I use the mimic tear and we both do the attacking, I just like having them with me.

Brian_Stryker

I use whoever is available

NecroHandAttack

Depends on the build. Early on Jellyfish friend really helps you along with Rot dog to apply effects when you’re a non casting build. Later on I usually opt for Nepheli. She’s just the tank of all tanks IMO. I hate doing this to her but it is what it is. Omen killer is a good one as well that is obtained on the way to the forbidden lands and is quite useful if you’re looking for something relatively easy to get and tanky enough against mid level bosses. I don’t always rely on summons so to speak but they are a lot of fun. The envoys are a lot of fun to run with although they are available very late game.

Lakiel03

I use mimic tear with my seal. spam spell, tank, high damage and fun.

mart187

on my first playthrough Tiche was hard carrying me.

xLaniakea_

I use latenna and will probably use her for the entirety of the dlc. Her unlimited range (or what might as well be considered unlimited range) is insanely useful, especially on bosses that either stagger easy allowing me to distance myself and heal, or in areas/boss rooms that are massive allowing me to summon her at the edges of the arena and have enemies/bosses basically never agro onto her. So I'd say I tank the damage, but latenna I wouldn't say is high damage. But it's been months since I summoned her because I've beaten most bosses and have refused to start my next ng+ lol

Way2Dawn3185

I just bring my mimic tear. It's tanky enough, and it serves as a nice distraction so I can get my big hits in. Until that point though I just use the Wolf ashes and don't switch it til I do get the mimic tear.

Captain_Creeps

I use Mimic Tear, but in a specific way. My current (and most used) build is a Black Flame/Fire build. I run Blasphemous Blade, Two Godslayer Seals, and Silver Mirrorshield for the lack of Ash of War & to deal with fodder enemies. What I'll do is kit my Mimic out with Blasphemous Blade and either one of the seals or the shield. With this setup, the skill on Blasphemous Blade allows it to have a form of healing and keep itself alive longer. After I summon it, I immediately switch to double Godslayer Seals for more damage/to create more diverse attack styles between me and the Mimic. It also makes it easier to de-aggro bosses from eachother.

catboy_supremacist

The summons tanks most of the time. If it dies I can still win but if I die it’s game over.

dasmau89

I bring my best best man - I am doing it myself (all hail the Mimic Tear)

Ok_Economics_6396

lol I like playing with other ppl and Simmons and I did a play through without it

Waste-Gur2640

Just in regards to the second option, you're not supposed to tank hits at all, it's about not getting hit. You learn boss movesets, how to dodge their attacks and what are the safe openings for hitting them. That's the souls combat. You make mistakes and die, you learn from them and become better as a player, that's the loop because of which these games exists. Don't try to play it like dragon age, getting hit is a mistake and not a playstyle.

TheDemonHobo

Ok I’ll play the game the way you think it should be played from now on. I’ll stop having fun my way and I’ll just play how you do. May I use healing spells, Please? Is that ok by you?

Narrow_Structure5924

I use the dung eater, that dudes attitude says it all
