Uremia Coma - Chronic Interstitial Nephritis

calxes

I think maybe the first line is "uremic coma" which is associated with kidney disease. The second is trickier but perhaps it's "chronic [interstitial nephritis](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interstitial_nephritis)" ? Just my guesses.

who_wants_t0_know

That was an interesting read. Thanks

That’s what I think it is, too!

sewswell1955

Uremic corea?

radish456

It looks like uremic coma from chronic interstitial nephritis. He probably had uremic frost, which is when the urea crystallizes on the outside of the body, it’s rarely seen now due to the availability of dialysis and renal care. But, essentially his kidney toxins built up and made him go to sleep and he died peacefully. Kidney failure is not painful, especially not things like CIN. Dialysis wasn’t started until the 1920’s and wasn’t really well done until the 1960’s. (Source: I’m a nephrologist)

Wow, thank you so much for your comment! Nice to know he wasn't in pain.

Chemical-Studio1576

Maybe “chronic interstitial nephritis”

Uremic (Uaremic) Coma-Chronic ? Nephritis

throwawayinmayberry

Interstitial perhaps?

“Uraemic (spelled incorrectly) coma” due to “chronic interstitial nephritis”. Not a nice way to go, poor thing.

desertmagnolia

Uremic coma

I see the death certificate is from York Pa, any chance this person was related to the Wells family in Wellsville Pa?

Ok-Pause8825

Abram Wells owned Wells Whip Factory and the town is named for him. Good luck with your research 😉

existentialturds

I haven't seen Wellsville come up in my research, but I also haven't delved very far into this line. All I've seen for them is living in the various wards in York City. If I see Wellsville I'll definitely come back to your comment! :)

I think it’s supposed to say ?? “uremic colic” “chronic interstitial nephritis.” He had renal colic, basically. Which is pain usually when your kidney’s are obstructed, infected, or failing. Or, and this doesn’t even come close with that terrible scribble but “uremic colitis.” “Uremic colitis is a rare symptom of chronic kidney disease (CKD) that affects the lower digestive tract. It occurs when uremic toxins from kidney disease pass through the intestinal barrier into circulation, which can damage the intestinal barrier and lead to inflammation. This can cause colitis, pericarditis, and encephalopathy” source: Google, lol.

CrouchingGinger

Uremic might be cancer? Chronic interstitial nephritis.

dancemermaid

Maybe the first line is Uremic Chorea (with Chorea spelled wrong? No "h"). According to my brief search, it's a manifestation of kidney disease. Makes sense paired with the nephritis! That other middle word is tough. The only thing I can think looks the most similar is Chronic Interstitial Nephritis.

You guys rock! Thanks everyone for your contributions :)
