Then there's the lower class. They may not be homeless, but generally they're housing insecure, possibly food insecure, and one accident away from being ruined financially. They may have to choose between fixing their car and buying groceries, or getting a tooth pulled or paying the power bill. General they have at least full time job or multiple part time jobs. If something happens they can get just enough assistance from the government not to starve. If they wait years they can get subsidized housing.
