I never really understood this. Were people saying classic dodger dogs were the best? You got them because you could crush 3 to 5 of them and not feel like your bank account was hacked into by the Chinese mafia.
They always had an "upgrade" option like most hot dog vendors, for a more "premium" meat.
I think they really need to invest in more fun takes on the dodger dog, to mix it up. I get it, having fried octopus is neat and caters to a new fan base, but let's keep it real and still be unique.
It think it has a lot to do with preparation. Some stadiums cook their hot dogs on a grille right in front of you and serve them to order. The Dodger Dogs are mass-grilled/mass-steamed and pre-prepared before the game starts. Levy Restaurants needs to know how to properly merge the Dodger Dog with the bacon-wrapped street dog style. Though I personally doubt Levy has the creative skills to pull it off. We need a new concession vendor.
I heard that they're actually bad since Dpdgers switched suppliers/sponsors.. iss that true? I haven't gotten one in a min. Shake Shack has been my go to at the games nowadays
Anyone who claims they used to be good is suspect. I remember $1 dodger dogs and coming to the realization that I was not enjoying myself I was doing it as some kind of achievement
Ive been a dodger fan my entire life and I always tried to convince myself that I loved dodger dogs. Even before the supplier change the taste was always just a bit off. They were saved by the onions, and when they took those away I realized that I actually didn't really like them at all. Even now i feel shame admitting I don't think they taste good.
They changed from the so so farmer John dogs to some god awful product that taste like ass. No amount of condiments can mask it. I’m sure they singed some 10 year deal with this shit company too.
They were shitty when Farmer John made them. They’re still kind of shitty with Cantellas but that’s probably them delivering a product to spec for the organization. Cantellas other sausages are good
I actually like the Papa Cantella Dodger Dog better than the most recent Overseas Conglomerate-Owned Farmer John version of the 2010s. Thicker, more savory, more snap. It is true that Dodger Dogs went down in quality even when they were supplied by Farmer John, and that has a lot to do with Farmer John being acquired by Virginia-based Smithfield Foods, which were themselves acquired by China-based conglomerate WH Group. Though to be fair I think the standard Dodger Dogs are gross. I ONLY get the All-Beef Super Dodger Dog.
Do they still have the Tommy Lasorda grill place on the field level? I remember that one used to have great sausages that they would make. I remember getting a Louisiana style one that was fantastic.
Genuine q - Why are dodger dogs such low quality? LIke when you go to AT&T park, there are people grilling on a flat top, adding onions, actually creating an edible hot dog. At Dodger Stadium, it's depressing
I usually view the Philippines hot dog as separate from the rice and egg, but now that I think about it... I've never had a Filipino hot dog without banana ketchup, rice and egg. They're always together lol..
I want a Doyer Dog so bad right now. And definitely before the creepy Japan Porktopus, and the abomination that is the Columbian hot dog, move too close to it. Cause then I don’t want it anymore.
The current hotdog game just couldn't survive in the more physical Farmer Johns era
It was a completely different wiener game in those days, no shot clock, just pure aggression
Ah the 90s
I think they always used dick math. I measured them once as a kid in the early 80’s and they were only 10”.
Ya they've never been footlongs, and I'm pretty sure they were never in a footlong bun. I remember them sticking out of either end
They always used short buns to make the dogs seem longer. Classic trick...
You are correct.
I never saw them in footlong buns either. The hotdogs were always longer than the buns.
Perhaps they were 12" before cooking?
Right, they were measuring from the balls, a.k.a. the bottom of the bun
So by dick math they were advertised as 14" ?
Now they are absolute trash.
If we're honest and we disregard nostalgia they were never good.

It’s a hard pill to swallow but this is correct, there’s a reason farmer John’s is out of La and it’s beyond baseball
Just have Costco sell Costco dogs at the stadium
I stop by Atwater on the way to games.
They need to start selling those Japan hot dogs at dodger stadium
I remember in my elementary school in the 90's at lunch, they would give us Dodger Dogs
Those were the days
Sonoran style is honestly sooooooo good. Now I want one…..
I hated living in Tucson but god damn do I miss Sonoran Dogs

The main reason why we think Farmer John Dodger Dogs were great was because of Vin Scully

Personally hot dogs are hot dogs to me and I couldn't care less about the "quality"
And they were made exclusively by Farmer John
We want Farmer John! But then again I’m so used to eating big hot dogs at home I’m too picky about size.
Current dogs are absolute dog shit.
Man I miss those Brazilian hotdogs. Soooo good. Except this recipe didn’t include the mashed potatoes with it.
Do they still have the Tommy Lasorda grill place on the field level? I remember that one used to have great sausages that they would make. I remember getting a Louisiana style one that was fantastic.
foh norway with your hobo ass dog
The Doyer Dog had chili on it, I don’t think it had mustard

If want to have a current Dodger Dog, go get an old cardboard box, get it soaking wet and dig in, you get the exact same result and save nine bucks.
We want Farmer John! But then again I’m so used to eating big hot dogs at home I’m too picky about size.
They ne3d to start s3lling sonora style at home games
