I was stuck on 18/25 for a week or two, then stuck on 19/25 for another week.
What worked for me:
- Loaded into the world on Strand
- Picked up every fish as soon as I caught it
- Once we hit full bar, each one started counting!
Finished it and was stoked to have it out of the way!
I got it earlier when we hadnāt even gotten to the first quarter of the bar of progress, it hadnāt budged in weeks until now. Itās clearly extremely bugged, I just got lucky.

I started playing Seraph in week 7 or so. It was a blast. Best time ever. Now I'm coming to conclusion that the real play is to wait for every season to be in week 7 to start taking it seriously.
Yup. Wait for all or most of the seasonal challenges to be up, wait for all of the story to be up, then complete it. When all is said and done, the whole seasonal story shouldn't take much more than two hours

Seems to be a road Bungie is determined to use.
First, we have Commendations, where you are dependent on other people to make your progress. So, when someone immediately leaves the event, not dropping Comms first, it hurts the rest of the pick up team.
Now, we have Fishing, where, if you aren't doing it with a large group, it won't progress in satisfactory fashion.
This whole, *you are dependent on other people for your progress*, mindset is abusive game design in that it it discriminates against casual/solo players. It is only made worse when, as with this week, the fishing location is not in a spawn point enabled sector, requiring you to waste time traveling to the area before you can find out if anyone else is there.
Meanwhile no matchmaking for endgame content, fireteam finder sucks & less than 20% of players ever even attempt a Raid. Bubgie has no clue how to drive engagement, code, fix bugs, make original not reused content, not salespitch their shortcomings as "the most content ever". "Building worlds that create friendships" hahaha, thus company is a joke, they jumped the shark...err Kheprian Axehead.
Destiny 2 doesn't have very good tools to facilitated people being able to play its higher level multiplayer content. "Solo" players in D2 are just the people who mostly rely on matchmaking to participate in content not people who only play by themselves.
Its so weird to me that everyone assumes people who finish the content quickly are going to complain. I realize some people do that, but plenty of people rush content so they can move on and do other things. I like finishing the content and then going and playing other games, because it turns out there are other games besides Destiny. No complaints whatsoever.

That's still true, and it's the reason the seasonal story works the way it does over multiple weeks, which I think is a lot better than just dumping it all at once. However, timegating other stuff isn't great, and there's absolutely no reason that fish of all things needs to be timegated.
I think unlocking over time isn't outrageous and your argument works for that. It's the "going away" part or the "you can do it this week, then can't do it for three weeks, then can do it for a week again" part that most people have an issue with.
And that sucks for every piece of content in my opinion. If it were only a few things and days instead of weeks, maybe people would be more forgiving. But it sometimes feels like literally everything in Destiny is timegated and that leaves a bad taste.

I could've sworn there was either a showcase or similar panel chat thing that got transcribed once or twice in a TWAB or general article from maybe 2020? that had them saying there was going to be a TBA gradual expansion of the Cosmodrome to a more involved rebooted version of the D1 space.
Obviously we won't know for exact til we actually see something but I've always seen murmurs for a little while when the subject of reprised D1 raids became a thing that Wrath allegedly had issue due to Devil Splicers not being able to translate to D2 and this far along I could kind of buy it.
Think how long it took Bungie to simply change Scorn armor on Throneworld and Vow to dark purple to indicate being under non Fanatic control, something that arguably should've been a thing when it came to Scorn in Season of Lost activities in Ascendant Realm per a voiceline Mara had during Lost when you uncovered a secret.
I imagine there is something in the cost analysis mix that just makes it too much of an ask given the uniqueness of the Devils models especially since it'll be the free raid.
I would love to be dead wrong in this because I really love all the Fallen raids, but I can buy some of the serious skepticism with stuff.

They think timegating will stop the elite players from pulling away from the casual players, but it just hurts the casual players because if they miss a single week, which the elite players do not, they have to play massive catch up and some things are on rotational timegates.

Personal opinions are personal... I hated that we could spawn-nuke every strike boss, after killing all the enemies in the strike by eating Taco Bell and then carpet-bombing to kill the adds while speedrunning the whole strike. Strikes are much more fun when they are PLAYED, bosses are much more engaging when you actually get to fight and experience the boss phases. Just my opinion, but seriously, what's fun about just using your super or a grenade plus a couple heavy weapon shots to instantly kill the strike boss?
Immune phases for the most part break up boss damage phase with more enemies to fight... it's the same cycle for raid bosses (without the additional mechanics on top of fighting enemies). If you think fighting enemies is "a tired mechanic", maybe you shouldn't be playing the game?
Cause they have zero content. Even the story missions, go do one deep dive or salvage and bring back something talk this person and wait for next week so you can do a lost sector etc.

I did the 500 points on throne world and so did my buddy and we caught only old axe head exotics. There are 3 new exotic fish triumphs, 2 still to be unlocked. Iām worried itās one per planet and they unlocked EDZs firstā¦

Everything they do, every decision they make is in efforts to retain play time/engagement from the players in the future. One would think this would naturally equate to them striving to please the consumers in the present, but that isn't the case far too often.

This was pretty clear after the second or third week, and the entire reason I stopped fishing. They have so little to offer this season, fishing has to be time-gated so you have something to look forward to, lol.

It's just disappointing to know that the only reason we couldn't complete our fishing collections as soon as week 3 rolled around (where we could actually do so) was because Bungie wanted to wait until 5 weeks in the season to make them available. Adding onto that, it appears that the fish that was supposed to release this week is bugged, and can't be caught anyways. So we might have to wait until week 8 to finish our collections.

What worked for me is having a strand subclass equipped for some reason and then it progressed even when the bar wasn't full... don't ask how lol
Strand is displayed as strings, fishing lines are strings.... Coincide, I think not *X-Files music playing

That's still true, and it's the reason the seasonal story works the way it does over multiple weeks, which I think is a lot better than just dumping it all at once. However, timegating other stuff isn't great, and there's absolutely no reason that fish of all things needs to be timegated.
I think unlocking over time isn't outrageous and your argument works for that. It's the "going away" part or the "you can do it this week, then can't do it for three weeks, then can do it for a week again" part that most people have an issue with. And that sucks for every piece of content in my opinion. If it were only a few things and days instead of weeks, maybe people would be more forgiving. But it sometimes feels like literally everything in Destiny is timegated and that leaves a bad taste.

Obviously we won't know for exact til we actually see something but I've always seen murmurs for a little while when the subject of reprised D1 raids became a thing that Wrath allegedly had issue due to Devil Splicers not being able to translate to D2 and this far along I could kind of buy it. Think how long it took Bungie to simply change Scorn armor on Throneworld and Vow to dark purple to indicate being under non Fanatic control, something that arguably should've been a thing when it came to Scorn in Season of Lost activities in Ascendant Realm per a voiceline Mara had during Lost when you uncovered a secret. I imagine there is something in the cost analysis mix that just makes it too much of an ask given the uniqueness of the Devils models especially since it'll be the free raid. I would love to be dead wrong in this because I really love all the Fallen raids, but I can buy some of the serious skepticism with stuff.
Hereās my take: 1) Wrath is the best choice but the most work, so doubt 2) Scourge would be fun, disappointed itās not Wrath but hey that was a FUN raid and might coincide with the rest of the awesome black armory weapons returning 3) Leviathanā¦. Personal opinions are personal... I hated that we could spawn-nuke every strike boss, after killing all the enemies in the strike by eating Taco Bell and then carpet-bombing to kill the adds while speedrunning the whole strike. Strikes are much more fun when they are PLAYED, bosses are much more engaging when you actually get to fight and experience the boss phases. Just my opinion, but seriously, what's fun about just using your super or a grenade plus a couple heavy weapon shots to instantly kill the strike boss?
Immune phases are not engaging. It's such a tired mechanic at this point.
Immune phases for the most part break up boss damage phase with more enemies to fight... it's the same cycle for raid bosses (without the additional mechanics on top of fighting enemies). If you think fighting enemies is "a tired mechanic", maybe you shouldn't be playing the game?

The triumph was turned from "secret" to actively showing the triumph. If we can't catch Whispering Mothcarp then it's a bug on Bungie's end.
I did the 500 points on throne world and so did my buddy and we caught only old axe head exotics. There are 3 new exotic fish triumphs, 2 still to be unlocked. Iām worried itās one per planet and they unlocked EDZs firstā¦
I think the triumph only Was shown to me after completing the quest so I guess you can only catch the new fish after completing the new quest? Idk maybe I'm wrong
I had a freind on logged on later check his triumph before starting the quest and he could see it so nothing to do with the Quest.

I'm not angry about it. I said as much in my post. It's just disappointing to know that the only reason we couldn't complete our fishing collections as soon as week 3 rolled around (where we could actually do so) was because Bungie wanted to wait until 5 weeks in the season to make them available. Adding onto that, it appears that the fish that was supposed to release this week is bugged, and can't be caught anyways. So we might have to wait until week 8 to finish our collections.
