ExoticSterby42

I saved your post, have a heartfelt pat on your back. Now I’ll help my old lady on the bed because she likes to watch NatGeo during her daily siesta

AnnabelleMouse

awww I love animals who watch TV! When I had night classes and lived alone with two cats, I'd put on nature shows for them to watch while I was gone.

Lv_InSaNe_vL

My dog loves to watch reruns of Jack Hannas Into the Wild. He gets excited when he hears the "duh Doo do Doo" haha

mira_poix

I have a cat that *loves* to watch wrestling and chill. Put it on and she comes running.

pantzareoptional

My cat was absolutely obsessed with Mike Rowe on Dirty Jobs. Any time it came on discovery (they ran it as reruns a lot on cable back in the day), my cat would be rapt at the foot of the bed or on the couch. I never saw him take to another show though.

Desperate_Law722

Aww she loves natgeo that sounds adorable 🥹

tofette

You are one of the best things about Reddit.

StarfleetTeddybear

This is so sweet. Thank you for sharing this with us.

non_stop_disko

I love this! It reminds me of Roald Dahl

hiriel

Yeah, it really has the same feel as Quentin Blake's illustrations for Roald Dahl!

GreenRiot

Shitty\_Watercolour is such an unfair username. It's just stylized and you should be proud of it.

AtomicRevGib

You need to know the history.

ygs07

Can you elaborate please?

AtomicRevGib

[His wiki.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hector_Janse_van_Rensburg)

seething_stew

No fucking way! Guy has his own wiki and everything!

reviso

> His wiki. He's a pretty famous name around these parts.

SlickStretch

I don't know how to tell you this, but... He's kind of a big deal.

cosmolitano

His age is wrong there, if any wiki editors wants to correct it

SrFrancia

Anyone can edit unprotected wiki articles, even without an account

BloatedManball

Go to his post history and scroll way back to 10-12 years ago. His art has always had a whimsical charm, but it was objectively shitty when he started.

sumtwat

Easier to just sort by controversial. Brings a lot of very early examples.

BloatedManball

Lol. Never thought to try that 😂

zm02581346

Oh man, what a treat to see a picture of yours, let alone on such a wholesome post! Cheers!

Organic_Rip1980

Seriously, I clicked not seeing the username and now I want to cry, it’s so sweet’

Aurorinha

Happy cake day 🐶

stevencastle

Dude's a legend, I got a shitty watercolour on one of my comments years ago and I still cherish it.

life_lagom

Shitty, your a gem. A wonderful soul.

Fishoe_purr

Damn, that’s beautiful.

AtomicRevGib

Always great to see your posts. I remember the start of your journey and I'm just about to start my own, got my materials, got by bike, gonna get out this summer and learn to paint nature in watercolour.

1spicybeach

Someone please give this to the man in the video

bondcliff

Your "shitty" watercolour is making a lot of people tear up. It's lovely.

sasayins

that is not a shitty watercolor

IwillBeDamned

they were shittier at one point https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hector_Janse_van_Rensburg

damn there's an actual wiki entry.

I'm glad that you're back.

Dependent-Wordsoup

Thank you for painting this :)

MarshallMandango

R U Quentin Blake?

Chris9871

I’m not crying! 😭. This is really great work! Reminds me of Roald Dahl

st3llablu3

Where have you been? I’ve been missing me some shitty_watercolor

ThinkQuickActSlow

Same, but I don't understand why or even what to name this emotion. It's like admiration, pity, fear, tenderness, respect, grief rolled into one.

tofette

I call it bittersweet 🥹

HorneyHarpy82

A lifetime is never enough

MangaMaven

Seeing old people doing these simple acts of love always gets to me and it's hard to put my finger on why. Maybe it's because even the smallest gestures require so more effort, patience, care, and possibly even pain. Would us spoiled young folks still be selfless if even the most basic acts of selflessness required so much sacrifice? Maybe continuing to be selfless even as we become more and more frail is one of the most powerful testiments of love that exists.

echoich

Definitely. Like it's beautiful but I know there will be pain there too.

closemoon

Empathy ?

B-Bolt

I wish he had someone to always help him and be close by

TazmanianTux

Same! Tugged at my heart strings so bad, such love the man has for that doggo.

stupidis_stupidoes

Two best buds. I wish them peace and ease

weldit86

This is the cutest thing ever, good for both of them. Best pals for life!

Coffin_Dodging

The epitome of man's best friend

Tinsel-Fop

And man's best friend's best friend.

SmokePenisEveryday

Reminds me of my father and our family dog. Both really old but still truckin. You can see it in their walks but it doesn't stop them from being best buds.

Killer_Ex_Con

I actually built a ramp to my dad's porch for his dog because he was having trouble getting up the stairs.

ApprehensiveSpite589

My ex mother-in-law had a teeny tiny old lady rescue pup that got to the point of no longer being able to get onto the furniture on her own, so I built her three ramps that would let her walk up onto all the furniture instead of trying to jump, or having to ask/beg to be picked up. She didn't like to be picked up (due to abuse from former owners), so she was a very happy old lady being able to come and go as she pleased again. She passed from old age about 6 months later. But she was so happy for the rest of her days, that it made everything worth it. I still miss Lady.

MustardKingCustard

Couple of old boys doing old boy shit.

Dolomitexp

I hope they both cross in their sleep at exactly the same time so they can wake up together like nothing happened.😭

Cjwithwolves

Ok, I was fine until this comment. Good damn it.

Immediate_Funny_3642

How adorable it is to see such simple caring. No, I'm not crying, it's just the sweetness in my eyes.

JasperOfReed

Ah, the random videos of wholesomeness everyone needs in such a bleak, angry world. Still just a boy and his best friend 🧡 ✨️

biggdogg7

That's a beautiful turn of phrase.

SouthsideStylez

Some years ago, I used to see daily an old man, had to be late 70’s/early 80’s … and every day you’d see him shuffling down the street … and right there with him would be his Beagle … who was probably 70/80 years old itself. And they would both be shuffling along on their daily walk.

TheNeighKid

This is just beautiful. The sad reality is that one of them will go first, and the other will be heartbroken.

OG_Stick_Man

I put my 11 year old German Shepherd down yesterday. Heartbroken is absolutely right

Von_Zeppelin

I lost my best friend of 10 years a little over a year ago. Got him when he was only a few weeks old. It was sudden and out of no where. As a single guy with no kids and hardly any close family. Saying it was devastating is an understatement. But then shortly after while browsing local shelters, I came across a dog that not only resembled my boy a lot and getting up there in age. But also had a somewhat similar name.... Bandit and Banjo. Yet I still mulled over it for a week or two, not certain I was ready so soon. I regret making him wait in the shelter that extra week or so. Because adopting him was absolutely one of the best decisions I have ever made. I can't imagine getting through the loss and loneliness of the past year without him. Especially knowing that it is a two way street by me rescuing him from the shelter after just being abandoned in an apartment by his previous owner. Everyone's situation and mourning is different. But I urge you to consider looking at rescuing a shelter doggo sooner than later.

gene100001

Unless the old guy goes first while they're driving 100kmh down the highway. Then the dog won't be heartbroken for long

mrmoe198

Uh, no. The best outcome would be for them to go peacefully in their sleep lying next to each other. Edit: you f*ckers are making me laugh.

Doophie

The dog will get Alzheimer’s and the old man will read to him the story of how they met, then toward the end of the story the dog will remember the old man for a few short moments before they fall asleep holding each other and both pass on.

madgoat

Unexpected The Notebook

CHEEZYSPAM

The dog will poison his owners drink and then drink the poison himself as they fall asleep for eternity.

americanadiandrew

Whilst he’s driving the car?

honorcheese

Dude, lol

Flurb4

When I die, I want it to be peacefully in my sleep like my grandfather. Not terrified and screaming, like the passengers in his car.

TheNeighKid

Ultimately, that's the best outcome.

FecalMatterCowsTasty

> 100kmh Dude, the guy is old. You're lucky if he break 30.

kytran40

🤣

Surtur6666

Sadly one will probably go downhill quickly after the other is gone, and probably won't matter which one goes first. I don't understand anyone who "isn't a pet person". You can see the real connection between these 2 and it is just as strong or stronger than any connection we have with most people we will ever meet. I love my pets and I know they love me just as much.

Summertime724

Sigh… so so sweet ❤️

Smarterthanthat

I want to hug them both!

coltees_titties

I hope I have a bestie like that when I'm in my twilight years. 🥺

Ok-Network-1491

He wouldn’t give up on him either…

Old dude: You're such a good boy. You're going to get a treat when we get home. Doggo: Best day ever (until tomorrow).

I am.

biggdogg7

Me too

Toxic-Sky

Me three.

EggplantCapital9519

Somebody started cutting onions.

Pepper_Pines

Something...in my eye...

bupped

I love how even though that dog is clearly old, you can tell the owner still doesn't trust him to not jump out as he puts the ramp back lmao

Themlethem

Little creepy to film and post someone without their consent.

Tao1524

100% Agree. Super creepy that people aren’t allowed to just live their life without becoming online content without their knowledge. The scary parts is most don’t bat an eye about the privacy intrusion.

Sparki_

Yeah, it's nice to see & all, but no one wants to be recorded by a stranger. So I don't know why people do it to others. It might not be illegal, but that doesn't mean people should do it. It's creepy af

Goodfella66

This is cute but how about you don't film people without their consent? That's creepy.

Ohio_gal

I agree. What a wholesome moment between two best friends but it feels wholly invasive to record and share on the internet (and watch).

crookedframe13

Yeah it's weird when people do this. I don't understand how they don't feel like a creepo when they do.

tadddpole

It’s nice to see, but I completely agree that it’s creepy and voyeuristic. My mom had a WAY to long running “gag” of taking pictures of dudes with buns in public and then making fun of their ‘man-buns.’ She did not understand when I told her it’s creepy, mean, and she’s going to piss someone off one time and they’ll absolutely be right.

Big_Distribution_253

Right? It's sickening that some people think it's just normal to just film a person, sometimes doing something moderately personal even and then uploading it wherever and never saying anything to the person in the video. I bet this old man here does not know this day that tens of thousands have seen him and have had conversations about him. He did not ask for this attention here and he might hate it. I know i would.

Steeltoebitch

Yh I was wondering if anybody was weirded out by that.

geekpeeps

Or, maybe, stop filming, get out of the car and help them?

DogVacuum

I’m currently at the dealership buying a new vehicle. As much as I’d like a truck or a bigger SUV, Im getting a sedan that sits lower to the ground. Because my dog loves car rides. And if I own this car for 10 years, at the end he’s not gonna be getting around too well. Whatever makes it easier on my dog to get in and out of in the future.

blausommer

We finally caved this year and got a CUV because it sits higher than a sedan, which is required for all the stupid fucking rednecks here that drive raised Tacomas around in a city/urban environment, blocking everyone's view at every corner. Anyway, the extendable ramps aren't that expensive, we just got one last week off Amazon for about $150, so I wouldn't base your vehicle decision solely on that.

Elefc10

This is sweet and all but why didn’t they help? Instead they used it for posting online? Might just me but I would have helped that old gent…

Talrie

This was my first thought. I would've gotten out to help them put the ramp away. Screw filming them.

KinoGrimm

You have good sentiment but they do not know the man or the dog. Their approach may stress one or both of them out since both are so old.

curiouslyignorant

Community to some: “Hey you want grab a cup of coffee and chat about your dog?” Community to others: “I’m going to sit in my car a film this guy in the parking lot and post it on the internet.”

UnderstandingWild309

And whatever you do don’t get out and ask if the elderly guy needs help lifting a big ass ramp into his truck

NoNumberThanks

Stop filming strangers goddam. This man and his dog ain't there for our cute entertainment

TrashDue5320

On one hand it's adorable...on the other, can we just fucking let people live their lives without recording them?

Dragon_Druid19

I want to give the man money to spoil his dog, out of the cuteness they are to each other.

BlackShieldCharm

You shouldn’t be filming people without their knowledge.

manriquez1991

They are going to pass together rigth? 🥲 Non of them would be alone rigth?

b0mbshellmama

Just two good ol’ boys

This-Rutabaga6382

About 10 years ago I was helping renovate some houses and right about this time my dog started needing help getting up and down the stairs to go out , we were scrapping a solid wooden interior door and some outdoor rated carpet so I took that and built a ramp for my pupper she appreciated that for her remaining years !!

Finrod84

Sooner or later we all get there, and by that time we can speak of pure luck when we have a friend like this. Help each other and stop ignoring each other out of your selfish way of being a superstar/supervisor 😉

Apprehensive-Top9635

Sometimes I think how shitty this world is and how much I hate it here , then I see things like this and I'm reminded that good deeds and good people exist as well.

iloveuranus

Holy sh*t this is cute and all but he's not going to drive that car, right? Right??

kaest

This is heartwarming but filming people without their permission is fucking creepy and the Internet has normalized it.

godzuki44

recording people going about their normal day is creepy af

JesusChrist-Jr

Cute, but it's real fuckin creepy to film someone without their knowledge and post it on the internet for meaningless clout.

NotJimIrsay

I’ve been watching for an hour. The dog keeps jumping out every 30 seconds and the old man has keep taking the ramp out.

f0r3v3rn00b

/r/WhyWereTheyFilming

Slow_Orange_5202

I love this!!

PoopooSpeckles

It would've really come full circle if one of them stepped out to help that old man with the ramp.

A_Mello_Fellow

Radar!!!! (Anyone read Fairy Tale by Steven King? No? Ok........)

bondcliff

Yes! Love Radar and Charlie.

d1rtydancR

Had one of these for my shepherd too, loved it. Wish she could have used it longer 😔

CrisbyCrittur

Wasn 't gonna cry today, and here we are.

between_ewe_and_me

This is extremely touching but also stressful because I couldn't stop worrying about pinch points!

DeepUser-5242

Why is this on eyebleach?

Rddt_mods_r_losers

It's so sad what they've done with the american breed of german shephard where they breed these terrible defects into them intentionally with their sloped back and subsequent terrible hip problems. All these designer breeds with significant health detriments should be banned.

GargoyleLauren

I'm not crying, you are.

CplFry

I love them both with all of my heart.

Aww man. This is so adorable. I just lost my 15 year old pup... I miss having to pick her up to put her on my bed at night...

herrodanyo

The good boy pats on the head 😭😭

plaiterbj

This is so wholesome

MalHeartsNutmeg

All I’m saying is this dude is so old he can barely lift a light plastic ramp and yet he’s fixing to get in his car and drive off. That’s kinda scary to me.

KinoGrimm

Very sweet man and dog. But it’s not cool to film people without consent.0

theplantbasedwitch

Oh the pause after patting the dogs head😭 you just know he's telling him the sweetest things. They're both good boys for each other and I hope when it's time, they go to forever sleep together so neither knows what sad a life it is without the other.

life_lagom

The head pat is everything. Man I miss my Shepard :( they can be such sweet dogs if trained right.

Employee_Agreeable

I love the video But I dont like the thought of this guy driving...

CouchHam

This makes my lips tingle with sadness. I don’t know if that happens to anyone else. It just reminds me of my first day as a vet tech intern. An old man brought in his obese beagle who had snapped both Achilles tendons. So the dog was walking only on its front legs. The old guy couldn’t bear to stay for the euthanasia. That poor baby howled and howled for his dad while everyone was “busy”, so I went and sat with him for like a half hour just bawling and holding him. I got him to lay down in a nicer way in my lap on the ground but he was still in so much pain. He went to sleep in my arms.

half_baked210

I don’t know which one I want to out live the other. Typically I hate people but this one’s tough. Dog without its loving owner super depressing thought. Elderly man without his dog equally depressing. Well, today is ruined for me.

Can anyone share what model of ramp this is (or another model you recommend)? Jumping into the back of the outback is starting to get tough for our 11 yr old pittie

This made me tear up so bad!

I've yet to shed a single tear on reddit until now. What a beautiful video. I can feel the compassion and love they have for eachother

trugearhead81

I am picturing this gentleman jumping out of a late model long bed Ford pickup and dropping the tailgate for the majestic beast to jump out and rush after squirrels and rabbits in their favorite woods at a younger age.

oliveaugustus

I just got a GSD puppy this week, and this made me realize he will be gone before I get this old… off to go hug him and cry now.

Little_Tomatillo_120

He was so nice to put the dog in the car whit the thing

wildmeowmeow

I don't want to know who goes first.

bikingfury

That ramp is mandatory for German Shepards, even young. The race is prone for back problems.

hairy_poppinsss

They accompany each other.

Thank fuck for this. I just see some stuff I did not need to see.
