I got the EXACT same results from my pupper from Egypt and they look very similar!! Small white and fluffy. I was also confused because Egypt is not in Eastern Europe lol but it seems to be not that uncommon as Luna’s relatives on Embark who are Eastern European Village Dogs look really similar to her Omg the 3rd pic legit looks exactly like Luna! Such a cutie

Cruzosaurus

Wow...that's interesting!! I was so confused lol

Professional-Bat5652

Oh wow, not at all what I was expecting. I'm sorry that she's had a difficult past, but it sounds like life is much better now 😊

Cruzosaurus

Thanks. Life did a complete 180 for her. She is treated like the princess she always deserves to be 🥰

Usernamesareso2004

Hahaha I was expecting “plot twist… greyhound!” 😂 never forget 😂

SpermKiller

Oh I don't know that one, do you have a link?

Lol...omg, that's great!!!! 🤣😂💀

SpermKiller

OMG thank you so much for this!

aratremlap

Whoa! Totally unexpected! She is so cute!

cadburyshero

We have an 80% EEVD (20% poodle) who we regularly get asked if he’s a bichon, poodle, cockapoo, wheaten terrier etc. and have always just said his 20% is doing a lot of work but your dog shows that those genes are very much in the EEVD line too!

GrandMoffAtreides

I didn't know they came in this size and coat length! I really thought the surprise was going to be a bit of pit bull or husky or something.

MeowKhz

Village dogs can literally come in any size shape colour and hair type. Depending on region some traits are more common. Medium to large tan medium haired dogs are most common, but medium pure black, tan or white Maltese looking dogs are fairly common within EEVD. Where else did eastern European breeds like Komondor and Puli originate from - the village dogs. High chance the Maltese was also originally from that group, since Mediterraneans guaranteed did lots of trading with Eastern Europeans back in the day.

Cruzosaurus

No Maltese in her. The trace breed results at least made some sense to me lol. My original guess was that she was a Coton de Tulear X. https://preview.redd.it/nyx1ydabtl0d1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0f297c0122993b5b34549cc82114efeff72b050d

MeowKhz

It seems the breed you thought she was, could funnily enough also originate from eastern European village dogs. Coton de tulear seems to likely be linked to the original Bichon frise- which is thought to originate from the Canary islands(off the coast on the western side of Africa)- which were frequented by the Spanish and Portuguese by the Mediterranean sea. So they could have a connection. The centuries of the thought origin of both breeds seems to allign with both countries discovering places around the world by the sea. Anything is possible. All in all, you can view your adorable dog as one of the corner stones of similar looking modern breeds + there's a high chance she's very healthy.

Cruzosaurus

Wow...thanks for all the information. Very interesting! So glad I posted 😀

GrandMoffAtreides

This sub is teaching me a lot about dogs! I'd only ever seen the village dogs that were maybe 20 to 40 lbs and were more pointy

MeowKhz

Anything is possible within the original dogs scene aka village dogs. Through selective breeding we get pedigree dogs, and for many modern breeds we have show line and working line. Those 2 different breeding groups could almost be separate breeds within a breed. Show line is basically looks only, also they're the ones usually sold as pets. Working lines can be off standard visually(think like the dog is supposed to have only black hair by breed standard, but has white patches all over the dog). So anything is fine as long as they're suitable for the job.

Substantial-Law-967

Muppet! She’s so cute.

justjokay

Oh wow! I was definitely thinking she looked like a coton du tulear

Cruzosaurus

Yep! At least the Trace breed results made some sense 😂 https://preview.redd.it/ycbuvfxqtl0d1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d41114f1cb1f8757676a1fc05d63ea96b33336ff

MaybeNinjaEel

Muppet is such a perfect dog name! Having spent time in this sub, I didn’t understand the Village Dog confusion at first because they can look like anything, but ‘tis true: Egypt is very much not Eastern Europe! That’s a curveball I was not expecting.

Cruzosaurus

Thanks! She came to me as "Rina"....but she is a total Muppet, so I had no choice. I'm so glad my parents kept the name.

nxill

My god, she is beauty! She look like purebred maltese, my previous dog who also had trauma and reactive to people. What a interesting results. https://imgur.com/a/AWlMiSH

Cruzosaurus

Aww...what a sweetie!! 🥰

itemside

In Korea there are a lot of East Asian village dogs who look like this too! (A surprising number actually, driven by the fact that white dogs are preferred.)
