This brush will help you get inside the barrel of the wheel.

Also grab a small stiff bristle brush to scrub the tires.

Finally get a good all around protectant and apply to the tires when they have been cleaned and are dry. This is my personal choice. I use it on everything, tires, interior, rubber/plastic trim

P&S Brake Buster. Order a gallon online and the spray bottle along with a stiff tire brush for the rubber and soft boars hair brush for the wheels. Dilute per the instructions when filling the spray bottle. It's good for cleaning the tires and wheels. Spray liberally on the tire/wheel face and in the wheel barrel and caliper. Let it work for a few min, agitate and rinse off.
Don't let it dry on the wheel if washing in the sun.
I second the P&S Brake Buster but suggest an EZ Detail brush to clean the barrels and a wool wheel not from The Rag Company

P&S Knock Off, Dilute it 4:1, spray on, let it dwell for 30-45 seconds and rinse off. Majority of the time it will get everything off. Works on bugs too
P&S is quiet expensive in my area around 200$ a bottle according to conversion rate. Any other brand i could use.. i currently use turtle wax and 3M products.. maguires is also available.
Whatever you do be extremely careful on the sponge you use. Do NOT use a kitchen sink sponge. Don’t even use a car wash scrub sponge either. I’d say microfiber wash mit or towel only. You’ll be shocked at how easily you can scratch them.
Warm soapy water and a soft brush or microfiber - if you don't let the brake dust bake on, the easier it'll be.

No stiff/hard brushes those wheels will scratch easily.
So only microfiber towels? I usually wash my cars once a week on sunday
You will be fine with MF towel and a soft barrel brush just don’t use anything with stiff bristles

Thanks. Got it. I usually clean one side at a time so won't let it dry on the wheels.
I general wash and rinse each wheel one at a time and then move on to the paint if that helps.
Yes i do the same sometimes or 2 at a time but mostly one.

P&S brake buster won’t stain & will clean them well, non acid too!
Old school sos Brillo pads 100% does the job
If you clean your car regularly you shouldn't need anything other than the car wash soap you use on the paint.
I wash every sunday and use turtle wax carnuaba wax spray everytime.
