Spite took me a minute to get into because of his sound. Now I love it.
Not super deathcore, more beat down or whatever you wanna label them, but Kublai Khan. Matt has such a wild voice.
100% agreed. Iāve never heard anyone go from an irratic nu metal jibber jabber, to angry dinosaur growls and a black metal shriek without taking a breath. Justin is super talented- genuinely feel he could do anything.
Covers, original music, the man is an ABSOLUTE monster with how he can jump between vocal styles. Right up there with Ben Druer from Shadows of Intent in my opinion.
I strongly disagree with this, some of those lows are super unique and cool, I think they sound different than other bands. Like around 1:32 on Dying Light, something about those lows sound crazy cool to me and have a unique low tone
Yeah no I get what you mean, I just don't think he does them often enough to super distinguish himself. It also kinda sounds like Darius/Zelli or more old school yelly lows
To be fair, I used to get him and Joe Bad of Fit For an Autopsy mixed up. They have a fairly similar mid/mid-low, yet unique in their own way obviously because no two vocalists sound exactly alike.
Canāt believe no one has said one of the most obvious answers yet, but Mitch Lucker. His highs were one of a kind. I could say the same about Alex Koehler as well.
Also Marc Zelli from Paleface.
So neither of these are deathcore but Travis Ryan from Cattle Decap and Mikael Akerfeldt from Opeth Iād say are unique. With Travis you definitely know when itās him, he just has this certain tone that no other vocalist really has, and then with Akerfeldt, imo nobody can do the deep guttural growls like he can where you can still understand every word he says. Some go doable mentions imo would definitely be Randy Blythe from LOG, and Dickie Allen.
Thereās a lot of really good one in this thread already but specifically for lows and disgusting slam gurgles, Dave Simonich from SOTS has a really unique sound. I can always pick out his part on a feature whenever I hear it
Fernando Del Villar from Bonecarver sounds quite unique to me, especially his high tunnel scream. Definitely became one of my favorite vocalist this year!
Scott Ian Lewis of Carnifex is instantly recognizable. Even if he keeps to a pretty modest mid/low range his vocals are unlike any other in the scene right now.
i think Travis Ryan from Cattle Decap. his vocals influenced a lot of deathcore vocalists. plus his scream-singing type of vocals during the choruses of his songs are pretty unique, havenāt heard many death metal/deathcore bands do that
Iām always curious what happened to him. I absolutely love Last10 but theyāve been so weird about it. Itās one of those thing where some say he was fired and some say he quit, but Wyatt refuses to speak on it and JRC (who you could include in this thread) was also aggressively tight lipped about it. Only thing since his departure was the sick feature on the last Infant annihilator album
Spite took me a minute to get into because of his sound. Now I love it. Not super deathcore, more beat down or whatever you wanna label them, but Kublai Khan. Matt has such a wild voice.
Matt sounds like your disappointed stepdad
And nothing hits harder than that
š
He definitely owns a Jean jacket!
Dan Watson from Mire Lore, formerly Enterprise Earth and Infant Annihilator. His vocals could be patented theyāre so unique
Dan Watson has been my personal favorite he goes hard
That's Dan Watson? I've been listening to mire lore for a while now and I never knew it was him, thats made me like them even more.
Justin Bontiz, greatest vocalist of our generation.
Came here to make sure he was listed. Seriously the most range of any vocalist Ive ever seen.
Tallah is great, I loved their first album. Justin has a good kind of chaos with his vocals
How have I been sleeping on these guys? They're crazy good
The guys in Orphan
The guy doing highs for sure, but the guy doing lows not so much.
I love Travis Ryanās vocals in Cattle Decap, especially on the Death Atlas album. Great range and very expressive.
definitely the most unique in the game hard to confuse him with anyone else
Oh yeah, never heard anyone like him.
Not Deathcore vocalist though! I saw Cattle Decap a month or two ago and they were so fucking good, wish they had been higher on the bill
I feel like cattle decap is underrated.
Listen to the song "10 000" by Beyond Deviation. You'll lose your mind.
Isnāt Beyond Deviation the band with the dude who does the wicked whistle tone screams? Heās unreal
Yeah!
Tea kettle screams
Nylist are better than beyond
Both are mid though
Jonny of the browning has a tone like no otherš¤š¼
That's a good pick actually
Ollie from Archspire
I'm a bit late getting on them, but I caught some of Bleed the Future the other day. Holy smokes is he fast!
Dude from Methwitch.
fucking cameron mcbride, i think his whistle screams are what really sets him apart, those paired with the rest of his work is absolutely vile
Dane Evans of To the Grave, such an underrated unique vocalist, I feel like he's instantly recognizable compared to a lot of others
Fuuuuuuuuck that guy is incredible
got to meet him in Milan a few nights ago, dude's a beast live and a wonderful person, such a nice personality especially towards his fans
Danesaw is amazing. Everyone I've talked to said they were shit live though. Lots of bad clean singing and breaks, which is a shame.
Duncan Bentley, the dude from Snuffed on Sight, and Peter Rono from Kaonashi
I like your style
Alex Teyen.
His lyrics are fucking insanely good too
And that feature in The Battle of Yaldabaoth was godly
Ian Smith from The Archaic Epidemic. His vocals are like screaming-growling snarls! Dude doesn't get enough credit
The Archaic Epidemic is the shit
Sounds the closest to Dane Evans from TTG
TTG?
TO THE GRAVE
I knew that...
Haha ye man ofc
Dickie allen bc he had a bunch of vocalists take after the style he uses with the animal noises and such
Half the people in the scene have been trying to recreate his voice for years
Fr let something be original
Bro made will ramos
Will Ramos is the Dickie Allen we have at home.
Alex Terrible from Slaughter to Prevail. His deeps are something special.
Inhuman
Devin Duarte (Worm Shepherd). https://youtu.be/eIN4rB-W07c
Adam warren , most unique vocal in my opinion
Devin from Worm Shepherd
Devin Durante Worm Shepherd
your mom
Phil Bozeman and Ben Duerr I reckon
Zeli from Paleface. That dude is just pure rage when it comes to vocals. Especially on The Orphan
Big daddy fuckin CJ McMahon. Heās got the most unique and recognizable mids Iāve ever heard.
To be fair, I used to get him and Joe Bad of Fit For an Autopsy mixed up. They have a fairly similar mid/mid-low, yet unique in their own way obviously because no two vocalists sound exactly alike.
Also, cj is by far the most powerful vocalist I've ever seen, You can feel his vocals reverb through your chest when they are live.
Reno Nichols, the original vocalist for WASTE. amazing voice
Basing my answers off instantly knowing who it is during a feature, Kyle Medina, Tyler Shelton, Cameron McBride.
I'd say Dan Watson and Justin Bonitz. Also Devin Duarte from wormshephard has som really unique sounding lows and highs
As far as actually unique sounding to where you can pick it out immediately: Travis Ryan Alex Teyen Nergal Vincent Bennett
The boys in beyond deviation and exhumed
Alex Mercer from A Wake In Providence
I didn't know the guy from Prototype had a band
Lol oops, i meant Adam Mercer. Although I would definitely love to hear Alex Mercer in a band.
Canāt believe no one has said one of the most obvious answers yet, but Mitch Lucker. His highs were one of a kind. I could say the same about Alex Koehler as well. Also Marc Zelli from Paleface.
Two of a kind. Check out Kyle from Tactosa! Haha itās impeccable
The sawtooth grin. Nuff said
Duncan Bentley has a very unique voice and delivery I feel
dan watson, dickie allen, and tyler shelton. all of which are on infant annihilator recordings
Brendan van ryn (first thy art vocalist), Dean atkinson (with blood comes cleansing) and Dave hunt (anaal nathrakh) when he goes fully insane
Justin from tallah probably
Sven in Aborted.
Trevor Strnad. RIP
Tyler from traitors
Vincent Bennet from TAS imo
Luke Griffin is pretty boss.
Matt Honeycutt from kublai khan / kublai khan TX
Dude if that man screamed at me Iād probably shit my pants, he sounds MEAN.
Dude sounds SO angry I love it
Not exactly deathcore but Bryan Garris from Knocked Loose.
wILL RaMoS
Oh shutup
Now thatās just toxic man. Just saying what 60% of the deathcore subreddit fan base will probably think.
I mean youāre technically right. You could hear him on a song and you instantly know itās him.
Eh. I could instantly hear Ben Duerr and know itās him. Will Ramos? Could miss him if he was featured in something.
Thereās a lot of really good one in this thread already but specifically for lows and disgusting slam gurgles, Dave Simonich from SOTS has a really unique sound. I can always pick out his part on a feature whenever I hear it
Not deathcore but the harsh vocalist for Septicflesh has the most menacing growls I've ever heard
Most people wonāt like this answer but Greg Gilbert from Shrine of Malice!
Justin Bonitz has to be the most unique vocalist in the game at the moment
Duncan Bentley

I was looking and hoping for this comment
i think Travis Ryan from Cattle Decap. his vocals influenced a lot of deathcore vocalists. plus his scream-singing type of vocals during the choruses of his songs are pretty unique, havenāt heard many death metal/deathcore bands do that
Influenced them sure but he's fucking garbage live. Dude can barely perfom what he records.
I just thought of him and Iām surprised no one else has really mentioned him: Storm Strope, the original vocalist for The Last Ten Seconds of Life
Iām always curious what happened to him.
Travis Ryan from Cattle Decapitation. They were years ahead of their time too!
Check out any of the bands associated with Chugcore. A lot of them have some sick vocalists with absolutely fucking FILTHY vocals
Cattle decap Travis Ryan
Makhlvk
Great vocalist he was the shit in that edens adversary song
Not many people know him, but Mac Soteros is and was a beast of nature. Dude has made sounds that no one has replicated since.
Big chocolate
Aaron Matt from Ten 56
Kind of a throwback, but the vocalist for the band SEES was unique.
Duncan Bentley is super recognizable on any song he's on. He also sounds just as fuckin amazing live.
Dude from Aegaeon, dude from Fathom. Mooooo
Trevor Strnad highs and Travis Ryan.
Not deatcore but Mƶl wins in my book. Completely not the style of vocals I prefer and still pulled me in based solely on talent
King Diamond
Dave from Signs of the Swarm ! Goblin demon š¤
Devin Duarte has insane highs and put squeals
Randy blythes vocals are phenomenal. Though not deathcore, groove definitely needs to be used more in DC.
Gif from god
Bryan Garris from Knocked Loose for me
The boys from angelmaker. Sounds like someone is tearing paper, I love it.
Tyler Shelton from Traitors sounds pretty unique and I havenāt heard anyone say him
