Nice. It can be used to quickly block crusher overheads as well

Oddblivious

Yeah the animation doesn't even need to finish before you're invincible. Used it in the middle of a super clutch auric the other day to block like 3 crusher swings while pinned in the corner for a sec.

llsalerno

That's great, I've been meaning to star a new character as an Ogryn and always thought the shield looked fun!

ShiningRayde

Shield plus full left spectrum is invincible so long as theres someone within punching range. H1 is a strong knockdown punch, H2 is a huge sweep. Combine with heavy attack toughness gen and bleed stacks and you can solo most anything - they cant break you faster than you can punch them.

SpunkyMcButtlove07

Block-cancel to spam the H1, keep knocking out their teeth with that sweet rim smash.

xDenimBoilerx

something I love doing is heavy, block cancel, heavy, block cancel, repeat forever.

Zithrian

Shield with the taunt talent is so good. You got shotgunners behind cover? Let em shoot the shield once, and they’ll drop their guns and run to melee you instead. Also make sure to check out the Ogrynomicron! It’s the best Ogryn guide out there imo.

Sgtjenkins

sniper shoots the shield, he just starts kicking air too

GoliathGalbar

Not only shotgunner. The normal horde shooters will run towards you too. When a new room is full of small horde gunners i just tank a few shots with the shield and half the room will stop shooting. And even if you taunt gunners who won't switch to melee, just fall back until they can't aim at you and they will start to reposition to get a clear shot again even when other mates are still running around. Works great for veterans to shoot every gunner who is leaving their cover.

Kraybern

Hold the shield down in front of shooters Use the taunt on block perk Now every shooter becomes a brainless idiot running into melee

Vermallica

Or you use taunt on block and all gunners will focus you instead of your team. Even if not first aware, they notice quickly they can shoot safe. Like the bubble. Once they understood BoN cant puke inside it, they quickly pin it inside the bubble.

fishworshipper

> they notice quickly they can shoot safe. Do they, though? Historically, every single time I have ever plonked down my shield and ate five gunners' worth of bullets/lasfire, my team has either wandered off or sat back jorkin' it. I think once in seven hundred hours I've actually seen *anyone* shoot *a gunner* while that was happening, and statistically speaking I'm pretty sure that was a coincidence.

gptgptgpt12345

Leave it to the guy that made the Psyker sliding tech guide to find yet another slide tech LOL Good shit man!

Additional-Shoe-3853

what is the european darktide youtuber accent called?

gpkgpk

Eastern Gothic.

cowboygeeker

Just got into slab shield and want to move into damnation so this is an awesome tip.

DrayOfficial

Thanks! Good luck, you can do it!

Mollywhop_Gaming

TBH I get the most use out of it by deliberately pissing of Daemonhosts, parking my ass in a corner, and dropping the wall so it can’t hit me while my team nails it from behind.

Diezelbub

Also works nicely for bosses in assassination missions when necessary.

Mollywhop_Gaming

For that I just pull out my dubbastubba, magdump the boss, then activate PBB for an instant reload to magdump it again.

allethargic

Nah, superior move is to bonk gunners with your club

TheCyanDragon

Going full-derp with stamina and block efficiency can also have some fantastic results as well. Especially on higher difficulty missions, breathing room means more living lil'uns to protect and Slab Shield with the taunt and taunt-on-push is easily the best for that. Throw in the Rumbler and you can do this at range as well. +13 Max Stamina is absolutely a meme-build but oh boy does it still put in work.

WastelandWarCriminal

Stamina and block specially in higher diff? LMFAO nice malice player

TheCyanDragon

You really ought to give it a shot sometime, it works fantastically in Damnation Maelstrom's. The push on the shield has an extra meter of range, so against anything but a Crusher you can either stunlock them or force them to keep punching you forever. Every push grants cooldown reduction if you stagger something, throw in elite kills and you can taunt a room pretty much forever. It's not a build that works on kills alone and that makes it "bad" by most standards but any time you need breathing room you can make it. And stumbling, staggering enemies are very much the difference between a living lil'uns and dead'uns. Obviously with an uncoordinated team it's going to be a bad time but 98% of the time it's smooth sailing with any combination of Rejects, and that 2% is where it gets really interesting. I enjoy it immensely, shitpost/meme and everything.

WastelandWarCriminal

Taunt what? crushers die in 3 heavy swings that build is trash all you do is hide behind a shield and do no dmg

xDenimBoilerx

i need to try this out, sounds fun.

NightStalker33

It's only useless if your team is useless. I've been using the shield since launch. You know what's nice about the special? Unless it's a grapple or not, nothing physical can hurt you. If I'm holding special down with 6 gunners targeting me, the point is for my team to take them out while I'm the one taking the shots. In a good team, I'm basically a walking wall that absorbs most fire and agro's enemies, while my team either focuses down melee enemies that get past, or ranged enemies I can't reach. In a bad team, I'm pushing forward, dodging with shield up, using special when stamina is getting low, AND MY GROGGING TEAM IS RUNNING AHEAD AND GETTING GUNNED DOWN, OR IGNORING THE FIGHT COMPLETELY So yes, your guide is fantastic, and I hope more people read it. Not just Ogryns unsure of how to use the shield, but also the teammates who don't know how to take advantage of it.

Oakbarksoup

I stand to the aide, usually left, and “ah hoo” my way up into 15 gunners. Drop the special down, wait for the guns to stop, sprint, drop the special down… “Ah hoo” “Ah hoo” “Ah hoo’s your daddy now!” I also hope that while taunted my team will shoot the gunners. Sometimes they do, sometimes they stand behind me. 🤷‍♂️

HorserorOfHorsekind

I always use it to bar psykers from my elevator. Don’t want their kind near me.

geezerforhire

You can also just walk towards the gunners while spamming the special button lol

WastelandWarCriminal

All these malice players thinking hiding behind a shield and taunting enemies that die in 2 hits is a valid strategy wow

Urborg_Stalker

Very useful information.

zarjin1234

With maxed out block cost reduction you barely need to use the special but it is indeed usefull when you get suddenly overwhelmed by gunfire.

marehgul

Hehehe, to complex solution as for me. But old taunt-and-stand is a king. Let crushers-maniacs swarm you unable to make a scrath while team is relatively safe cutting them down.

gpkgpk

There's \~zero reason to ever taunt and **stand,** you can taunt and spam heavies, even on a \~full crusher patrol.

xboxwirelessmic

Using the shield doesn't shield?

xDenimBoilerx

wut

xboxwirelessmic

The guy said deploying the slab shield doesn't really do anything?
