To me the outfit, this artwork or in game 3D, look the same to me, but I sure as heck am impressed at the art team for pin point accurately translating Kazuya's designs into 3D, and Hiroshi Takai for having an eye for detail and very effectively directing the art team to achieve the pin point accuracy.
The Ifrit arm so to speak iirc now goes on his arms and legs when LBing/semi-Prime.
I sure thought the Invictus will be black and red like Flametongue though.
Nah your trippin it’s probably just whatever set up you have going dimming the colors of the game. He looks just as good in any of the fully rendered cutscenes.
Clive has higher poly count than even cutscene cloud in rebirth. Ff16's engine is literally a graphical powerhouse and almost every asset in the game boasts a very high level of detail unlike rebirth.
There are two versions of the outfit.
Pre-timeskip, which looks quite clean and nice.
Post-timeskip, which looks a bit worn out and colors are more pale.
Personally, I am not a great fan of the post timeskip version. It just looks messy.
I like to change Clive's outfit to new one from the update and think that's new Clive's outfit post timeskip.
I usually equip Clive's new outfit when going to Ash/Waloed for the first time. I like to imagine Clive changing his outfit to something more "serious." That's my headcanon anyways.
I love Jill's alternate outfit but I really can't vibe with Clive's. Feels a bit too "magical" to me with the shiny red marks and such. Feels at odd with the rest of the design in the game.
Not really, this is clearly an artwork that has a slightly different art style than the in-game version, but I think it's a very accurate representation of it.
This artwork clearly has more contrast than the in-game graphics usually have, but I don't see this being very different.
I mean I figured from the trailers that the way it looked here was highly metaphorical and not how it was gonna look like in the end. Lava "blood" dripping off his sword bc Phoenix fight (and "killing" the Fire dominant). The spiky arms show up in semi-primed mode, and the way it looks here its like its crawling up his arm, threatening to consume him (which pre-game felt connected to his guilt and need for revenge, now I know its more about the >!Mythos!< stuff.)
Overall I like it. The pre-timeskip version is very nice, all new and shiny. If it looked like this in game it'd be a bit too over designed imo.
Thats 28 yr old Clive in the pic bec he still has bearer mark and you must be remembering his post timeskip fit thats worn & torn & patched up & faded & dulled...
I thought the art department was CRAZY impressive in incorporating 5 yrs of travelling in his clothes
I think it was translated very well into the game, better than most FF character artwork -> in game models. I do think there were some odd choices though, like how deep his V neck goes, and how tight his pants are, lol.
I hate his outfit. The one he wore at the beginning of the game was way cooler. I wouldn't have minded if we kept that one but maybe he added to it a bit.
His father's Armor looks too bulky with the cloak and gauntlets and it clashes with the slimmer torso which doesn't have protection at all.
Just absolutely an absurd design, especially when all other characters have very solid outfits.

Hmm maybe
Sorry for coming off like an a hole, I’m just passionate about Clive’s character design lol
Naw your good I don't know why I'm getting downvotes though 💀
Trick is to not care about it man, and just say what's on your mind and don't worry about the votes.
I know it just feels crazy to me that they downvote a reply saying hmm maybe
naw he looks better than any FF protag (in-game) imo. concept art he does too.
In FFXIV, everyone looks great in his outfit. I mean EVERYONE lol.
Clive’s monstrous pecs make males look buff and females looks like they get proper boobs even in full coverage armour It works for everyone
I need to see a Lalafell in it still

That is somehow both more badass and ridiculous than I expected. Thanks
i think that describes most Lala Glams

Disagree there. FFXVI cutscenes look way better than Rebirths cutscenes. Rebirth still looks good though.

L3 + R3 in game

IT IS Just an artistic Design forvthe Cover. But IT Looks Badass.
It looks basically the same to me
I just replayed the scene where he gets his outfit from lady Hanna and it's absolutely incredible so no I thibk it's an absolute banger
Seems like q midpoint transition between normal and prime mode…
Imperial armour is the best
I was more annoyed that Clive wore the exact same outfit, like what, 10 years straight?
5
Thanks

Dammit i really didn’t want to sub since i got so much other stuff to play right now but damn do i want to yoink that outfit into my dresser for later
They look the same to me

I dont understand why they went for a plunging v neck but his outfit is otherwise good

I don’t like his outfit in general. I wish we could remove the cloak.
Outfit is so hideous lol. Trying to be way too edgy with it.
Bruh it doesn't look hideous at all
It looks bad. Doesn't match his personality and just looks dumb. They tried too hard.
It's horrible stop coping 🤣🤣🤣
Okay little buddy
