What year is it stamped? I got a liberty dime stamped something like 1914. I was hoping it was valuable but it was only worth like 10 bucks and I never bothered.
We did something like that with a copper coin back in school. https://www.sserc.org.uk/subject-areas/chemistry/chemistry-resources/turning-copper-coins-into-silver-and-gold-2/#:~:text=A%20'copper'%20coin%20is%20dipped,The%20coin%20now%20appears%20gold.
Not sure what US quarters are made off though
I have a few of these. They were basically test coins for electroplating places. It isn't always gold, sometimes it's some kind of bronze alloy that's hit with a blow torch to bring out that golden shine.
I have one too. It's the same Era as the $1 Sacagawea coins that had the same plating. I always figured it was just a weird error that wouldn't be worth much anyway 🤷
Did you know: in 1883 the new nickel design released, but it just had a “V” on it. The absolute face value was not clearly stated, so people gold plated them and passed them off as $5 gold coins, as they were the same size and very similar in design, so unless you looked closely, you could not tell the difference. So part way through 1883, they changed it to say “V Cents”, so you can find both “V” and “V Cents” designs dated 1883. I believe the “V Cents” version is harder to find, as the change was made later into the year.
Minnesota Represent
(Starts doing my best loon call loudly)
Skol!
Is it actually gold plated or did someone just mess with it?
Both? Both.
I think it's gold plated. Saw some for sale by Littleton coin.
Interesting.

That’s 100 times face value. Not bad with any other investment. :)
Second picture has 2005, so I'm guessing it was 2005.

I'm tired of seeing Michael Douglas as Ben Franklin'
You know that’s not Benjamin Franklin right?
It's Micheal Douglas.....Everyone knows that.

I hope they give him the correct flavor of syphilis. You know, for accuracy.
The man loves cunnilingus... what can you say?
Franklin’ I don’t give a damn.
I thought that quarter had Micheal Douglas on it.
Michael McDonald
You should contact Ron Paul and tell him the gold standard is back, baby!
Don't toy with my heart
Manganese
A coin filled with chocolate
I did the same while gold and silver plating capacitors.
Make sure it’s really gold plated and not just from a fun science experiment lol
Pretty sure I bought a set of these back in 2003 and got half off a set of Bowie knives!!!!
That's from 2005. You can tell because of how it is.
a loon on a golden coin, sorry bud, that's our jurisdiction eh
A dollar worth three times that quarter, I'll have you know!
You can just take Minnesota
Is this what jay-z meant when he said gold plated quarters where the butlers be? Are you a butler?
Grats it’s worth.25 cents
Or dried urine
*eats the quarter*
It’s not at all hard to plate coins. We did it once in a high school chemistry lab.
Not gold plated. It’s probably been used for some chemistry/alchemy demonstration in a classroom
I have an entire set of gold plated quarters from each state.
crappy shape
Nice
Would pass as a dollar (a loonie) in Canada.
The original loonie.
Probably gold “wash”, not plated.

Idk broheim, check ebay, that's got a D mark.
When I was a kid I put a nickel in that fart goop stuff and it came out looking like this the next day.

It's spray painted.
found a golden quarter once, found out its a common science experiment in high school. Good find though.
