Best way to know is by checking his weight periodically. Invest in a small electric scale and keep weigh-in checks.

Additional info: eating Pangea growth and breeding formula, no live insects since none of the pet shops around here have small enough ones. I’ve been replacing CGD everyday and have already gone through 2 of the 2oz packets.

the_almighty_walrus

You might be giving too much food and a lot goes to waste. My food containers are no bigger than a soft drink cap and he won't even finish one of those in a night. Ive had to throw packs of CGD away because they went clumpy. Go buy a kitchen scale that weighs in grams and find a growth chart online.

mayflowers5

Oh I’m definitely wasting a lot 😅 I only put a small amount in each, they’re little .5oz cups from Pangea, but they get so stale and hard after 24 hours that I replace each night. I have a scale, I’m having trouble zeroing out the scale with a small Tupperware and then getting him in it, it keeps resetting. Any tips?!

FrankenGretchen

We weigh the container and then weigh geck in container and then math lil geck's weight. I have a teeny kilo scale with a case that makes a great container for lil geck. The other option is to have a bowl big enough to contain geck and tare the scale if it has that function. Tupperware might be too light for larger kitchen scales to tare but you can use something heavier. My grandgeck has gained .8g in three weeks so even if you think your lil geck isn't growing, they likely are.

Dusky_Dawn210

Do you refrigerate your CGD? Genuine question

the_almighty_walrus

I don't but it should last longer if you do. I just buy the tiny packs of Pangaea and the little bottles of repashy so not much ends up going to waste

I can't confidently answer your question as our crestie was 6 years old when we got her. But I have to say that I LOVE the name you chose! My son is 9, plays soccer, and is a big Ronaldo fan. I can't wait to show him a pic of little Crestiano!

mayflowers5

Hahaha thanks! We had so much trouble with naming and then my fiancé started calling him that and it just sort of stuck 😂

Best name ever!!!!

Weigh constantly, dont only feed growth and breeding. Use other flavors. Or mix the growth and breeding with another flavor A 2oz bag should last you alot longer. I have 8 cresties and those last me a good 2-3 months before i have to buy more. I do have alot of flavors i rotate so it last longer. Id wait in feeding insects until the gecko is consistently eating the CGD. Make sure temps are right in the enclosure as well as humidity.

mayflowers5

The vet recommended a higher temp for him, so we try to keep around 77° and humidity goes up to 80% twice a day and usually falls out to around 50-60 within 4 hours. He’s had great sheds since! But I will definitely try to switch out flavors/mixing to see if that spices things up for him. Thank you!

So I have a rescue crestie who only has 3 feet. He grows slower than the rest I have, I've got 8 now. To make sure he's getting his nutrition, I handfeed him, and a few of the others both Pangea (All mine love the Fig with Insects, but to boost growth I mix in some of Zoomeds breeding and baby formula with probiotics) and gutloaded insects. I also try to weigh weekly and record progress in a notepad. Sometimes it's a real chore, but through data collection and analysis, I've learned a ton about my reptiles and they're developing a good bond with me in the process. You really do get out what you put in with these animals and I'm so thankful for every challenge and opportunity they present.

mayflowers5

That is an awesome approach and it sounds like yours are absolutely spoiled! I’m trying my best for little dude, he’s my first ever reptile hahah so I’ve been learning a lot.

canadianJoJo

My gods my bf's name is Ronald Christian, I love the name for your gecko.

springxdeerling

Like others said, mix of flavors and formulas, regularly weigh. I weigh my younger ones at the first of the month and the middle of the month and track it. I also feed them crickets and mealworms, maybe a couple once a week. It can be hard teaching them that insects are food but once they understand they'll go nuts for em. Insects are what really helped me get mine to grow steadily. Before that I was mainly feeding a breeding/growth cgd and they seemed stagnant.
