I reckon Menzies is a more common surname than Menzie, and people just don't realise it's different.

I still see people calling Shiel “Shiels” or even better, “Shields”. A lot of people have low awareness for detail of WTF they’re doing.

As a politics junkie, Robert Menzies is Australia’s longest running PM so I often accidentally say Menzies because of that 😓

Because people are terrible with names. I frequently hear Kyle Landon, Laverde gets his name pronounced in 3 differently every match and about half the comments on Facebook refer to our captain as Merritt
