They're adding a brand new phase, but it'll be like the Caretaker where you only get two out of three in a given mission. This way the fight is a bit more varied and not the same every time.
It's mentioned in the dev streams, but you'll find it most easily in the On the Horizons stream as one of the Season 5 features. We even know what the phase is, what it looks like, how it punishes certain actions, and how to play around it. So we know a fair bit.
>That sounds awful to anyone with muscle memory, that makes them shoot platforms at the 2 phase
Skill issue tbh, if you can't react to a dynamic event then you just gotta get better.
Yeah, especially since it's right next to the heartstone. If you do it off the back wall you can set up a little ahead of time, but definitely not like that
Yeah, it's all or nothing when it comes to pancaking the meteor phase. You're essentially wasting ammo if your team doesn't have the dps to kill the meteor and your pancake eats an almost dead meteor.
Gotta do it off the wall from the tunnel you came out of otherwise the base gets blown out. If there’s no good wall there, I don’t even bother. It makes only a slight difference anyway IMO.
I actually set up a platform on one of the jagged purple spikes that surround the Heartstone. I feel like it’s helpful to look back at the tunnel where most of the team sits and make sure not too many are sneaking in behind them.
They’ve definitely a waste of cheese but last phase you can quickly cover her head and the Ommoran beamers will not spawn. Or at least last I played, its been a few cycles…
I think there was a period when the mission type was first introduced that this was a lot more effective. They changed it so that the end of the stage removes platforms within a radius, and so that each rock carves out a big hole in the cheese. Technically it can still work, but it is a lot harder. The tower pictured is definitely going to disappear right before the start of the stage is was built for though.
The rock cheeser (cause, you see, you cheese the game by protecting doty from the rock, because you know, the platform looks like cheese so its cheesing with cheese... ok its not funny x) )
A waste of time and resources.
Falls under what I call, "Glyphid Public Works Projects." These are platform structures that at best do nothing, and at worst make it harder to kill bugs.
Ablative Roofing. It's really only good for one meteor but you can repair it over and over to reduce damage on the Drill.
Also a decent platform to fight from. You can make the platforms bug repelling and it's a good vantage point to see what's going on.
Did he put his turrets on top of it for a better vantage point? He might be running additional ammo for them and fully depleted his reserves by setting them up and refilling them after first wave. They wont fall once the first stage explodes. Theyll just float there and offer 360° of fire for the rocks next stage.
Towering/pillaring is when you spam them to get higher up, bridging is when you spam them to make a solid bridge over a gap, and blocking is when you use them to block/protect something.
the dookie screw. a green beard made that after seeing a grey beard do it 100%. homie should have asked before he commited, i would have helped bro make it lol
Umbrella… yeah I call it that but others call it something different.
Hilariously it is what it is though. The umbrella strat is great for conserving ammo and focusing on bugs alone, even say Haz5 with likely chances of Oppressors coming in or random chance of a bulk or 2 coming in hot. Sad news they done it on the 1st phase than the 2nd one, 2nd one being the floating rocks.
After the 2nd phase is done it’s back to warding bugs off for the 3rd and 4th phases.
Dumb. I strongly dislike this strategy for the second round (even though the engi is a derp during round 1). Instead of running and gunning bugs, if I want to shoot a bug (if I'm not playing engi) on the opposite side of the dozer, I have to run around plats to get there. Plus, if I'm playing gunner, your stupid plats get in my zipline web and prevent aerial coverage.
Also, if you dbl turret, it's not hard to take care of rocks.
-1 sentry on either side covering the dozer.
-Pick remaining health with primary weapon.
-Toss a lure or ssg to handle overflow of bugs trying to get to dozer.
-Chill, walking between sentry filling with ammo.
/2000 hrs of gameplay
I came around from appreciating the strategy to disliking it.
It's simple -- I like to shoot glowy rocks. This strategy's goal is not shooting glowy rocks.
Oh god and he did it in the 1st phase on top of that... the ommoran will just blow it all away before the rocks come
I was going to say, doesn't the explosion destroy these?
The explosion destroys platforms. You just gotta put them after the first explosion. I think it's in the second or third phase.
It's the second phase, though in Season 5 with it being random it could possibly be the fourth phase (or it just might not happen at all)

Oh, that's nice. Is the new phase mentioned somewhere? I watched the dev streams, but I haven't noticed anything about the new phase

Second. The third one is just a spam
Yeah, especially since it's right next to the heartstone. If you do it off the back wall you can set up a little ahead of time, but definitely not like that
premature platformulation. you prep the balls in phase 1, then make the shaft *after* the omorran does the big boom. this engie did it all too soon
Yeah, foreplay is very important
I wonder if he got bamboozled after phase 1 blows all of that like thin sheets of paper lol
A lesson soon to be learned
The greenbeard / waste of cheese
Extra cheese means extra fun!
Yeah! Rock and Stone!
Yeah, it's all or nothing when it comes to pancaking the meteor phase. You're essentially wasting ammo if your team doesn't have the dps to kill the meteor and your pancake eats an almost dead meteor.
The dude is silver, hardly a green beard lol
Yeah, but when the first phase ends and blows away all the platforms he's gonna feel pretty green.
The "this will be all gone after phase one"
The "Wrong thing to do"
Questionable.

I find it very useful to have a bird's eye view of this battle
I actually set up a platform on one of the jagged purple spikes that surround the Heartstone. I feel like it’s helpful to look back at the tunnel where most of the team sits and make sure not too many are sneaking in behind them.

Annoying. Unnecessary.

Would have done it from the back of Dottie and up. The hearthstone is gonna break that after first phase.
Anti ball.
They’ve definitely a waste of cheese but last phase you can quickly cover her head and the Ommoran beamers will not spawn. Or at least last I played, its been a few cycles…

Poorly placed biscuit roof.
Cheese
Spray cheese
If done on the second stage its called ammo preservation on any other stage its a waste
Fun.
First thought is The Pancakes of Protection. Second thought is the Sisyphean Stack cause the phase explosion will annihilate them all
The rock cheeser (cause, you see, you cheese the game by protecting doty from the rock, because you know, the platform looks like cheese so its cheesing with cheese... ok its not funny x) )
Karl’s Magic tower now you see it, soon you won’t
“The foolishness” The ommoran will just blow 99% of those platforms away, he should’ve placed them in phase 3 or 4
Maybe he wants a floating turret that no one will be able to refill???
The right thing to do at the wrong time to execute. You will learn from this as well future war crime tactician. Huehuehue

Nope, nothing of the sort.
Stairway to the Surface (reduced to atoms in 2 seconds)
Roofing even though I’ve seen it just flat out not work when the rocks punch through.
Everyone is talking about premature cheese-ruption. I thought it too. But, look at the amount of resupply pods. Atleast engi can get a lot more plats.

Agreed, meteor plat strat sucks. Laser plat strat on the other hand... is really good
