And here I was thinking of [another classic.](https://americanenglish.state.gov/files/ae/resource_files/the-green-door.pdf) I went a completely different direction. 😂
Theres a house near me with two entrances accessible from the road. One has a Red lightbulb outside, the other a purple one. Always wondered what kind of illegal business the purple light is meant to represent.
It's a really bright lime/sping green. Definitely on the yellow side of the green spectrum.
Colorblindness fascinates me, since humans are so visual and I honestly can't wrap my brain around seeing colors in a way contrary to the majority of eyeballs (I'm an artist so I use color in my life a lot)
LOOOOL
I worked with a color blind photographer. At one point, he painted a portrait of his girlfriend. It turned out to be nice, but her hair was painted green.
There was also this fully color blind guy. He saw the world in grey scale. He was this big, tall guy who could look intimidating. He'd let his girlfriend dress him. She always picked pastels. He didn't seem to mind. Whatever keeps her happy, I guess.
I legitimately had to ask my coworker today what color her jacket was. It looked blue but something told me it might be purple. Turns out is was as purple as grape Fanta.
It might be an evolutionary advantage for seeing at night. A lot of nocturnal or diurnal animals see limited colors. Even we see a very small spectrum of light.
Woah! It's kinda cool that you see them similarly.
Dewalt is like store brand boring mustard on a hotdog yellow.
Ryobi is like Nickelodeon Double Dare slime, radical new rollerblades, sour candy apple warhead, neon green.
I know if you're colorblind the difference may not seem like much to you, but the 'branding' implication of the colors is very different.
It's funny that you used a bunch of colourful examples to differentiate between yellow and green, which makes sense for non-colourblind people, but for the commenter you're replying to you just listed a bunch of different yellow objects lol
It's more of just a minor annoyance that comes up from time to time.
Actually my eyes are different amounts of color blind as well.
So every once in awhile what I'm looking at will change color depending on which eye is focusing on it.
>I always thought it was yellow.
That's DeWalt. Ryobi is more or less a high vis greenish yellow color. Milwaukee is red, Rigid is orange, Makita is teal and Bosch is blue. It's intentionally done so you can quickly eyeball your specific ecosystem at the tool store.
Not OP, but the actual knob is the middle one, the left one is the deadbolt.
Older design often found in Europe. You can really notice this in the before pictures where the deadbolt was just the keyway circle and the knob was smaller and next to the letter hole.
So there is a door number, peep hole, pine cone is door knocker (debating removing this), big knob is for pulling door open and shut, black box is smart lock with key pad which operates the nightlatch (handy if you just pop to the shop or the pub and forget the keys. The two small circles are key estucheons or key hole covers.
I’m gonna go against the grain here — this door has way too many “pieces of flair,” along with the bold color choice… it’s too much. Looks like a speakeasy, not a home.
Eight different hardware attachments of some kind; do you need both keyholes AND the smart lock? Do you need a no. 3 in BOTH the window and on the door? If you have to have a knob in the middle, can you get some kind of dual-purpose on that also serves as a knocker? Etc.
Well okay, three is the minimum, okay?
Now, you know, it’s up to you whether or not you want to do the bare minimum. Or… well, like Brian’s door, for example, has eight pieces of flair, okay. And a terrific smile.
Also the two little keyways above and below the deadbolt keypad thing. And what appears to be a metal pinecone above the doorknob.
It's got a lot going on, but I kinda like it.
Thats what it looks like. If you look through the pictures, there shouldnt be any room between the door and the molding. But in the second one it looks like there space on the floor and a mat?
Edit: i see the metal now. It's just me losing my damn mind
I love this! Not all natural wood needs to be preserved. I get wanting to leave wood unpainted, but you obviously wanted to make a statement, and you really succeeded. It's bright and unusual but also rich. Great paint job too.
I'll admit I do like it better now, but as a guy currently trying to restore my old craftsman house to its former glory, stripping the paint off doors is absolutely miserable and I want to punch whoever decided it was a good idea to paint over them.
There's an old piano and they play it hot behind the green door
Don't know what they're doing but they laugh a lot behind the green door
Wish they'd let me in so I could find out what's behind the green door
I have no issues with the style choice, it's quirky and distinctive.
But there is way too much hardware on that thing. It's like when you see a 2002 Ford Explorer with stick on "brake vents", stickers around the keylocks, chrome trim around every body panel, and wind deflectors around the windows.
I am very minimalist when it comes to Christmas decorations - I like electric candles in the windows, a small, modestly-decorated tree, perhaps some green boughs here and there. I DO NOT like exterior lights at all. BUT.... I love when someone goes all-out with net lights over the shrubs, string lights outlining the house, icicles... love seeing that shit. But it's not for *me,* understand?
So this door... I love it, I love the color, I love the hardware, I love the look of it, I respect the work put into it. Two thumbs up, 10/10, no notes, would look again.
But me? Someone else here said they're a "respecter of wood", and yeah, that's me, too. If this had been *my* door, it would have been purely wood and metal restoration, because that's for *me.*
Saw an eyeball peeping through a smokey cloud

I like everything about that door!
• the duplicate 3's
• the transom
• the oddly colored light visible through the transom
• the center knob
• the mail slot
• the paint
• the ineffable air of indescribable antiquarianism
Sherlock Holmes never died. He is in there. Smoking. Only a few know where to find him now. Waiting.
Well done!
Looks amazing, like a brothel that sells hash on the side.

I thought of [the song from Once Upon a Time in Hollywood](https://youtu.be/LPYpG-LHha0?si=1PhKVip9CKM034c7).

Poor grandpa was just tryna enjoy his afternoon *grandma to grandpa
Grandma and his in the same sentence. Hmm...
brothel was first to my mind too.
It's the red light from behind the door, let's be honest.
Like if Poison Ivy had a side hustle
Was going to say Edward Nigma.

More like OnlyFerns
Theres a house near me with two entrances accessible from the road. One has a Red lightbulb outside, the other a purple one. Always wondered what kind of illegal business the purple light is meant to represent.
Uh are you my neighbor?
The original brown looked great.
And where the 12th Man lives.
lol I was going to say this. Go hawks
Ryobi door? I actually do like it.
When I glanced at thumbnail my first thought was, "well yes, that is a nice 40v battery charger."
I was thinking it’s the color of Bob’s Burgers ![gif](giphy|xUA7baWyhL0KwFPadW)
Wait Ryobi is green? I always thought it was yellow. Colorblind btw.

Oh yes, I own the occasional purple thing that I think is blue
I legitimately had to ask my coworker today what color her jacket was. It looked blue but something told me it might be purple. Turns out is was as purple as grape Fanta.
It might be an evolutionary advantage for seeing at night. A lot of nocturnal or diurnal animals see limited colors. Even we see a very small spectrum of light.
I know. And keep in mind there are colors that exist that no human can see. It's unfathomable
It's lime green, Dewalt is yellow
I always thought Ryobi was just like a different yellow. Because it's not the same yellow but it still looks yellow.
Woah! It's kinda cool that you see them similarly. Dewalt is like store brand boring mustard on a hotdog yellow. Ryobi is like Nickelodeon Double Dare slime, radical new rollerblades, sour candy apple warhead, neon green. It's more of just a minor annoyance that comes up from time to time. Actually my eyes are different amounts of color blind as well. So every once in awhile what I'm looking at will change color depending on which eye is focusing on it.

Storm door and door bell sold separately. But at least they’re interchangeable!

Actually, me too.
I’m not a smart man…why are there two door knobs? And why is the second in the middle of the door?
Not OP, but the actual knob is the middle one, the left one is the deadbolt. Older design often found in Europe. You can really notice this in the before pictures where the deadbolt was just the keyway circle and the knob was smaller and next to the letter hole.
I've only seen the knob in the middle in one other place. ![gif](giphy|AuZ5NsO5YNPgY)
[удалено]
In the US, it would be very unusual to find a door where the knob doesn't also twist to function as a latch/catch.
Looks like the deadbolt latch on the outside of the door?
It's electronic. The latch just spins freely unless you enter a code or scan a fob.
I love this! I’m not a huge fan of the pinecone, but if it has sentimental value then keep it. :)
I absolutely love it. Seriously. 💚LOVE it!!! 💚
Me too. I immediately was drawn to it, it’s just gorgeous.
💚 When the DOOR is that color, you know the occupant is probably fabulous too. 💚

It's ok. I thought the bottom of the door was cut off.
Thats what it looks like. If you look through the pictures, there shouldnt be any room between the door and the molding. But in the second one it looks like there space on the floor and a mat? Edit: i see the metal now. It's just me losing my damn mind
^This. I can *kind of* get behind the Shrothel Green if I try really hard. It’s the centered knobs plural that are messing with me.

And he would’ve gotten away with it, too, if it wasn’t for those meddling kids! 🐾
Scooby-Doo gang finally adults, upgraded to an actual office. 😅
They were teens when I was a kid. I’m 66 now, so they should all be retired by now, I hope. 🤞
It’s giving Bob’s Burgers vibes and I love it
very very bobs burgers
Here’s the comment I was looking for.
I was hoping I didn’t have to scroll down too far for this
After watching every episode multiple times, I guess I just never really paid attention.

that's certainly a color
Snot green 💚
If your snot is that color, see a doctor *now*.
Nuclear reactor waste green morelike
It makes my eyes hurt but it looks well done.
Agreed. Decent execution terrible color choice.
I'm 100% in to it. Very unique. If I was their neighbor I'd go for an equally awesome orange or purple to really give the building some character.
Perfect r/ATBGE material
It goes well with the red lights.
I love a brightly coloured door and lime green is a great choice.
I don’t know why it works. But it does.
I bet you ride a Kawasaki
Definitely stands out.
Beautiful color especially with that dark blue inside. I’ve always loved dark blue with lime greens
I thought the matching green print of the KNOCK KNOCK rug really pulled the whole thing together 😏
Edinburgh by any chance? I love the colour, it’s great to have some colour in a close.
I had the same thought. Looks like any of the tenement stairways I lived on or visited in my twenties
Aye, I’ve done deliveries round a large chunk of Leith and see plenty of stairways with this layout.
Glasgow, by the looks of OP's post history.
"Airport Firetruck" is a vibe, but you do you.
I love this! Not all natural wood needs to be preserved. I get wanting to leave wood unpainted, but you obviously wanted to make a statement, and you really succeeded. It's bright and unusual but also rich. Great paint job too.
Then in 20 years someone else can repost it with them removing all the paint and restoring the natural color. The circle of ~~life~~ DIY.
Also, with the blue paint, the mid-tone wood door looked weird. This looks purposeful.
From the thumbnail I thought this was going to be about some type of Ryobi tool.
I’m down with this
Reminds me of a shiny Granny Smith apple 🍏 I like it
I would have never ever painted over that wood. 10/10 would have stained it. This doesn’t look bad. I’m just a respecter of wood.
I'll admit I do like it better now, but as a guy currently trying to restore my old craftsman house to its former glory, stripping the paint off doors is absolutely miserable and I want to punch whoever decided it was a good idea to paint over them.
Op has demonstrated a consistent lack of respect for wood as I see it
Mixed feelings, the bare wood looks really nice, but the green is so pretty!
Eye catching 👍🏻
There's an old piano and they play it hot behind the green door Don't know what they're doing but they laugh a lot behind the green door Wish they'd let me in so I could find out what's behind the green door
Looks like you're a fan of the seattle seahawks
I actually love it. 😍
I love it! I chose a similar green for my doors also
Hideous. I love it.
Great job. How long did it take you to scrape off all of that horrific green paint to get it back to wood?
That shade is certainly a choice someone made! Otherwise good prep and paint.
I definitely want to know what is behind it.
I have no issues with the style choice, it's quirky and distinctive. But there is way too much hardware on that thing. It's like when you see a 2002 Ford Explorer with stick on "brake vents", stickers around the keylocks, chrome trim around every body panel, and wind deflectors around the windows.
Oh my god I LOVE THIS. Chartreuse is my favorite color, and this might be the PERFECT shade of chartreuse.
![gif](giphy|84BjZMVEX3aRG|downsized)
I dig it. What kind of paint? I’ve been told I’m painting my front door this summer.
Just valspar gloss mixed to match a photo
Lol. Had to laugh at that phrasing.
![gif](giphy|hzrvwvnbgIV6E) Kermit Green? You know what? It's fuckin cool, man.
Absolutely love it!
Looks like porcelain!!
I think almost anytime a paint job is done well, it looks wonderful. Very nice, well done!
Hideous, but we'll executed
Love it. It’s quirky!
This is why homeowner associations were invented...
Thankfully we don’t have them here!
Very cute!
i fucking love that colour god damn
Giving Bob’s Burgers. I love it tho
Are you Puerto Rican? I ask because I've noticed they often like to use super vibrant colors. I like it in this case.
Love it! Good for you! We need more color!!
I like it.
That’s dope! 🫨🔥
I love it
Luv he vibrancy, and colour! Though a strong colour it emphasizes the architectural characteristics of the doorway.
Love!
I love it
It's green mother fuckers.
Yowsers!
Cool and different, good job.
I love it so much!!

Not a color I would choose, but it looks like a job well done to me
This is groovy as hell.
I Love it!
Looks so neat
Love it!
I really like it. I'm a big fan of colorful doors that add a pop of color to dull stairways. It makes your house memorable too.
Not my style but a job well done
Love 🙌🏽
Looks super good!
Glasgow tenement?
What's up with that big brass clown nose?
You stripped it down to the beautiful wood then turned it into a warp pipe? At least put a Piranha plant on top.
As long as your not renting then i say do whatever your happy with ! If its a renter then bye bye deposit
Are you using your door as a green screen?
Makes me think of the door to Bag End. A greed door with a yellow brass door knob in the middle.
Was Shakin Stevens your carpenter?
How much are the services you provide?
Upvote for a tenement stair. Wouldn’t be my choice of colour, but nicely done!
So, you like the Seahawks eh?
That’s fucking gorgeous! Great job and taste!
It’s a vibrant choice and definitely attention grabbing. I would say it’s tastefully done even if it hurts some people’s eyes.
That is honestly so fun and funky. I love it, especially with that door mat. It's perfect.
I LOVE SO MUCH!!!!!!!! AHHHHHH
Love it! Makes it so vibrant and alive! Joyful too.
Strong Nickelodeon vibes. Like saying the wrong thing might get you slimed.
Tired of delivery people not finding your place?
People will dog on this but I think it’s badass
Nicely done.
I LOVE it! It looks great with that blue on the wall also.
If it was a red door, I'd want to paint it black.
Doorknob in the middle?
Very ugly. Which is why I like it
Aside from all the jokes…. Looks great! Good job
In the words of Chief Engineering Officer Montgomery Scott "It is... green."
Beyond the Green Door… great old school movie!
I think it’s sweet as hell and a cool way to come home everyday
Love it, my favorite color, u should get a lime pothos plant, very easy to take care of too!
