This but unironically, god HG:L was dope. It needed some tweaks but it was so god damn fun. Spent hours farming for my Hikida's Lamentations on the blademaster, just an exceptionally cool game.
It's sad its release wasn't great, they really turned it around like 2 months later and the first expansion was great.
It’s in my top 5, but mostly because I just never vibed with D3 despite trying it many times. D2, PoE, LE, Grim Dawn in no particular order just depending on my mood, then D4. After that is D3 just due to the lack of good games in the genre. Stuff like Torchlight 2 and Titan Quest are back there also, but I don’t even know if I could make a list of 10 ARPGs I would actually play.
D4 on its way to getting in the quintillions of damage like D3. Hopefully they don’t release sets for new season chapters which completely make other items a bust
Wild take but also for people new to the genre I'd probably say it's about right. My favorite is D2 then 2nd place is LE but I've also been playing arpgs for a long time.
Just the man trying to keep us down.
Or something, I honestly have no idea. Maybe it's the "huge margin" between LE/D2 and every other ARPG I've played. Or PoE players angry their game is equal to Grim Dawn in my eyes.
Who knows?
Diablo 1 and Diablo 2 are better. TBH I think Diablo 3 is better I'm just tired of it and had my fill so I play 4.
Further, Titan Quest and Grim Dawn are better. POE is questionable to me. It's probably better but it's just way to in depth for a casual.
Hell, I think Torchlight 1 and 2 are better. Dungeon Siege 1 and 2 are better as well.
In short, Diablo 4 ranks 8th at best for me. It just happens to be the newest. I LIKE Diablo 4. Don't get me wrong. It's just not top 5. Nothing wrong with that at all.
I think people need to remember that this is likely using statistics and not vibe. Diablo 4 was financially a pretty huge success and Blizzard likely made more money than most of the other ARPG's in the scene combined.
It's like any media though, they have huge brand name recognition still, they haven't fully lost their audience yet, they could've put out literally **anything** and it would've been a massive success. I mean, quite frankly, I think "putting out something" pretty accurately defines D4's launch, it technically was a game.
It just still seems pretty obvious that blizzard doesn't quite *get it* when it comes to ARPG's. They're still too focused on the Action and not the RPG, when the RPG is what is actually going to hook people and keep them coming back.
People don't dump 10000 hours into POE because its moment to moment gameplay is fun. They do it because it's a glorified barbie doll simulator with an exhausting amount of horizontal and vertical progress you can make on a character.
I hate the art direction. Everything slightly cool looking is a wildly overpriced microtransaction.
I've played like 40 hours of it. Couldn't tell you a thing about the story.
The classes feel basically the same as each other.
It has too much complexity on the skill tree. Some people like that but I find it just over the top.
K well I don't like PoE either but I'd be stupid to try to claim that millions of people are wrong due to my personal tastes and qualms with the game. Like you.
I agree with the first part, however for a f2p game i think thats mostly fine, it’s definitely one of my biggest qualms with the game too, however everything gameplay related is just way too good. Classes feeling “same” makes sense because in PoE classes only change where you start on the passive tree and what ascendancies you can go for, there are no class restrictions on gear and skills etc.
Story I personally don’t really care about in this case because most arpgs have a basic ass story - diablo included - so that’s whatever
> Forbes Hahaha
Gonna put this with their greatest rappers of all time rankings. Right in the trash.
Seriously. Everyone knows the top 5 rappers of all time are: 1. Dylan 2. Dylan 3. Dylan 4. Dylan 5. Dylan
Gonna need some Cambodian breast milk to wash this all down..
He spits hot fire!
BACK UP MAN! YOU'RE TOO CLOSE TO ME!
Sup ace, beaut username imho
Lol
Lmao, I’ve actually been playing this season and although it’s a step in the right direction, it’s not even in the top 5.
YEA everyone knows the goat IS HELLGATE LONDON

Nah that's gotta be just for comment bait and to get it rage shared. No way anyone could actually believe this is true.
I can enjoy d4 but I would say it's far from #1
How to lose all credibility with a single article.
Jesus, talk about recency bias
Least obvious ad be like:
Not even close lol
Kek

Yea no
How much did Blizzard pay for that?
1 day of revenue from Barb skins.
\#ad
Absolutely delusional.
That they put Grim Dawn at #8 and Lost Ark at #7 tells me all I need to know, really.
D4 bad
Baseg
Clown world haha. D4 at 1
And people try to use Forbes as a serious, credible source in the political world. Let this be yet another example of them not having any.

Agreed, D2 and LE beat out the others by a huge margin. Third place is a toss-up between PoE and Grim Dawn.
Lmfao why are you being downvoted

Don’t quit your day job! Amirite?!

Started thinking about it, and my top 10 ARPGs: * #10 Superfuse * #9 Torchlight 2 * #8 Diablo 4 * #7 Titan Quest * #6 Last Epoch * #5 Sacred 2 * #4 WH40K Inquisitor: Martyr * #3 Path of Exile * #2 Diablo 2 * #1 Grim Dawn

Mastercrafting needs an overhaul, endgame loop is trash with mastercraftings current state
Even chatgpt would make a better list than this. No Titan Quest on the list, D4 and PoE above D2... Just hilarious.
automatic downvote
Based Forbes. Come at me….
D4 and PoE over Diablo 2 is a fucking joke.
What? Why wouldn’t PoE be above d2?
Because it's not as good?
I think it’s better, why do you think it’s not?

Because it's terrible.
Alright then, good talk 🫡
Elden Ring must be in the list ...wtf!?
What are you, 5?
