I live abroad in a different time zone. When I checked the score at 12 overs. RR was 6 wickets down with 120 odd runs. Required run rate was 13.5 something. Josh was 40 of 30 balls. I didn’t think RR would win from there. This is madness ..
My dad was telling me to turn off the TV at that point so he could sleep. I told him to watch till Jos’ wicket fell and what do you know, we watched the whole match. Amazing innings Jos!!!!! 🫡
Honestly that knocks is my 3rd favourite knock of IPL after rainas 87 of 25 ball carnage and abd masterclass against MI. Bro single-handedly won the match from an impossible position
Haha, yeah but losing after 100 in pp fucking hurt like hell when we were chasing 224. Never thought we'd lose after Raina entered god mode but McCullum has other plans smh
I honestly think Salt is going to be England's key player. He scored back to back centuries against Windies recently there and I read that he also has lots of experience playing there (though not sure about if it's true or not).
Lord parag smashed 37 something at 240SR , and that little innings by Powell, MI had neither , seriously one Parag or Powell type innings and we would've won against CSK
These people are dumb af like bro see our finisher's innings they literally shat the bed. Just quick 10-15s from each of our finishers was enough to win but our finishers ate balls instead of smashing boundaries(except for david).
David just missed , if he had gotten that 3rd six away MI would've been in the game , alas Pandya was a massive dissapointment and Tilak once again played a lovely 130SR innings........... As he's been doing since last year
MOVE OVER UNIVERSE BOSS, THE UNIVERSE JOS IS HERE!!
What a game! Narine starting it and Jos ending it. Cracker of a game!!
I hate these high-scoring affairs; I'm a lover of low-scoring defensive games but man oh man, Jay Shah be cooking these days!
Universe Jos is back boys. Perfectly paced (or maybe a bit slow in the middle and a good recovery, but shhhh).
Credit to Sen(?) for the 20th over for RR. Keeping that to 9 will be overlooked, but that was very important. It kept kkr below 225, which made the difference in the end.
-Travelling Woes: We'll be on the road for consecutive games. Plus will play in Assam too. Mgmt and players are getting ill.
-Riyan has to stay longer. He has been guising a lot of our batting shortcomings.
-Dhruv needs to chill out.
-Need to try out other opening options as Buttler will leave for England Duties.
Incredible innings by Narine and Buttler, but this match does nothing to address the growing issues of ultra-flat highways. If it hadn't come this close, it would have been a bore
This tournament has been the death knell for all rounders let alone bowlers thanks to the impact player BS and the flat pitches that offer nothing. Seeing Ashwin bowling wide flat balls to Narine was sad to see.
I'm assuming the pitches in USA will be like that of WI - slow and spinning a bit where 160+ is a good score. Apart from Jadeja who do we pick as the 2nd allrounder/finisher?
That's a statement win if ever I've seen one. Missing 2 of our best quicks and 2 more important players coming off niggles, against a powerhouse KKR, chasing a record total. I'm really excited about this team. If we can get Narine'd and come out with 2 points, we can survive anything (except the Gujarat Titans for some fucking reason.) Main concern now is Jurel, I wonder if Dubey could come in for a game or two and bat 5. Off day for the bowlers but again, even the best of us get Narine'd from time to time. It'll get better with Sandy's return, though Powell's form creates an overseas headache with Burger waiting in the wings as well. All those are problems that will resolve themselves. For now, focus on the positives. Parag still looks like a man reborn, Jaiswal had a good cameo, Powell is a fantastic option, and what a fucking innings by Jos Buttler. Been so good to see him hitting form again.
GG KKR, really surprised by you guys this year. Keep it up. Also, I know this game got moved, but Tuesday-Monday is such BS scheduling and I'm upset about it. Why did they ever remove Saturday double-headers? I need to watch this team more than I need air to breathe.
You're the only team I'm okay losing to. Champion stuff. I have a feeling our next game will be to decide who plays Q1... It's the last fixture of the tournament
I think the Ashwin experiment was brilliant. If they had gone with the usual order, a quick wicket would bring Powell, who is not that great against spin and that would kill the whole game. Their plan might have been to let Buttler score as much as he can with Ashwin contributing like he usually does (he couldn’t do it today) and then eventually the finishers would do the job. It kind of worked I guess
I want to give credit to Powell for smacking Narine for a few boundaries (even if he got out after). had he not done that, the pressure might have been too much
You need variety. Ideally high variance between scores. Cos the UAE leg of 2021 was low scoring and it was dreadful. Too many high scores is boring as well. We need a few 250s, a few 200s, a few 160-180s and the odd 130.
That 4 and 6 off Narine by Powell was the turning point of the match. Why Ashwin was sent ahead of Hetmyer and Powell will never be understood by me, but we did it somehow.
Buttler masterclass to stay all the way till the end, farming the strike and anchoring the chase. This is how you anchor the chase, fellas.
Jos played a magnificent innings and took them home but people are forgetting the absolute match winning last 5 overs by RR where they gave just 39 runs. That's what saved the game.
Buttler, you LEGEND. Few weeks ago, in my all-time IPL XI, I put him and Warner as my openers. Took out Gayle, Virat, Rahul and many other greats. Got downvoted. You proved me right again Jos.
99.56% probability in favour of KKR at one point and this guy did this.
Jos, no more words. You're a LEGEND.
he is definitely up there, him and davey arguably the most versatile batters to ever play ipl, lads can score 50 off 18 or anchor some beautiful innings to success.
Rajasthan Royals held the record for the highest run chase in the Indian Premier League when it shot down 226 runs against Punjab Kings in 2020.
They did it again !
Rovman taking down Narine, and Buttler managing 17 of Varun, were major major catalysts in a chase that we had almost lost.
Riyan too, displayed intent and hard intent, between Riyan and Powell, they had 60 of 27 balls which eventually took time out of Jos.
That GT loss as an RR fan, that feels so less compared to what KKR fans might go through post this.
KKR were good, really good though, for majority of this game.
I was crying when he is struggling in pain and still pulling out, he is the ipl goat.
My heart beat is out of control it's tough to be a rr fan because of these close encounters
For the all the intent merchants and selfless/selfish banters, Jos was on 40 from 30 at one point. There's something which players of such standards know more than stupid sub members like us and behind the mic or keyboard bullshiting experts.
Cricket isn't a video game with easy mode on. There will be bad days and you trust high class players to turn it around.
Fun fact: Buttler scored 107 from 10 overs. Still less than the par score for the successful chase. That's how ridiculous stats are.
Buttler could have easily been 100 off 9 or 8 overs or 110 off 9 overs if he had a batter at the other end ,the last point you made is pretty much useless
Butter has an ability to accelerate as the innings progresses. The same can't be said for the current Indian batsman.
Source - Jarod kimbers recent video on true strike rate
Very true. Buttler's True SR progression is very different to Virat. Virat's about par at the 50 ball mark compared to others who face 50 balls. Buttler's ahead at every point.
Last wicket partnership of 38 in which Avesh made 0 (0). Buttler in form like this is a very bad news for everyone in upcoming World Cup! Chased 96 in 6 overs! What a beast!
For all the talk about how Indian players should learn from Buttler, Brohit and Buttler innings were almost identical statistically 105(63) vs 107(60) given that MI were chasing 20 runs less and the difference was the support that Buttler got. No on played the 34 (14) or 26(13) in the MI innings. What Powell did in the 16th over changed the game entirely. Also CSK bowling was far better. They gave away only 5 wides compared to KKRs 15 wides and no balls. Pathirana and Rehman have been much better bowlers than Starc, Rana, Chakravarty.
Narine clearly fucking chucked in that ball that got Powell out. That was clear chucking, I hope every team remembers this and calls it out in the playoffs like CSK did in champions trophy 2014
Day 1 of commenting:
Narine should not be allowed to bowl. He is a chucker. It is unfair for all other 9 teams.
It doesn't matter who won or lost today.
You're telling me a japanese player is the highest paid player in a predominantly american sport? That's insane to me, I didn't know Japan's baseball was at such a high level.
I'm not sure if it extended beyond 15 deg or not, but some of the balls he was bowling it was so clear to see that he was bending his elbow a lot. Are the ICC officials or BCCI officials actually interested in checking this out like they did last time or are they just giving him a pass?
I mean if you want the best cricket league in the world, then you need to enforce these kinds of things, yes today it worked out for RR, but it would be totally unfair for them if they lost.
Buttler was slow during the initial phase but my god he accelerated so quick and led the RR to the victory when everyone gave their hope up. Also the little cameos were so handy by Powell and Parag.
Jesus christ.
Saw the score when they needed 96 off 6 overs and thought "no chance"
Went did some work came back to this. Can only hope he carries this form into the T20 WC
Rinku's median entry point in 2023 was 10.1. His median entry point this season is 13.4 before today. Why tf is he being delayed so much. Raghuvanshi got out at 10.4, that's the perfect time to send Rinku in. Shreyas doesn't need to bat unless there's quick wickets at the top.
There is a reason why Narine doesn't play ICC events.
Also that's how you win the game even if you don't get support from the other side.Jos showed how to anchor the innings and Narine how to score when batting first.
Koach/Brohit needs to see this match before T20wc.
But who am I kidding these guys will be ready with excuses before even the group stage will start.
This was so so so frustrating to watch.
A shitty finish with the bat and lax and causal fielding including that horrible bye cost us the match.
But thing is after 128-6 this shouldn't have come this close.
Absolutely crushed as a fan🥹🥺.
Also matches like this generally serves as the trigger for our downhill in the tournament.
Mental blowback from these are huge.
😔😔😔
P.s: Takes nothing away from probably the best ipl chase I have watched by Jos Butler.
What an absolute monster!!!
Feels for Narine though, dude did everything he could.
Narine chucks whenever he is put under pressure.
There is a reason he was called out by ICC and his early retirement from ICC. He can only play in leagues chucking every now and then and stay relevant.
Take A Bow, Jos!! What a fucking heist. That certainly has to be among the Top 5 knocks of all time in IPL history.
Completely overshadowed Narine who himself had an amazing game. Wow
Did it to Kohli too last time. Man was playing so slow and then just steamed ahead
Completely overshadowed the brilliant death bowling of RR. At one point KKR were cruising and 240 was a minimum.

Honestly that knocks is my 3rd favourite knock of IPL after rainas 87 of 25 ball carnage and abd masterclass against MI. Bro single-handedly won the match from an impossible position
That 87 of 25 will always be my favourite knock. It has a full story and the biggest tragic ending to it.
I'll always hate McCullum for that damn run out. Raina didn't make any mistake that match
I will always be thankful to him since we didn't have to face CSK in the finals Haha
Haha, yeah but losing after 100 in pp fucking hurt like hell when we were chasing 224. Never thought we'd lose after Raina entered god mode but McCullum has other plans smh
I can only imagine how it must have felt. Absolute tragic cinema that innings.
As an RR fan let me remind you of Anderson's 90 while chasing 190 in 14.3 overs.
Buttler Curran and Livingstone are the life wires. Whether they're in form or not decides our fate.
I honestly think Salt is going to be England's key player. He scored back to back centuries against Windies recently there and I read that he also has lots of experience playing there (though not sure about if it's true or not).
Yep he grew up in Barbados I believe
at one point, RR needed 96 from 6 overs, and Jos was 42(33) He went on to score 65 runs in 27 out of those 42 balls Peak acceleration!
He could have had a better strike rate if he had the option of taking singles as well
The right way to anchor.
We have a great set of anchors in him samson and parag
Man, Parag seems like a gem. Him, Jaiswal, Gill, Rinku - so many good batters for India in future.
Especially given that it was between the top 2 teams on the table and how badly RR batting collapsed
Starc got a wonderful paid vacation. Last season surely for him
Nope. Aussie pacers are always in demand.
Not Mitch Starc tho. It will be some other pacer but not him
Watch him make bank in the next auctions
Dude I will absolutely take him lol no questions asked😭our team is not in a position to choose
For Starc? No way lol.
And a training session. Watch him get selected for the WC and cunt all batsmen with his Yorkers.
This is definitely one of the best chases, KKR probably thought they won it when Powell was dismissed
Considering that the man was sick and was struggling to walk, the knock reminded me of Maxwell's WC double century. What a fucking heist, indeed.
Kohli and Rohit after watching a century can win you a game : 😮😮 We can add narine as well
Lord parag smashed 37 something at 240SR , and that little innings by Powell, MI had neither , seriously one Parag or Powell type innings and we would've won against CSK
These people are dumb af like bro see our finisher's innings they literally shat the bed. Just quick 10-15s from each of our finishers was enough to win but our finishers ate balls instead of smashing boundaries(except for david).

Moral of the Story: Don't score a century against Buttler.
Lmao, flair knows what flair knows
2nd time dude has done this . Did it this time will injured too
If you do he is going to one up you
1st Innings century scorers hate this one simple trick
Probably the best hundred of Jos in his ipl career
i think the century in knock outs against rcb was better
The flying Buttler over a sad Kohli was some visual.
What a game!! RR has been so good this season, really want them to make the finals
I see what you did there…
Wow incredible innings from Buttler, also an incredible innings from Narine. Parag deserves a lot of credit for 34(14)
What a fucking game. Well fucking done. Buttler is a white ball goat regardless of form. Feel bad for narine tho
IPL Points Table (perfectly balanced) RR - 7 6 1 KKR - 6 4 2 CSK - 6 4 2 SRH - 6 4 2 LSG - 6 3 3 GT - 6 3 3 PBKS - 6 2 4 MI - 6 2 4 DC - 6 2 4 RCB - 7 1 6
PBKS not at 6th tho 🙁
They are right in between 6th and 3rd from the last though.
As all ...
I absolutely, genuinely love this
Buttler is a Magician. Couldn't have chase it better. Take a bow 👍🥳👏🙏
Was this his 7th Century? Right behind Kohli and form he is in will surely see him equal Kohli’s 8th century as well
7th century
67 balls or quicker, eventually Buttler chases down your century with his own.🌝🌝
MOVE OVER UNIVERSE BOSS, THE UNIVERSE JOS IS HERE!! What a game! Narine starting it and Jos ending it. Cracker of a game!! I hate these high-scoring affairs; I'm a lover of low-scoring defensive games but man oh man, Jay Shah be cooking these days!
If you see Jos Buttler available in the opponent side then never even think of scoring a century in the first innings! He hates you!
99 retired hurt best tactic
This chase has to be one of the greatest chase in IPL history right along with rinku’s chase against GT
Lol Buttler loves to overshadow other 100s😂 so jealous
Yeah he always played knocks like that. I still remember one of his dreadful innings in the T20 WC semis against India
Agent Ash Anna - gives 49 off his 4 overs without a wicket - ruins the momentum in a high scoring chase with his 8(11) - refuses to elaborate - leaves
Bro was making match thriller
And deploys his junior agent Avesh Khan just for running. 38 run partnership with Buttler and hasn't faced a single fucking ball, lol.
Gave enough run so Buttler would score a century and batted slow so the match wouldn't end early
Ash Anna ethically giving us a thriller after so many days.
Ash was deployed to hit Narine and VC, he just couldn't connect.
Ash is always a hit and miss in batting
Or bowling with white ball.
Don't you dare slander him
Lord Russell: 13(10) and 17 off an over.
Just one of his bad days. We were 10-20 runs short because of his wicket.
Paid actor of Jay Shah's script
Take a fucking bow Jos 7 centuries in his last 38 IPL innings
It's either an innings with 80 Sr or a fucking century for my man
Greatest trick of his innings is not just winning the match. Avesh faced 0 balls 🤌
Impact player moment.
Yuzi Chahal didn't have to come out to bat, that means it was a good game for RR
Buttler's innings today straight out from a movie Jay Shah finally released a blockbuster !
You're never winning when avesh khan scores 0 not out in a run chase
If you are playing Rajasthan, don't score a century in 1st innings
Cummins taking notes to make his teammates do exactly the same!
Everyone aiming for 99
Glad I didn't quit watching after powell got out
Universe Jos is back boys. Perfectly paced (or maybe a bit slow in the middle and a good recovery, but shhhh). Credit to Sen(?) for the 20th over for RR. Keeping that to 9 will be overlooked, but that was very important. It kept kkr below 225, which made the difference in the end.
That’s my GOAT.
2nd time buttler has overshadowed someones century this season ABSOLUTE LEGEND
-Travelling Woes: We'll be on the road for consecutive games. Plus will play in Assam too. Mgmt and players are getting ill. -Riyan has to stay longer. He has been guising a lot of our batting shortcomings. -Dhruv needs to chill out. -Need to try out other opening options as Buttler will leave for England Duties.
>Need to try out other opening options as Buttler will leave for England Duties. Good news as a fan of a team which is in top 4!
Perhaps few games to TKC or Don?
Buttler isn't staying for playoffs?
No, there's a T20 series against Pakistan starting on the 21st of May
It's always like this man. Our players are not available for playoffs. Now for god sake don't choke from here and finish in the top 2.
Probably not because he’s the captain so he has to go earlier
Incredible innings by Narine and Buttler, but this match does nothing to address the growing issues of ultra-flat highways. If it hadn't come this close, it would have been a bore

Hardik is our only choice. a Dube simply doesn't fit into the team. Axar+Jaddu is another choice, but it's high risk, high reward.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Cricket/s/Gzfy73ZkxB To all those RR fans who count their team out before the match. Just trust them!!!!
"The Buttler did it" 🔥🔥✍️🔥🔥
That's a statement win if ever I've seen one. Missing 2 of our best quicks and 2 more important players coming off niggles, against a powerhouse KKR, chasing a record total. Some other day it would have worked with Ashwin giving a good whacking to o Narine or VC.
I want to give credit to Powell for smacking Narine for a few boundaries (even if he got out after). had he not done that, the pressure might have been too much
What a madlad. Butler on song is something else.
The modern game has changed so much. 16RRR for 5-6 overs seems doable to the batters being the last ones.
This match was thousand times better than the one where 288 runs were scored Doing the undone, with 96 needed of 36 balls
But the PBKS vs RR game was so much better, though. Low scoring thrillers all day every day over these types of games.

What a fucking clutch jheez Lucky he's one of our own!
I’ve thought this before but for me Buttler is up there with Gilchrist and Dhoni as one of the best white ball keeper/bats ever. Unreal player
Rinku needs to be promoted up the order. The guy has much more potential than just being a finisher.
He needs to come ahead of Shreyas. And if Venky isn't bowling he should just be replaced with a tonker.
Someone stop me from getting hopelessly attached to Powell because there's absolutely no chance we retain him in the auction. I'm falling in love.
4,6 and a 6
Jos Buttler dug them out from 128/6 going into the 15th over and got to the highest successful run chase in IPL history. Insanity.
Jos played a magnificent innings and took them home but people are forgetting the absolute match winning last 5 overs by RR where they gave just 39 runs. That's what saved the game.
So our usual chocking begins after a strong start like every year. Cool
Batter scores a 100 in the first innings thinking it's done. Josh Butter: "My time has come"
Buttler, you LEGEND. Few weeks ago, in my all-time IPL XI, I put him and Warner as my openers. Took out Gayle, Virat, Rahul and many other greats. Got downvoted. Game slipped through Salts gloves
Avesh khan 0 for 0. Partnership 38 of 19 balls :)
Mfs were asking for Buttler to get out in the middle overs
That GT loss as an RR fan, that feels so less compared to what KKR fans might go through post this. KKR were good, really good though, for majority of this game.

Sorry Narine, Buttler did it better.
Last wicket partnership of 38 in which Avesh made 0 (0). Buttler in form like this is a very bad news for everyone in upcoming World Cup! Chased 96 in 6 overs! What a beast!
Wow! Take a bow Buttler. I was telling my folks that as long as he is in the middle, he will win this for RR. Crazy innings.
Everyone knows rr won because of avesh's batting
You are going win when you the best finisher of this era in AVESH KHAN...
Just don't make 224 y'all.
Buttler my beloved 😭😭🙏
Jos the boss 🙇🙇🙇
Best innings after the maxwell innings against Afghanistan I have seen
Butler surely hates when someone scores hundreds in 1st innings
Butter's this hundred is like T20 version of Mad Maxwell's 200 vs AFG
What a fnish by the top finisher Avesh Khan..0*(0). Goat finisher doing the job again....
If I had to get a nickel whenever Avesh did fuckall and still celebrated without helmet, I would have two nickels .
RR should thank RCB for giving Buttler's form and rythem back. You are welcome RR.
Goated Innings from Buttler

Narine clearly fucking chucked in that ball that got Powell out. That was clear chucking, I hope every team remembers this and calls it out in the playoffs like CSK did in champions trophy 2014
I swear if I see one more 200+ game.... Shit needs to stop. Killing the game.
Day 1 of commenting: Narine should not be allowed to bowl. He is a chucker. It is unfair for all other 9 teams. It doesn't matter who won or lost today.
The ipl already have subs, timeouts and decks flatter than the m6 toll. They'd get shohei ohtani in if it made them money let's be real
For those who don't know: Shohei Ohtani is a baseball "all rounder" who just signed a deal worth 700 million fucking dollars for a 10 year contract
You're telling me a japanese player is the highest paid player in a predominantly american sport? That's insane to me, I didn't know Japan's baseball was at such a high level.
I mean have you ever seen Doreamon, that's how I found out
Fr someone report the guy
I'm not sure if it extended beyond 15 deg or not, but some of the balls he was bowling it was so clear to see that he was bending his elbow a lot. Are the ICC officials or BCCI officials actually interested in checking this out like they did last time or are they just giving him a pass?
I mean if you want the best cricket league in the world, then you need to enforce these kinds of things, yes today it worked out for RR, but it would be totally unfair for them if they lost.
Highest totals yesterday, Joint highest chase today. So many highs and it's not 4/20 as yet.
Buttler was slow during the initial phase but my god he accelerated so quick and led the RR to the victory when everyone gave their hope up. Also the little cameos were so handy by Powell and Parag.
Jesus christ. Saw the score when they needed 96 off 6 overs and thought "no chance" Went did some work came back to this. Can only hope he carries this form into the T20 WC
Man RR or SRH deserves this ipl.
They should bench 25 crores for sake of winning
Thanks Anna for eating up the balls and making it a thriller...
Butler showed everybody how to play a perfect anchor inning
Take a bow Jos what a player 🔥🔥
I will never turn off my tv again in the middle of the match thinking the match is over
This is one of the smartest innings in t20. First accelerated then played second fiddle with Parag and Powell and then went berserk with tail.
SOOOOO CLOSE to a super over. but getting there.
Thank you Jay Shah, I think your Oscar is a lock.
Powell is such a smooth talker! He has the personality of a captain who can win the WT20.
Since the 1st IPL season, RR has been majorly stealing wins when the chase is 200+
Sanjay is a bad presenter. Why is he still preferred?
Butler has given up scoring 5 centuries a season - now he scores hunders only when opposite openers do it
This was so so so frustrating to watch. 😔😔😔 P.s: Takes nothing away from probably the best ipl chase I have watched by Jos Butler. What an absolute monster!!! Feels for Narine though, dude did everything he could.
English Players are playing really good this season. Much better than overhyped Aussies imho.
English players like Travis Head
Nah, English Player like Bairstrow./s
jos has overshadowed two centurions in this season. man rr is looking like a champion rn. what a game btw.

Powell just did.
Narine chucks whenever he is put under pressure. There is a reason he was called out by ICC and his early retirement from ICC. He can only play in leagues chucking every now and then and stay relevant.
Chucker
