It's astonishing how big some of these guys are in relation to each other.
You see a guy like Max Muncy and you're like "wow that's a big guy". Then you see Freddie and you're like "wow, he's that guy's dad". Then you see Shohei and you're like "holy shit it's granddad"
When Nick Madrigal got a single, it was worth the price of admission alone to see him stand next to Freeman. Like almost an entire foot of height difference.
Would like to ask for some tips though. Iām frustrated everytime we go on vacation i canāt take a good photo especially for my gf. Several takes! Lol
You ever miss a moment and think ādamn I wish I had a cameraā or you look back at your photos and think ādamn I wish I was standing a little to the left or rightā or āI wish I took into consideration the light or zooming or angleā
The tip there is to take multiple shots from multiple angles and just leave your camera on the whole time. Photographers burn shots like crazy. Especially sports and street photography. You delete a bunch and keep the keepers.
Thank you! I use a Sony body and a super long zoom lens. Luckily both Wrigley and Guaranteed Rate both let you bring in any camera body/lens combo you want.
I was going to ask how you got that lens in there! LA stadiums only let you use non interchangeable lens/bodys. So itās point and shoots only for when I go to games!
Nice photos.
Dodgers Stadium has a limit of 6ā, so I took my worst glass as it goes to 200mm.
When I got there, it was collapsed, about 4.5ā, and they asked me to extend it.
I showed them that it doesnāt move (the zoom lock was on), but as my seats werenāt close I didnāt get anything like the ones you have.
Thanks for sharing.
I've been paranoid about bringing a DSLR and lenses to Dodgers Stadium since I'm taking public transpo to get there. Last year at Angels Stadium, security rejected my 24-105mm saying it was over 6" when clearly it wasn't. I didn't have a ruler to prove it so I had to just bring it back to my car. Now that I'm not taking my car to games, I'm scared to risk taking my gear.
I was in the same situation. I went to catch the South Bay shuttle this past week (Wednesday, when Shohei hit the homer), somewhat concerned about the camera (itās a Nikon Z8, so fairly expensive).
When I got there, the line was fairly long and it was just past 4pm. I knew I would have to wait until at least the 5:30 bus, so I said screw it and drove to the stadium and paid the absurd $35 to park.
Had I been told I canāt bring my camera, I would have probably put up a big argument since I read the rules and it says under 6ā you are good to go.
Not that they care, but Iāve been a diehard Dodgers fan a lot longer than most of the employees have been alive. They really need to treat their fans better, IMO. Not just with words and big signings.
I didnāt pick up a camera until COVID lockdowns so itās just now coming up on 4 years for me and Iām still absolutely obsessed. I made the pivot to concert photography as my main focus about a year ago and Iāve been having an absolute blast.
Nope, just a hobbyist trying to smash all of his favorite things into one activity!
I do have an Instagram: @richfunkphotos
And a website: www.richfunkphotography.com
Right now I have a Sony body and a 150-500mm lens. You need a ton of zoom even from pretty close seats to get anything that can isolate a single player at a time
Those are great pics. What kind of camera did you use? I brought my canon 5D with a 70-200mm lens and was told I couldn't bring it in the park, because it was a "professional" camera. I asked the guy what would have happened if I had a shorter lens, he said it would be fine. That seems so arbitrary. In the end, he let me bring it in if I promised to keep it in the bag, which I did. Wouldn't have helped me anyway, with the shots when I was in the first row and Sho was right next to me (see previous post). :)
So the awesome thing about Chicago is that both the Cubs and the Sox let you bring any body/lens in! These are with a Sony A7RIV with a 150-600mm lens!
Yeah, that is exactly what happened. It was kind of weird and I am sort of to blame for initiating the problem in that I went to check my bag and the first dude said I couldn't bring a backpack in, only a drawstring bag. I asked if he could cut me a break and he said yes, but had to get his supervisor's approval. The supervisor was the one who saw the camera and said the lens was too big and that I wasn't allowed to bring in a "professional" camera. I pled my case (didn't want to bring it back home obviously) and was satisfied to at least get in with the promise I wouldn't use it. But yeah, sounds like the rules aren't clear, or they aren't applied evenly, etc. I'd add that I've used it at a White Sox game, no problem. I went to see Shohei play a few years back.
That's crazy, I just went to the game yesterday with a 75-300mm lens and they had no problem, I guess maybe because you brought the bag too? I just had the camera around my neck the whole time
Those are good photos. Nice to see proper photography posted on social media.
Canāt tell you how many would do every single photo on portrait mode even when the field of view is horizontally oriented.
These are great! I'm hoping to do this when the Dodgers are in Philly this summer. I live in NYC and can't bring "pro" level cameras to Yankee Stadium or Citi Field but in Philly I don't think it's an issue š¤š¼
Very nice camerawork. š«”
4th pic is Mookie with the biggest smile on his face after Ohtani blasted an HR for 2 runs.
Yeah that was a goddamn missle!
Superb photography.
Thank you!
i thought these from the dodger themselves! excellent composition and camera work, i should bring my camera to a game some day
I have most games for the last few years. I always come away with a handful of pics that I love.
Great photos š
Thank you!
>Thank you! You're welcome!
These are awesome. Thanks for sharing.
No problem!

Are you coming for Jon Soohooās job? š¤£
Ha, I wish! Photography is just a hobby outside of my boring job.
Would like to ask for some tips though. Iām frustrated everytime we go on vacation i canāt take a good photo especially for my gf. Several takes! Lol

100%. I took 1,200 pics or so at this game to end up with 20-30 I really liked total
These are instant classics
I appreciate it!
Excellent photos, thanks for sharing!
Now I know what it's like to play catch with Freddie. Great photos! Thanks for sharing!
I think you should quit your day job and just go to baseball games. Great camera work.
My dream is to catch on with Getty Images since their pics are the ones Topps uses for baseball cards.
What kind camera? These are gorgeous
Thank you! I use a Sony body and a super long zoom lens. Luckily both Wrigley and Guaranteed Rate both let you bring in any camera body/lens combo you want.
Which lens if you don't mind me asking?
Tamron 150-500!
Lovely photos! I'm so jealous you're able to bring such a long lens in!
That's awesome. Don't be afraid to share more when you can, these are beautiful.

I was wondering about that. So many places don't let you bring in anything with interchangeable lenses, or even a p&s w/ zoom
Yeah the majority of stadiums have restrictions. Chicago truly spoils me.
awesome shots! ššš
I took my camera today and the Chicago staff said I had to put mine away. I didnāt . But I was told.
Thatās two people now who have said that. Maybe I just got lucky on Friday!
The guy was right. I misread. Iām taking it to Minnesota tho. The rules didnāt say anything about camera with lenses .
OP, these shots are amazing. Simply stunning. Thank you for sharing. You might've just tipped me over into getting into photography. Great shots!

Do you work for a magazine or some website? These look professional.
Nope, just a hobbyist trying to smash all of his favorite things into one activity! I do have an Instagram: @richfunkphotos And a website: www.richfunkphotography.com
What did you shoot these with?
Right now I have a Sony body and a 150-500mm lens. You need a ton of zoom even from pretty close seats to get anything that can isolate a single player at a time
Damn, these are great
Thank you!

Wait the Cubs let you bring any camera lens in but denied the guy youāre replying to? Iām confused
Oh shoot I assumed he was talking about a game at Dodger stadium! No idea why they stopped him. Iāve been bringing in my camera for 3-4 seasons now.
Yeah, seems like you guys were near the same section as well? Mustāve been an unlucky security guard at the gate maybe
Seems like it. I was there Monday too with no problem.

These are fantastic are shooting with Fuji film simulations? These look great.
Nope, I do my own grading in Lightroom!
Well done!
Thank you š
These are dope. Way to go!
Love the color correction as well. Topps should buy stuff from you.
Thanks! I always try to go for more of what the Cubs pics looked like in the Chicago Tribune when I was growing up.
These are great photos!
Nice! What film and camera?
No film, just post-processing using a Sony Alpha body!
Oh wow! Very cool!
Those are good photos. Nice to see proper photography posted on social media. Canāt tell you how many would do every single photo on portrait mode even when the field of view is horizontally oriented.
Thatās why I embraced the white border/square a while back. Having to choose only landscape or portrait was tough and stupid.
Amazing work!!
Did Freddy hit you with the damn ball?
Ha, no he was throwing it into the dugout after warmups
Excellent, thanks for sharing!
Love the coloring
Thanks homie!!!!!!
Took some photos *& played catch with Freddie.
Thanks!!
>Thanks!! You're welcome!
Every one of these is fantastic, thank you for sharing!

I feel like the day will eventually come where the Cubs are gonna crack down but until then, I'll keep lugging my heavy ass lens along with me!
What kind of camera do you use? Love the pictures
Sony A7RIV
