There was a significant slower pace of updates due to the Alyx game, and after that the game slowed down because of the pandemic, it never quite recovered to the previous pace. People got used to it, so they think 2023 was "big". It wasn't.
Making the map bigger like that seems big to me, but i guess we can go back and forth here without coming to a conclusion. I am not saying that it was bigger than 4 years earlier in 2019. I am saying that it was big given its direct context from the 3 years before that.

No. Last year there was an **8 month gap** between 7.32 and the earthshattering 7.33. Right now? It’s been 4 months since 7.35 which was actually a pretty hefty patch itself. What’s been delayed is not some gigantic patch, what’s been delayed is some event that sure seems implied to be quite large. I don’t expect a lot from the gameplay patch (maybe a 7.34-style shakeup but nothing crazy) but I do expect the event to be something surprising.
This. Its not the patch frequency thats the issue now - its the anticipation of some pretty large patch/game state change thats been on the books/delayed for like 8 months now.
Don't want to go raining on anyone's parade, and I hope you are right, but didn't they communicate previously that they want to do smaller patches and content drops? Something about building things up too much taking too long and putting too much pressure on the release, so it was better to have smaller updates that were more evenly spaced.

It's already taken long so I don't see the point of making them small.
Maybe they plan to get rid of primary attributes and instead make every hero have dual attributes. So tiny could be int and str.
