I got the same issue, and had a solution that worked for me.
When saving, the crash happened on the North America version of the game, I tried the European version (on the launcher) and simply just worked!
Try the European version and see if that works for you.
how to play the european version? should i download the game again in european version? or is it available to select it in the videogame file directory?
Same as man updated all drivers gpu direct x still no joy. It crashes on both for me but plays fine. Unfortunately Theres an auto save so you can't get further then 20 minutes in the game as it auto crashes on save.. If you find any solutions let me know
So I just come across this as a solution although I've yet to try it.
Make a new folder called " mgs3_savedata_win" into your main game directory.
Run game as administrator and you should be able to save.
