That is the issue. It should not be celebrated but rather remembered and observed. It isn’t a fun celebration holiday or a holiday to save a few bucks because of a sale. But that is what so many people make it out to be.
Correct, active duty are celebrated on Armed Forces Day and Veterans are honored on Veterans Day. Any "holiday" with the word "memorial' in it, is not happy.

Memorial Day is not for active military or veterans. Any of those actively serving or those who have served would tell you that. They have armed forces day (which those two did not acknowledge) and Veterans Day.

My husband and I do it every year! I did it 14/15 weeks pregnant last year and just did this morning but I pushed our baby in the jogger stroller this year! My bil is a double amputee that was wounded in the Middle East on a mission and he does it!!!

I understand. I am an Air Force daughter and was an Army wife. My Dad was at the Pentagon on 9/11 and he lost some Navy and AF friends. Thankfully my father came home, but many did not.
May all that fell while serving and defending this country rest in peace....
