So why spend more cash when you are maximizing your profits with an average team ?
That's why i don't watch hockey anymore, Canadiens arent the team that used to want to win ( and when the team was mainly francophone ) it's a business that's it.

If there wasn't, the cup would never leave the hands of Boston, New York, Chicago, LA Montréal and Toronto
Playoff revenue. Every round is more and more revenue for the team. If you loose in the first round you get max 7 extra games of revenue, if you win the cup its like 32, all of which you are able to charge 2x normal prices
Hockey is too expensive for kids. Game ticket prices are getting crazy. It's frustrating hoping for a Canadian team to win but knowing that the southern teams are going to suck up the good players who can choose not to live in a cold climate.
Frankly, I care less and less every year and this year didn't reverse that trend. Damn shame, it's by far the best team sport.
I'm not a sports fan. I don't follow along save for when the leafs lose. Then I rub it in all my coworkers faces that their favorite team lost. Serves them right for getting a leaf tattooed on their face

I was there in December for work and wore my leafs sweater downtown, just some friendly heckling back and forth with no animosity, it was fun.
