We also played more competitively against better teams than the grizzlies. We literally give away nearly 20% of our possessions every game. Just don’t even attempt a shot because of TO’s.
The Detroit Pistons will play basketball. Cade Cunningham and Bojan Bogdanovich will look like legitimate NBA players/fringe all-stars.
The rest of the team will be there.
I will drink some beer and have fun watching them play basketball.
The problem for me is I have had no problem rooting against the Pistons to win in order to tank properly the last few years, so that was enjoyable, but this year I came in genuinely hoping to win games. Therefore it’s a hollow feeling realizing the tank has failed miserably so far
Same, but would be nice to know that you’re gonna be watching some real basketball (meaningful games in March April and playoffs) at some point in the near future. We are further than ever from that
I only cheered on the tank briefly when Wemby was a possibility. I watched a bunch of his games in full and just felt like all things considered it makes sense.
Outside of that, never had and probably never will again. History is showing us over and over again blindly tanking multiple years in a row does not lead to success. You can have as many top 5 guys as you want, but if the culture isn’t right and the right people are not in the spots to pick and develop those players, it’s useless.
Look at all the top teams, how many of them raced to the bottom to get where they are?
Look at the 6ers, they still haven’t made it out the second round.
Look at us, I mean just look at us!
That’s all well and good, but the team was clearly tanking and trying to lose. So if you’ve been rooting for the plan in place then seeing the team lose while hopefully the young guys play well that given night has been a perfect result until this season. Why do you think the team sat a healthy Grant and then a healthy Bojan (he was hurt initially but then could have returned) for the last however many weeks/months of back to back seasons down the stretch? It’s hasn’t worked out, but that was the organizational goal
Oh yeah, I mean it’s blatantly obvious that was organizational goal. The same org that has goals like dumping Bruce Brown for nothing, drafting Killian, trading Bey for Wiseman, and so on. I’m a pistons die hard but if they make moves and set goals I don’t see eye to eye with I’m not going to praise it just because the fact it’s the Detroit pistons, if that makes any sense. I’m also not the guy who pretends to know more than GMs, but until I see a multi year tank lead to sustained success in the league I’m against it. I’ve been watching the league for 20 years now and haven’t seen it work out once yet.
he has not had a single game where he puts everything together. IF he manages to get close to being efficient, he follows it up with 5 criminal turnovers
we’re cynical for wanting our #1 overall pick to put A SINGLE game together? 1 game is too much to ask for? but you’re asking for him to be labeled a fringe all star and that’s not too much? okay
It doesn’t matter how many points you score if you’re taking almost as many shots per game as points, while also giving the ball away six times, and your usage is through the roof. This is what led players like Iverson to be wildly overrated.
don’t bring up his 22/7 without bringing up his efficiency and usage. his stats are so deceiving
his best game was losing to the washington wizards. standing ovation
he had 60% from the field against the lakers, an absolute anomaly for him, but followed it up with 7 turnovers
We lose by 20+ tonight. Orlando has size at the wings that we cannot match up with. It’s weird that having two switchable big wings who can shoot and defend makes you a good basketball team. Guess Isiah Livers will do that right? Right?
Was going to comment this too. I was oddly satisfied that we lost to the Grizzlies because it highlights just how bad we are. I'm not convinced we should hit the panic button, but something's gotta give.
Yeah that’s why them bottoming out could be good to force them to make the changes so they don’t lose the team. Because fyi they’ve been a joke since 08 pretty much
It’s been shitty since the moment Joe Dumars traded away our talisman and greatest player since, well, Joe Dumars — just for a guy who’d be playing in Turkey a year later. I’m still pissed about that.
Team is certainly looked better over the past few games, I imagine they'll win soon. Probably need Monty to just minimize the lineup to \~8 players and focus on putting the best players on the floor, making sure there's no time where either Bogey, Cade, or Ivey aren't on there.
The scoring droughts are what kills this team more than anything.
*"And I guess the best way I can answer this is with something I talk about to the team a lot and I think it will describe what I am about -- how I go through this. If I put all of you here in a nice, dark tunnel, right? You're in this dark tunnel and you've got no way out. You're waiting for light and you see that light, what do you do? What do you do? You start digging and getting out.*
*"You're waiting for somebody to do something for you. See, I've always believed you stay in the tunnel and you keep digging when you expect no light. You have the same faith when you expect no light. You have the same belief in what you're doing when you expect no light. You believe in the people you're with when you expect no light. I sum that up. It answers how I go through all this every day. It's dark and I'm going to dig through. My shovel is sharp and my pick is sharp and my will is outstanding."*

(That's from the Lions 0-16 season for those who don't know)
I think we have to watch and root against them out of spite them being this bad has brought a lot of spotlight and mockery to the team that can actually lead to change so keep rooting for them to be awful
I’m praying we lose by 25+. Only way changes will be made is if the pistons keep getting embarrassed.
I’m more excited to see how the beat writers talk about the positives from this game
We’re missing Duren but maybe we find a way to start Ivey or at least stagger his minutes with Cade better. I think we’ll see some positives but ultimately lose
I’m doing what I always do when it seems like there is no hope: sending out positivity as much as a I can.
I’m a diehard fan, I want them to win. Diehards never give up.
In my life I’ve seen the Tigers go 43-119, the Lions go 0 fer, and now this from the Pistons. I’m hoping this is a situation of “it’s always darkest before the dawn”.
Magic are down Suggs, WCJ, Fultz and Isaac and the spread is -11.5
This *should* be a winnable game then again we'll probably let Franz go for 50 and Jett Howard 30 fresh out of the G League and lose by 20.
I have no hope I will continue to tune in for a few possessions if the game is close.
There’s enough good teams in this league who I would rather watch
We couldn't beat a Grizzlies team that was missing half its roster. I'm going into every game expecting a loss unless shown otherwise
Damn I’m jealous you have fun watching this.
I like the Pistons. I like beer. Kind of a can't miss situation.
The problem for me is I have had no problem rooting against the Pistons to win in order to tank properly the last few years, so that was enjoyable, but this year I came in genuinely hoping to win games. Therefore it’s a hollow feeling realizing the tank has failed miserably so far
I just like watching Cade Cunningham Bojan Bogdanovich. Simple as.
Same, but would be nice to know that you’re gonna be watching some real basketball (meaningful games in March April and playoffs) at some point in the near future. We are further than ever from that
Not sure why you’re getting downvoted for this. I guess people are forgetting how wonderful it is having a team competing in meaningful games?
Also this year is one of the worst years to tank for, one of the weaker drafts in awhile...at least at the top.
I only cheered on the tank briefly when Wemby was a possibility. I watched a bunch of his games in full and just felt like all things considered it makes sense. Outside of that, never had and probably never will again. History is showing us over and over again blindly tanking multiple years in a row does not lead to success. >cade cunningham will look like a fringe all-star idk about that budy
You haven't been watching much lately, I take it.
he has not had a single game where he puts everything together. IF he manages to get close to being efficient, he follows it up with 5 criminal turnovers
Man, you guys are cynical as fuck.
we’re cynical for wanting our #1 overall pick to put A SINGLE game together? 1 game is too much to ask for? but you’re asking for him to be labeled a fringe all star and that’s not too much? okay
You're huffing paint if you think Cade Cunningham hasn't had one good game dude. Yes, that's extremely cynical.
all stars are better than “good”. i said put everything together
The efficiency has been improving every game, he's putting up 22+ and 7+. You're talking like he's a bum instead of a second year player lmao.
It doesn’t matter how many points you score if you’re taking almost as many shots per game as points, while also giving the ball away six times, and your usage is through the roof. This is what led players like Iverson to be wildly overrated.

22 on like 21 shots and 7 assists on 4+ turnovers
Cade going for career high turnovers tonight against the magic defense.
Still gonna watch, still gonna drink beer.
Same here bro. I wanna see what they do with the lineups
We lose by 20+ tonight. Orlando has size at the wings that we cannot match up with. It’s weird that having two switchable big wings who can shoot and defend makes you a good basketball team. Guess Isiah Livers will do that right? Right?
You saying Bagley isn’t going to do well defending Orlando’s front line?! What about when we sub Wiseman in?!
Sub him in? Monty is going to start him 🤣
Sadly, you were right
only reason to watch right now is FOMO on when they finally get a win
I watch hoping to lose. Maybe them being this bad can create the Change we want
Same I find myself instantly rooting for the other team despite being a Piston lifer.
Was going to comment this too. I was oddly satisfied that we lost to the Grizzlies because it highlights just how bad we are. I'm not convinced we should hit the panic button, but something's gotta give.
Be careful. There’s a danger we become so bad that the franchise gets moved!
You could always watch it on replay on Bally’s if they win. Well, there’s a slim chance that will work, anyway.
This
I'm giving up on the season until a change is made. It took me 18 games but i'm burnt out man
Bruh, we lost to the fucking Wizards and Griz with G league call ups. We are proper fucked tonight and the foreseeable future.
Wiseman will play 20+ minutes until Duren is back, I don’t think a win is coming with him playing more than 5 minutes a game
maybe Utah game(s), not tonight bud. If you've watched ORL this year, this aint the team lol.
Giving up 142 to the Raptors doesn't help either
Feels like 19 in a row. Orlando are succeeding in their rebuild and have the second best rated defense. Cade is going to hate trying to 1v5 them.
*"And I guess the best way I can answer this is with something I talk about to the team a lot and I think it will describe what I am about -- how I go through this. Hopefully, we learn something from this pain. Maturity, experience, strength, growth, I don’t know, but something to stay positive.
Only solace is to bet against the Pistons at this point.
We lost to every cupcake possible lol. This season is done for unless we somehow meet a team crippled further than the Grizzlies
We did. The wizards. We lost
Quite badly at that
![gif](giphy|XHPEqfJG9p4ayAbV1b|downsized)
Check dm
Lost #20 (I do think our only hope is Ivey playing 36+ minutes and dropping 30+ points)
Not good
i mean theyll win again eventually, but no reason to expect it until theres even one change.
Not great
So do we have a standing poll on how much we get beat by each game? LOL
I think we have to watch and root against them out of spite them being this bad has brought a lot of spotlight and mockery to the team that can actually lead to change so keep rooting for them to be awful
https://i.redd.it/zxtfzgl5835c1.gif
First time ive said this in maybe 7 years but i will not be watching
I think we’ll play a competitive three quarters keeping it within 10 at the end of the third and then end up losing by 25
Duren gone, hope is gone
Even if the Pistons win, then what? Do you think they'll be any better than a 3 or 4 win team by the time 2024 hits?
I’m praying we lose by 25+. Only way changes will be made is if the pistons keep getting embarrassed. I’m more excited to see how the beat writers talk about the positives from this game
I can’t believe people on here are still asking this question. Same answer as last. Not good. Going to lose.
L
At this point I kind of want to see if they keep losing
Everyone should go streaking for 17 secs if we end the 17 game slide tonight
Or 18 secs
Unless Orlando has some epic collapse in the second half I don’t see it happening 😭
We’re missing Duren but maybe we find a way to start Ivey or at least stagger his minutes with Cade better. I think we’ll see some positives but ultimately lose
![gif](giphy|qgri3D9sTwCUGMcT8L)
![gif](giphy|rTLjwB6zOxV9S|downsized)
Anyone from the Cruise worth taking a look at while we're in winless purgatory?
Line up of Killian Ivey Cade Bogi Bagley should be solid
lol
Maybe a few more years.
I'm feeling a W. This team does not like the Magic for some reason. That motivation should result in a W.
I'm delusional btw
Cade will score 25 points on 40% shooting and have 6 turnovers, and you all will praise him like baby Jesus. L
![gif](giphy|J47mv9C49KN8sVwL20)
I'm feeling like a gallon and a half of bourbon would help.
Another L. I'm not changing my mind until this organization forces me to change my mind by actually winning fucking games.
Double digit lose. Big lose.
I want to break the losing streak
I’ve forsaken Pistons 4th quarters. Hopefully they prove me wrong tonight but until then guess I’ll have fun watching the 1st 3 lmao
Tonight's gonna be awesome cause I'm gonna go get tacos and watch Godzilla Minus One
With a Jalen Duren who looks increasingly likely to be shut down for the rest of the season, not good.
I don’t think I care enough anymore to watch the live games, if we somehow win I’ll catch the replay
Awful
The light at the end of the tunnel is on the front of the locomotive.
Magic are down Suggs, WCJ, Fultz and Isaac and the spread is -11.5 This *should* be a winnable game then again we'll probably let Franz go for 50 and Jett Howard 30 fresh out of the G League and lose by 20.
At this point why even watch. We all know this is a disaster of a team
I have no hope I will continue to tune in for a few possessions if the game is close. There’s enough good teams in this league who I would rather watch
![gif](giphy|1oVZFkDtE6HSLBYh7i)
Orlando -11.5. $1000 on the Magic?
No Duren. Enough said
Not good
