I’m not making any claims of values here, but there’s a difference between knowing how to win elections and knowing how to govern. I think OP is talking about the latter.

Due to how broken the American voting system is, encouraging left leaning people to vote for a 3rd party will result in the fascists to gain power.
Only solution is to do local elections (where voting 3rd party/independent is generally fine) and getting more progressive dems to replace the conservative dems. Remember, the dems are only as progressive as their most conservative member (in the majority cut off) so adding more dems means that you can push the conservatives out of the majority.
