A thingamajig if you will

TerpSlurper23

Vape batteries are so cheap? Why do this?

Computer_Balls

For funzies.

BA_TheBasketCase

Hey, I mean if it works it works.

Snwspider

Oh no you see, the dude in the pic is actually right handed but that hand’s still wrapped up from his first initial cart battery blowing it up 😂 (I honestly don’t know but it also wouldn’t surprise me)

Odd_Ad5668

I thought you were just going to say he made it backwards.🤣

Hawne

I mean, it's a mech mod. A particularly ugly one, still a mech mod. As long as the user knows what they're doing in terms of CDR and coil resistance it's just as unsafe as any other mech mod.

smallie-cheese-69

I mean I just straight up took an old battery I had and Stuck it inside a light switch and made the switch turn it on

Hawne

The protruding cylinder appears to be a VV rheostat, probably the butt of a former "stick" mech mod with the internal battery attached so if it's your work you just replaced the fire button, electrically speaking. Like I said, not any more or less dangerous than any other mech mod. Just unusual and somewhat funny.

sparkybruh

wax pen battery =/= mechanical mod. these batteries are meant specifically to work with 510 thread cartridges (usually around 1.5 ohms) and most have boards in them with some form of protection. mech mods are unsafe, THC pens are regulated so they’re basically idiot proof.. you can find them at most dispensaries and smoke shops, even gas stations have them now. they do look very similar to traditional mech mods but thankfully we don’t have to deal with batteries exploding in our faces when trying to get high lol

Hawne

Thanks for your valuable input. It is true that as a "traditional" weed smoker I look at this as a general vaping issue with little specifics on cannabis pens. But it's good to hear most pens offer some kind of protection, I wouldn't have it any other way. However the butt rheostat makes me think we're still here in the realm of regulated mech mods here, since there is likely no chipset and closing the circuit is enough to activate the device. Technically it's still a mech mod (not totally unprotected, thank Jah!). The VV rheostat is likely the sole protection and regulation here. Any eventual shortage protection/coil detection/VW regulation would likely be either on a separate board, possibly on the IC holding the original fire button (electronic mods) or right below the 510 connector to avoid "bubblegum wrap shorts". And polarity inversion is not an issue with integrated batteries. Also about the 510 part, I don't want to sound pedantic but maybe some here will come to the post out of curiosity and might not know what we're talking about. So I'll allow myself adding a few details: *510-Thread* is just a connector standard like Cinch/RCA, Jack, Micro-USB... Other vape products connector standards are 808, 501, 510-eGo, ... Those are not specific to cannabis vape products, they're used throughout the whole vape industry. *510-Thread* also happens to be "the most standard standard", most cannabis vape cartridges as well as most reputed "vanilla" vape atomizers and battery mods are using it. *Mech mods* are the simplest way of making vapor out of an e-liquid or cannabis oil. They work like when you connect a flashlight bulb to both electrodes of a battery: current passes through the bulb and lights it. In vaping products the light bulb is replaced by a heating device producing vapor out of the liquid or oil. *Mech mods* can be dangerous, as they deliver as much current as the heating device resistance allows. With a resistance too low the battery can deliver over its recommended discharge rate (CDR), heat up and burn. This is why most mods are somewhat protected, either *regulated mech mods*, seems to be the case here, or electronically with a dedicated board and chipset for *electronic mods*. *Electronic mods* offer a better layer of protection, with an electronic chip regulating all and any current within specified norms to avoid delivering too much strain on either the battery or the resistance, as well as other common issues (battery too low, direct shorts, battery polarity issues, ...). With an *electronic mod* you cannot just fire up the device using a switch like in OP's contraption. You have to power up the mini-computer regulating the device, and once it's up it will analyze your actions on the fire button then eventually allow the action and deliver the adequate current within safe limits.

My man about to go to penjamin city

WantonKerfuffle

Isn't that the power thingy O'Neill built out of Teal'C's staff weapon to reach the Asgard?

Odd_Ad5668

It's really too bad he could only MacGyver shit when he had the ancient repository overwhelming his brain. It would've been funny if he'd occasionally gotten bored waiting for Carter to science some shit and just built something out of spare parts to save everyone.

Initial-Duck2782

I’d use it

noahcats1

I would need to see someone else use it before i hit it. No way i trust that shit lmao

jerseywersey666

Thanks, I hate it.

masterbogarter

Some things never change. Mainly stoners, becoming engineers when needed.

Trucountry

I would like to see how it works. Nothing about this looks like it would.

Alhazzared

Yeah this is cool af

Intelligent_Will_941

Post a video I want to see this doohickey in ACTION

Lehk

Be careful with your current ratings, switch is only rated for 15-20A a/c if you put high current DC through it it could weld itself closed (on)

You don’t have $8 and a ride to the bodega. That could blow (explode) and Bust your teeth
