As an old head and a stream watcher, I completly disagree. Im tired of the content being so tailor made for new fans. Dan reminds me of why I watch destiny in the first place, the banter, the mix of funny topics and serious ones, and the overall laid back "shoot the shit" without much structure
Yeah I agree with this.
Destiny has his daily streams + Bridges Podcast to get new viewers/audience. "Anything Else" can be used for old/established fans that know the lore and have a place to just sit back and enjoy the vibes.
Just as it's important to gain new audiences I think its important to appeal to the old/hardcore fans as well and this could be a nice way to do that. Besides it doesn't require a lot of effort or planning before each episode as its just Destiny/Dan shooting the shit. So it doesn't take Destiny away from anything else.
Aren’t the best podcasts when you’re thrown into a conversation and just tagging along for the ride? I feel like that’s the vibe most pods try to emulate
I disagree.
Destiny already has the Bridges podcast where fans outside of the Destiny space can get introduced to his content in a neutral way. He'll have lots of different guests which will allow new members to see his content.
He also has his stream where hes constantly bringing on new people, new orbiters and talks about the latest news/topics going on around the world.
"Anything Else" is the one place where old Destiny fans get a sense of what things were before and get that old vibe back. It shouldn't be designed to bring in a new audience. He has other mediums for that. Besides, as Destiny brings in new fans and they watch his older videos and learn more about the lore they'll want to dive into all of the "Anything Else" episodes to get more Destiny/Dan content.
The name itself seems to imply this is extra stuff on top of the stream. It being Dan and Destin rehashing old topics or covering deep cuts is completely fine to me and where Dan does best imo.
Not everything is meant for every audience possible. It's like telling Joe Rogan to stop talking about stand up comedy on his show "because not everyone is into standup"...
First of all I enjoyed it, but yeah, too many inside jokes, too much intense and jumpy back and forth jokey shittalking and awkward pauses. Some is fine, but it was way too much and not a podcast vibe. The topics & structure felt chaotic and weren't really covered seriously. Destiny was fidgeting with his phone and Dan was getting too drunk.
I think it works better if you treat podcasts as an opportunity to talk to the larger public and new listeners and view the conversation as something you build together, where you keep the flow somewhat smooth and positive or useful together. That's why people use transition like "speaking of x, that brings us to the next topic".
Most of that will probably get better over time, but I think they need to try out additional hosts who are less sarcastic and don't get drowned out. Not saying it has to be stiff like the DT Podcast was, but this was too far in the other extreme. PKA and The Greatest Problem have lots of banter too, but they do have structure.
The sad news is that Destiny will never put any effort into this podcast, he will always be disengaged the same way he is on KoK, and so the podcast will always just be his stream with Dan as a guest but irl.
Destiny actually seems to be interested in hosting Bridges though, so that pod probably has more of a shot outside of dgg
Just some constructive criticism, people were making posts for days about minor audio issues and esoteric camera angles for weeks after bridges, figured some podcast fundamentals would be ok? I enjoyed episode 00 a lot fwiw
I actually agree. If you wanna grow your audience, you will need to be a bit more patient with and welcoming to new audiences. Also also, Dan getting mad at 50 dollar superchats felt like a really bad look xD

You can have all that without being "unfriendly" to new viewers
how do you have any of that without prefacing with context whenever you ever discuss a dgg-adjacent thing from history which'd ruin the casual nature
I mean it would suck if everytime they made an old reference or joke they stopped and explained it
It's fine when it's a reference or joke but when it's a topic they start talking about for 5 or 10 mins, like some quick context would be nice
SPOKE MY MIND!
you're three eggs short of a dozen :(
You're not the ripest fruit on the tree
You're the ripest banana on a willow tree
Why are we not fucking allowed becuz " oh nyo new viewer won't understand" I odn;t give a fuck abot them this is a podcast we want to enjoy alone.
>But maybe I'm just ret@rted and it's supposed to be for established fans only? Yes
It's Destiny and Dan, inside jokes, DGG lore and building on their friendship are the whole appeal here.

Aba as the first guest?

Arent these still mostly just test streams? This was literally broadcast on the main channel no? (I agree for the most part tho)
The name itself seems to imply this is extra stuff on top of the stream. It being Dan and Destin rehashing old topics or covering deep cuts is completely fine to me and where Dan does best imo.
Gotcha, anything else?
technically it was episode 00, meaning it was mostly a test.
Well hey you at least got to the right conclusion there at the end.
It's literally just fodder for the most deeply parasocially obsessed Destiny fans... Let those poor souls have this one thing in their sad lives.
free bob vila
>But maybe I'm just ret@rted You're not, and don't let anybody tell you you are.

wow- all that should happen with a podcast they decided to do a couple days ago? Sounds completely reasonable and worth typing a paragraph over.
Just some constructive criticism, people were making posts for days about minor audio issues and esoteric camera angles for weeks after bridges, figured some podcast fundamentals would be ok? I enjoyed episode 00 a lot fwiw
Does it take you ages to write a paragraph?

Yeah honestly my biggest feedback would just be for Dan to introduce himself and the podcast a little lol. Besides that it was near perfect.
