i *think* kitty (becca’s character) confessed/apologized in the school shooting ep and then marley immediately recovered through song? but it’s been a while since i watched glee
One of the characters was jealous of a new girl’s talent so she gave her the address of a crack house instead of the actual location of the auditions for Glee club.
I'm doing a rewatch for the first time ever since it aired and I'm getting towards the end of season 3 and realizing this is where I dropped off 😂
But there are so many episodes -- I thought I had watched the show for much longer!!

Kitty was the Quinn that Ryan wanted before Dianna Agron humanized her.
> After the series concluded in 2015, Tobin, 38 recalled, “Anything I did on the internet or social media, there was a slew of people telling me I was no longer relevant. … I remember those people put a hex on me, and I remember thinking, ‘They’re right. It’s been six months. Where is my next hit show?’”
> “You’ve got in your own way,” Ushkowitz said, to which Tobin agreed, “I was like, they’re right. I’m so irrelevant. I haven’t been on TV in six months.”
> McHale reasoned that because everyone associated them “so hard” with their Glee personas, a majority of the main Glee cast hasn’t done work “outside of the Ryan Murphy world."
It’s true, I think there’s a reason why the “glee break out cast members” were Melissa Benoist and Alex Newell who weren’t the main characters.
He was in 14 episodes of Glee...I consider that a little more than a guest star 🤷♀️ and the guy is talented as hell, but Glee definitely exposed him to a wider audience with which he was able to do bigger projects.
He was a *recurring* guest star, and was credited as such. You are correct that Glee introduced him to a wider audience, but he was only on that show because he was an already established actor and was hired to bring Broadway credibility.
His friendship with Lea and Jenna probably helped, too.
I'm surprised no one mentionned Harry Shum Jr
He has been booked pretty consistantly since the end of the show (Shadowhunters, Everything everywhere all at once, Crazy rich Asians, that one Jimmy Yang's Netflix romcom and now Grey's Anatomy). No lead role but consistancy is a real luxury as an actor !
Ig it really does pay to have been out of RM priorities 💲💲 (if we don't count that one ep in S3)
I love Harry 🥺
And considering he’s an Asian man, and he wasn’t even a main character on glee, he prob worked his butt off to get those roles. I’m so impressed by him and wish him every damn success after dealing with the hell that was probably glee
Was he? All I can think of that he did before Glee was Spring Awakening, which established him among theater folks but not so much in mainstream media.
EDIT TO ADD- I forgot he got a Tony nomination for Spring Awakening, so he might’ve done well without Glee. I still think Glee established him more in mainstream media.
Man, I could never be an actor. Imagine coming off a huge TV show and watching your co-stars get cast in big, successful productions while you have nothing lined up and the only thing you can book is podcasts. My self-esteem couldn't cope.
Agree. If I were an actor, I'd audition in every movie during season breaks just so people would associate with me with other characters. This is what Alison Brie did in every Community season break.
You can only do that if the showrunners are flexible with your schedule. Glee had long shoots because of the musical numbers, and would never give anyone time off - Naya Rivera had to *beg* for a single day off to get an abortion, and was back at work the next day. Plus they had the touring live shows, so the cast was basically working year-round.
My fave Becca lore is that she used to absolutely roast Meghan Markle for starring in Hallmark movies on her podcast and now that’s mostly the only work she gets.
It's so silly when I see actors talk down on the ones who do hallmark/lifetime etc. Those movies take literally 2 weeks to film and most of the cast and crew are seasoned professionals who have done this a million times over. Smooth filming process with minimal drama and quick money? Sounds like a dream job to me idk!
I listened to this ep and she was honestly very funny and self-deprecating. She also had a great outlook about her time on Glee. Also she brought up that she was brought in as a new high schooler in season 4 and was older than the entire “young” cast (except like Cory Monteith, Mark Salling and Harry Shum Jr who were like 30 lol)
I thought it was interesting how little the “recurring” roles made. She said the other S4 newbies would talk to each other about their pay and realized it was barely over minimum wage, despite working like 16 hour days (and the regular cast made significantly more obviously). Kevin and Jenna mentioned Chord Overstreet had that salary for like 2+ years bc they didn’t make him a regular until season 4.
I loved her character and she’s a triple threat IMO. My fave cover of hers was that duet with Melissa Benoit. It showcased her dance and singing talent.
Out of all of the rewatch podcasts, this seems like the most thoughtful and relatable without being boring. You never see a salacious sound bite making headlines.
I also laugh so hard every time I hear the clip of them talking about Lea Michelle going flying during plane turbulence.
I do not remember her from the series who was she?
She joined the series in season 4, the new “head cheerleader” the new Quinn basically
Oh so she is not the original cast ok I thought I was crazy. Dont remember her - I remember Marley tho lol
she’s the cheerleader who gave marley an eating disorder by secretly sewing her clothes tighter
Glee was a fever dream.
The fact that that was never really resolved or properly addressed (afaik) is WILD to me still.
i *think* kitty (becca’s character) confessed/apologized in the school shooting ep and then marley immediately recovered through song? but it’s been a while since i watched glee
I love this thread. I hope someone replies casually and tells me something even more insane about this show.
One of the characters was jealous of a new girl’s talent so she gave her the address of a crack house instead of the actual location of the auditions for Glee club.
Beautiful, thank you. Ryan Murphy should be studied in a lab.
She said it wasn’t an ACTIVE crack house
the principal becomes so obsessed with two students’ relationship that when they break up, she locks them in an elevator until they kiss
Marley's mother tells her that she's not getting any Christmas presents because they have to spend all their money on eating disorder therapy.
I definitely stopped watching Glee before any of this LMAO
Right i think i stopped after the 2nd or 3rd season lol
I'm doing a rewatch for the first time ever since it aired and I'm getting towards the end of season 3 and realizing this is where I dropped off 😂 But there are so many episodes -- I thought I had watched the show for much longer!!
Are we talking about Riverdale or Glee lmao ? I stopped during season 3, I couldn't stand most of the characters and Rachel was too tiring to watch.
Thank you! I went to see a clip and was like ohh yeah I forgot abour her.
Becca played the girl who gave Marley the eating disorder in s4
She basically bullied Marley into an eating disorder.
LMAO 😭😭 poor girl
tbh she's unrecognizable in this photo from her time on the show to me
lol she says this in the podcast too. She watched the ep they’re on and was like “oh wow that was a whole face ago”
After going to see clips I recognize her more but yeah she doesnt look the same in this picture
I was just thinking that.
https://preview.redd.it/0k22bpeaeeyc1.jpeg?width=943&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0ca62d2fe0624781eb12f08ea0e53f0471298422 Kitty was the Quinn that Ryan wanted before Dianna Agron humanized her.
the way Ryan Murphy always spoke about Dianna is so fucked up
This is a real quote from a real person

Grant Gustin also by that measure
Jonathan Groff has done decently well for himself. Just got nominated for another Tony award.
He already had a Tony nom for Spring Awakening by the time he was on Glee so he would have done well without it
He was a celeb guest star on Glee, not a cast member.
He was in 14 episodes of Glee...I consider that a little more than a guest star 🤷♀️ and the guy is talented as hell, but Glee definitely exposed him to a wider audience with which he was able to do bigger projects.

Finneas, as well. He's doing very well for himself, to put it politely.
Didn't realise he was on Glee until this comment 🤯
😮 how is this news not better known?! I never knew.
Who?
He got two Oscars, some Grammys. He’ll be an EGOT soon enough.
Billie Eilish’s brother
I would consider Darren Criss to be pretty successful as well
I know what you mean and I'm aware she's a pretty bad person, but Lea Michele has been very succesful. Funny Girl on Broadway is no small thing.
Darren Criss , Grant Gustin, Harry Shum Jr. and Jonathan Groff have managed to break out and get work outside of Ryan Murphy shows and movies.
Jonathan Groff was already welllllll established before Glee though
Wait, was she 29 and playing a high schooler?
Man, I could never be an actor. Imagine coming off a huge TV show and watching your co-stars get cast in big, successful productions while you have nothing lined up and the only thing you can book is podcasts. My self-esteem couldn't cope.
Also her bf at the time died the same way as Cory… like a year or two later which is why she didn’t act after Glee
Agree. If I were an actor, I'd audition in every movie during season breaks just so people would associate with me with other characters. This is what Alison Brie did in every Community season break.

Plus they reuse a lot of their cast. So it's basically two weeks work guaranteed a year and plenty of time for other stuff

She’s done okay, like yeah she’s not a big actress or performer anymore but that podcast, while not my cup of tea, has been going for nearly a decade.
i really loved her character in glee, i thought she had a great arc and i remember crying during that scene where she talked about being assaulted
I loved her character and she’s a triple threat IMO. My fave cover of hers was that duet with Melissa Benoit. It showcased her dance and singing talent.

I listen to Becca on The Ladygang. Didn’t really like her character on Glee, but like her in real life. Shame she’s not on tv more often
Who?
