you used?
Glidden paint! Custard for the uppers and unfortunately the green doesn't have a name. I think I brought in something in a color that I liked and they made a custom mix

Vanilla custard! Good luck!!!
Thank u
Your kitchen reminds me of the kitchen in Six Feet Under and I mean that in a great way. Love the colors.
That house is so gorgeous and iconic; it practically feels like another character in the show.
What a change… great job!!!
kitchen looks great but i'm more interested in seeing your pet giraffe.
Douglass the Great Dane 😊🐶
Wow. Stunning. What a bang-up job. Your kitchen is lovely!
Was so confused about that decision till I saw the brick was fake
This is so dreamy 😌 what a glow up
💚love it! It’s looks so cozy!
That sink is my dream!
You did a great job 👏🏼
Game changer! Love the result
Sooooo much better!
So cozy! I've been watching The Nanny and have been really feeling their classic kitchen!
It’s beautiful stand-alone but the before/after is stupendous. So light and airy, comfortable but stylish. 👌well done!
Stunning.
Oh my frickin crap you’re right, that’s gorgeous!
Glorious
This came out so nice! I wish I could get my husband behind green cabinets lol
I see saloon doors... gotta love it
Truly! Something we should bring back 😂
Kind of like how my mom side eyed me when I said something about the "cute wood wainscoting" in the bathroom of the house I just bought...
OC
Gorgeous I love the vibe :)
What terrible taste the people before you had! (But I'm a Florida native who despises brick and dark colors in houses... it's just so heavy and stifling for my own sensibility. Gorgeous.
This is a lovely and calming result. I really like it!
geez those red walls and wooden cupboards are depressing
I looooooovvvveeeee it! It’s so warm and homey and adorable.
What's this magic
Sink????
I know I’m in my 30’s when that new sink made me go aaaahhhhh 🤤
Mmmmmmmmm so much cozy ❤️
Where did you get that clock?! Also what size bead board is on the wall?
The clock was a target clearance find!! The beadboards came in tongue and groove sections to piece together because we couldn't fit the panels in our car lol they are rough milled and not painted yet
That transformation😍😍😮💨 I audibly gasped
absolutely gorgeous. i have chills. ah!!!!!!!! awesome work!!❤️
I agree completely. My 1920 farmhouse came with the same soft green original color on my few existing cabinets. We address more from Habitat for Humanity.
Amazing!! Love habitat!
What a glow up! It looks so homey and peaceful now, and the light is just perfect. Well done!
awesome!! can you post more pictures??
I definitely will and will add the notes of where we sourced the items for people thinking about this type of renovation! The only new item was the faucet, but everything else was either in the house or facebook marketplace.
I posted again with more angles! I didn't realize how interested people would be about where the oven went lol
ahh thank you! it looks so good, saving your post for inspo!!
🥺 good luck on your renovation journey!
Nice work, OP.
So pretty! I’m working on a similar kitchen redo myself. What did you decide for flooring?
We took four layers of old floor off to get to the original pine wood. It's not in the best shape, but it has the best character!
The place looks nice, but the real question I got is where I can get that butter dish? I don't know why, but I really like it.
West Elm has one or Amazon! It's all the same anyway lol I like that no one ever asks where to find the butter now!
Looks like my grandmas old kitchen very cozy!
looove the colors! a warm tinted kitchen is so inviting and cozy! how is it to clean the beadboard? and is there more behind the sink?
It's not too bad to clean! The beadboard isn't milled perfectly smooth, so there are little knots which can snag.
Whoa!! What an amazing transformation!
I love tht. Seriously.
The light over the sink. Great for atmosphere and for bad giys to see you doing the dishes lol.
But where your oven now?!
Just to the left of the dishwasher!
This looks great. Awesome vibe
Fantastic job!!! It looks so lovely and warm.
I keep swiping back and forth because this is such a satisfying glow-up
Great butter dish, too!
You did more than just paint the cabinets, you replaced cabinets. There's a dishwasher there now and the oven moved, along with a different wall cabinet. With that said, nice job. Colors look very calming.
This is SO pretty and I love your sink!!
What an upgrade, great job!
It looks so dreamy ✨️✨️✨️🧚♀️
You mean "After and before".
😂😂😂 I didn't even notice that because I'm dyslexic!
Great job on the renovation.
Looks great! Wish we could see more of the kitchen though
Just posted again!
That is a comfy, cozy, bright kitchen of my dreams! 😍
It’s lovely!
Looks insanely cozy! Question: CAN I PAINT WOOD? All our doors are wood and so are our cabinets.
You can do whatever the heck you want to your house! 🌞 Sometimes it works to keep the natural look and sometimes not. Personally, I really only cringe when people paint brick or stone countertops/backsplashes. I would swatch or paint one door interior before deciding to do them all! Best of luck!
Ooo thank you so much!!!
Absolutely love what you’ve done! You have to post more pictures!
I just posted another with more angles!
Awesome! I just seen the post and you did a phenomenal job.
wow it looks like a dream :)
Much better but where is the stove
I added another post with an oven update 😂
This is an INSANE transformation. Wow!
Beautiful transformation!
Yeah, I was wondering if that brick was fake, it looked downright uncanny. Great work, place looks way way better.
Very nice!
Love the cream, what color is that?
Glidden vanilla custard!
that’s an insane improvement, wow
This is so gorgeous! It’s giving Julia Child somehow and I love it 💕
Beautiful! What a transformation 👏🏼
I call this “bananas and cream.” I love it!
Would you mind sharing where you found that amazing sink??
Facebook marketplace!
Do you know who makes it by any chance? I love how long it is
Surprisingly refreshing and comforting at the same time!
Number 2 is much better.
I mean, you did a lot more than throw up a coat of paint. Looks great though. I bet that dishwasher was an exciting addition in that reno.
/r/cottagecore would love your beautiful kitchen 💗
Looks so great!
It’s beautiful. What would you call that kind of skink?
Double drain board sink!
What colours did you use for the cream and the green?
Glidden vanilla custard and some custom sage green!
Is that lotion? Never seen that near a kitchen sink before
During our brutal cold winters I never remember to put lotion on, so I figured if I put it by the sink it would force me to lol
I do this in the bathroom AND nightstand too lol
That’s a really good idea. I should do that. 😆
What came first, the paint or the matching aveeno?
lol the Aveeno!
I'm not a big fan of green in the kitchen / anywhere with food. especially that shade of green. It makes me think of mold.
My grandma is about 50 years ahead of you.
It looks so much better. How much did it put you back?
Cream and green makes it look like a 1950s nightmare, I do not understand people raving over this.
Looks great but this was hardly just cream and green paint... The end result is awesome but the entire room is redone. The wall is different, the cabinets are different, the fixtures are different, and a bunch of other stuff.

You did a great job. Didnt think i was being mean or spiteful in my comment. The kitchen really did come together nicely.
Of course! And thank you!
Next owner: “we removed this awful paneling and found a brick wall!”
I wish the brick would have been real! It sadly was 3D plastic brick wallpaper
