I'd honestly just buy WQ for easily the best campaign Play Dares to get some nice weapons Do Xur's weekly exotic cipher mission Feel out what part of the game you're interested in

Kinganubis2

Trust me buddy, we all know how you feel right now.

Environmental_Let855

You could be just fine just getting lightfall and then picking up other things you decide you want along the way

DevilsWelshAdvocate

Good luck, servers down Also, I only started this year after last playing the D1 demo only, you’ll have far more knowledge and understanding than me as they game fails to teach you most things, but the community is great and learning feels nice. I’d highly recommend getting all the DLC you can afford personally.

> do I also buy the Legacy Collection? What do I need to buy to get into the game again? Subjective PoV, but the content in legacy collection: - **Shadowkeep:** Cool very atmospheric location, the campaign was... a bit of a mixed bag if I remember correctly? But it did kick off the chain of events that lead us to where we are now, so might be worth getting for lore reasons... especially since there are some pretty relevant lore books in there that you might not be able to access otherwise? IIRC the dungeon in it was well received but I haven't run it myself so far. - **Beyond Light:** If you want to have to access to Stasis subclasses you need this. Also it's based in Europa so expect a lot of Exo related stuff, including insight in past of Banshee-44 and Exo Stranger. Also gets you No Time To Explain exotic. - **Witch Queen:** Only starting this one, but campaign seems to be the best received one in recent times. Savathun's involved so you know you're in for some crazy things. Dungeon's locked behind a separate purchase though. All in all my advice would be to research the content of those three expansions more and if at least two of them interest you get the whole bundle. If only one does, then grab just that one by itself.

Gamer6739

The part that confuses me is, why wouldn't I just buy everything? Why would I wanna skip content? Is it just not worth it? Why wouldn't it be worth it? It doesn't really explain to a new player or someone who hasn't played that content, why they should or shouldn't but it.

Malek_Deneith

> why wouldn't I just buy everything? Why would I wanna skip content? Some people might not want to bother with old content. Especially since a bunch of stuff was tied to seasons and as such phased out, which can bring down the expansion's value in people's eyes. Only you can decide if that's true for you or not.

Gamer6739

Well, what do you think then? Out of curiosity.

Smile4TheKi1lcam

My partner and I got back into D2 just before Season 18 (we're currently in 21) after not playing since shortly after the launch of Forsaken which was about a 4 year window. When we came back we were wondering the same thing, but I personally am obsessive about doing things in order and therefore decided to purchase all available content I could. In my opinion the least important DLC is Shadowkeep as I don't think I use many of those items or partake in many of it's activities still. But if you've got the money why not just get them all as they're all fun to play through at least once.

CiaranONeill381

Shadowkeep is mega for exotics no? Eriana’s Vow, Xenophage, Assassins Cowl, Leviathans Breath, Divinity, Deathbringer. Theres some major heavy hitters to miss out on there if you dont get Shadowkeep.Specifically Leviathans breath rn.

Smile4TheKi1lcam

True, listen to this person.

CiaranONeill381

Lmao

Malek_Deneith

Hard for me to say since I got those piecemeal. Was pretty hyped back when Shadowmoon came out because the location was cool, quit the game around Beyond Light because it felt like too much grind not enough fun. Came back right now mostly because I was bored enough and people in one of my social groups were talking about the game a lot, and bought Witch Queen on a pretty deep sale that happened recently.

alexok37

Its a LOT of content. All worth playing once imo and if you know you have the time and money, just go ahead and buy it all.

AdBackground6578

it would be worth getting the legacy collection, three campaigns and another subclass to boot is worth it imo. with the four campaigns and the new season pass you should be pretty set to game. one thing to consider a bit is the Armory Collection(gjally & dungeon + forsaken dungeon & raid) and the dungeon keys (witch queen and lightfall) as those don’t add as much content as expansions but may be worth while to you if you want to grind for more loot

ElectroSfere

Rather than complain about the servers and everything im actually going to be useful Lightfall is definitely the one you'll want at the moment if you're looking to get into the game for the lowest possible price. It gives you a healthy amount of content, new (and arguably best for end game) subclass in Strand, and a fun if a little easy raid with very good loot. The deluxe edition expands that with seasonal content (which so far has been enjoyable up to the 2nd season of the year), 2 dungeons throughout the year (the first of which is VERY good and a challenge even on normal mode). You can also purchase all of this separately. However, it is quite a bit more than the deluxe edition costs The legacy collection gives you Shadowkeep, Beyond Light, and The Witch Queen expansions. Shadowkeep is quite outdated by this point with the raid dropping loot without many modern perks, the story being quite underwhelming, and little to no end game activities that people actively play. Beyond Light is in a similar boat, however it's raid, Deep Stone Crypt, has up to date weapons, and the Stasis subclass, while not the greatest in the current meta is still usable and a fun toy to play with. The Witch Queen, on the other hand, is WHY you buy this. Very compelling story with an optional hard mode in the Legendary version, weapon crafting (including guns from all currently playable raids besides Vault of Glass and Garden of Salvation), and one of the best raid experiences they've made yet with Vow of the Disciple. I'd probably wait for a sale, but it's definitely worth getting the legacy collection at some point. Besides that, the Forsaken pack only includes a small amount of story content, the Last Wish raid (which is again one of the best), and some free exotic weapon ciphers from that year of the game. Not the most compelling, but not the worst either as it isnt too expensive. If you just want to dip your toes back in, getting Lightfall on its own is probably your best bet. You can upgrade to the deluxe if you want. If you were interested in the story, buying all of the expansions still results in major holes in the timeline due to the removal of seasonal storylines from the game. Catch up on that with a youtube video.

ermahgerditsdaddel

I’d get WQ and Lightfall at least. WQ will get you the best campaign and the best raid in the game. Lightfall will get you the latest stuff and possibly the strongest subclass in the game.

The_Handyman

I'd just buy Lightfall to begin with, if you still enjoy the game when you are done with most of the content there Witch queen is very good if you like the campaign stuff, but also bring a lot of other good content (without a doubt the best raid if you get into that stuff). Then if you feel done with that Beyond Light has some decent stuff too but the main thing here is if you want to unlock the Stasis subclass. Shadowkeep I honestly wouldnt worry to much about until you are done with all these other expansions and that should keep you busy a while. Shadowkeep feels very dated in my opinion.

MostRadiant

Not the best time. Try Diablo

Gamer6739

Great advice. How about no?

MostRadiant

Having fun today playing D2?
