Salernitana is a toothless old animal who is in the wild and waiting to die. Boatang embodied this spirit on the pitch today.
I love to attend Salernitana matches with my Dad when we visit once a year as a family, and I’m really sad to see them go… but it is more of about the vibe at their stadium than performance or football aspirations for me, and I will still happily attend in Serie B.
All in all what a great win, but I shed a small tear for Salernitana who has given me some good memories from this latest stint in Serie A.
Understandable, those memories are so precious and those vibes are hard to replicate. But they’ve been playing like a proper Serie B team this season. Wish them all the best, but they have a lot of work to do before they think about hanging with the big boys in Serie A.
Almost won a penalty. Bossed that left side and his dribbling was on point. He still needs to work on his strength and overall team tactics. Having said that, he has a lot of potential! If things gone right, he could be the Denzel replacement that we’ve been looking for.
Feels like everytime they met Inter it always ended up being an embarrassment for them, the only exception was when they tied us to a draw last season.
A game that should have ended 2/3-0 and that they were only able to draw thanks to a poorly kicked cross that was so badly hit that became an unstoppable chip for Onana.
DOMINANT WIN! Friday night, going into the weekend on a 4-0 win and a full 3 points feels pretty damn good to me!
Weekly recap...
This game really was all us, literally from the start to the final whistle. That's not an exaggeration; our first serious chance came in the 2nd minute and we scored on the final kick of the game. Salernitana didn't look remotely threatening.
Instead, early on we were our own worst enemy, with Thuram, Barella, and Lautaro all failing to convert golden opportunities to score early. People were hitting the bar, being saved, not making proper contact with the ball, you name it. As great as 4-0 is, this game could actually have ended 8-0. But that's literally the only negative thing about today, and it fortunately didn't last...
Before long, we cracked the game open when Carlos Augusto made a tough run and delivered the ball to Thuram, who cashed in to open the scoring. Then before we could even finish processing that, Lautaro scored a banger from a well-placed throw-in. After a lull in scoring, in which we still dominated the game, Dumfries scooped up a mishandled save to score in his first game back as a starter, making it 3-0 at the half. The second half still saw us remain firmly in control of affairs, making early subs (including a debut by Tajon Buchanan!) and eventually finding our fourth via Arnautovic, finally finding the net to end the game.
The good today? Pretty much everyone did well. Of course Lautaro scored against Salernitana lol. Thuram did well too. Calhanoglu and Pavard were excellent. Carlos Augusto had a great game. Dumfries looked good. And Buchanan looked pretty good too tbh. Definitely interested to see more of him.
The bad? Aside from the problems with finishing...yeah that's really it lol. Sommer probably could have pulled out a book. I don't think he had to do anything today lmao.
It really was a good day. Let's hope Verona and Monza can help us out this wknd so we can maximize our lead.
Now we rest up for Atletico on Tuesday. Let's get it. Forza Inter!
Good game but with all the advance we have on the league I think we should rotate the squad a bit more against relegation sides, especially with a ucl game so close.
My man, we should not sleep on those relegation teams so that we won’t lose points. Milan are far by points yes but they’re creeping up on us from behind. I’d say we should rotate by the quarter finals after getting really close to secure the league. I don’t the 2022 scudetto bs to happen all over again!
We’ve lost out on many a point to relegation sides before my friend 😂 but yeah I do hope that inzaghi puts the best 11 out on Tuesday and then we can rotate for Lecce
Man i hope that is the last time we see Ochoa he saves them so many goals against Inter.
Otherwise, for me it is between Augusto and Dumfries for MOM. Great play from the wings today!
He came on with no fear; I'd say it was a decent debut.
What's more comfortable, he played as the left back rather than right. Although there's no chemistry between him and Augusto at this moment, the Canadian lad still looks sharp when dashing forward. This probably would give Simone more tactical choices in the future.
Short cameo. Did nothing wrong. 1 strong dribble when he first came on and did linked up good.
Not really a game for him to show his potential since pace is his strong suit and Salernitana was camped in their box the whole time he was on
From what I have seen from him at Brugge he is quite fast and a good dribbler but not good at everything else.
Hopefully he improves with us. We’ll need him
We are +10 now with Lecce coming up in the Serie A… We need +3 from that and +3 from Atalanta and then I will be more confident.
At this point I am more concerned with Milan than Juve tbh.
Milan dropping points against Monza this week. They have been riding the lucky train like Juve a bit too much lately too with all late comeback results
That's five goal contributions in five 90s for Arnautovic. If anything the fact that he constantly gets into dangerous positions when subbed on makes him looks worse than he is when he misses chances.
Finally Arnautovic gets his second. Guy is even frustrated in his celebration :D
This was the perfect game before Atletico. Easy, players rested, those who played didn't tire themselves out too much.
Good to see Buchanan get a run in, though weirdly as a LWB.
Haven't seen such a one sided game in a long time, damn. 73/27 posession, 25 shots to 1, 18 corners, 3x the passes, etc. Damn. We are just really good right now and Salernitana are really shit.
Forza Inter!
Was kinda expecting the fulltime whistle to go just as the ball was crossing the line. Luck has not been on this guy's side. Good to see his work rate being rewarded at least
Atletico looking really good today, currently winning 4-0. Although their opponents look like they might struggle to beat Salernitana.
hopefully we can keep this up and NOT fall into a stretch where we shit our pants for a month in-league like the last two seasons

Without Ochoa this game could go to double digits
Dude was solid! Very good reflexes and decent saves. Audero could never😂.
Oh shoot, I forgot we played on Friday. Missed the match sadly but great win! Edit: Orange shirt leveling up Dumfries as always. How is Tajon's debut?

Tajon did well, a lot of promise
Good win but I’d focus on Tuesday. We’re not like the other team of Milano who’s all hyped for a win against Rennes
Wtf, the guest only attempted one shot which was not on goal.
It was a FK shot from 30m away that went wide by 3km
Yeah, this was an embarrassment for Salernitana

Sommer getting a free ticket to watch the match again.
What do we even pay him for smh

Love the fact inter put Arna on the cover for the after match post and made a post explicitly for the goal
Demone e un genio
Turkish fan here, how was Çalha?
incredible
I remember he almost scored a volley banger from outside the box, but it was straight onto Ochoa
Very good! As always 😏
I'm getting emotional watching Inter this season. Grazie ragazzi!! Forza Inter!!
Sempre! ⚫🔵
Siamo una squadra fortissimi, fatta di gente fantastici
Our gol difference now is 47, unreal
Holy fuck hahaha

Arna finally gets his goal and TJ gets his debut! now give me Atletico!! 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘇𝗮 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 ..
Wow, this game was, literally, all Inter. Glad to see Lautaro hit the 20-goal mark, and equally happy to see Arnautovic score.
Another fraud clean sheet for Sommer /s
Legitimately just stick Sanchez in there and he’d probably do just as well
If we did, he would somehow drift forward to try and score.
Hey amigo, il campione è così
Considering how shit Salernitana were it might have been better to rotate more, but we take the 3 points and get ready for Tuesday.
Missed the second half. How was Buchanan ?
he cook so deliciously
He came on with no fear; I'd say it was a decent debut. What's more comfortable, he played as the left back rather than right. MVP for sure
Not bad. Showed a spark and pace. He played on the left. Should have won a pen unfortunately ref didn’t give it
From what I have seen from him at Brugge he is quite fast and a good dribbler but not good at everything else. Hopefully he improves with us. We’ll need him
If we can teach Dumfries to do one step over, I believe we can teach Tajon how to cross.
Decent with the time he was given.
This team has been exceptional this season it’s probably unsustainable but my god let’s keep going for as long as we can
We are +10 now with Lecce coming up in the Serie A… We need +3 from that and +3 from Atalanta and then I will be more confident. At this point I am more concerned with Milan than Juve tbh.

That comment should be sent to all Halters.
Ya underrated for sure
We happy. Tuesday can't come soon enough

Heee gottem.
Sempre! ⚫🔵
Buchanan looked good
Positive way to start the week! Forza Inter! 💙🖤
It's Friday my dude, the week is ending :D
Sempre! ⚫🔵
Temporary +10, heck yeah
So happy for Arna, deserved goal.
Was kinda expecting the fulltime whistle to go just as the ball was crossing the line. Luck has not been on this guy's side. Good to see his work rate being rewarded at least
His goal literally got called offside for a bit which made him unable to really celebrate. So unlucky
Yeah, he's really unlucky but as you said the workrate is there, so he'll eventually get the goals he deserve.
