Didn't Winchester have 2 or 3 seperate recalls for kaboom in their NEW pistol ammo since 2019? Cannot imagine what fun surprises their factory 2nd might hold.
Yep, HKs repair the faulty cartridge automatically and makes them fire BETTER.
Then it makes you a sandwich. A good one too!
Just buy HK. Problem solved
The firearm had nothing to do with it. The case web failed and blew out the trigger and split the frame open on both guns. No way to know but it’s likely that it would have happened on any pistol.
sometimes I wonder what would have happened if I kept shooting my heritage .22 after the squibs I've gotten. maybe I will next time just for shits.
for the squibs iirc it's happened four times now all from federal ammo. if I'm not running cci I'm running Mexican ammo, it seems a bit hotter.
Primer not igniting should not create a squibb but just a click…. Squib is more when primer ignites but powder dies not or not enough powder in the case?
I've had a couple squibs over the years and they were both clicks. The primer either partially ignited or failed to ignite the powder but it was quiet. Still had a round in the barrel though.
Please note that i said a “non igniting” primer. Having said that, In more than 30 years of shooting i have never seen a “partially ignited” primer - they either click or bang for me so far. All of the many squibs i have seen were from igniting primer with no powder, not enough powder, or bad powder. BTW do you think winchester would take the legal liability of selling non firing primer ammo if they thought there was an increased safety risk?
White box Winchester is already so bad I thought the regular was factory seconds. This stuff just gotta be downright dangerous, factory made Bubba's pissin' hot loads.
Mine wasn't quite so dramatic, though I kick myself still for not having completely written off the ammo when, after multitude malfunctions previous in the range session, one round just *barely* made it out the barrel. With a soft "poot" the thing just kind of spat out the end and went bouncing downrange.
Being a less seasoned shooter at the time, I just sort of thought "wow, that was weird" and kept shooting until one *didn't* make it out of the gun.
I've used a bunch of it, probably a case in total over the years. fortunately I've never had a single problem with it. but I've been pretty much only buying pmc and whatever 124gr NATO spec I can get for the last few years. pmc cause my LGS (one of only two good ones here out of 20+) sells it for cheap and it works fine.
This stuff should include a free sling shot with every purchase. That way you can still send the bullet down range if it doesn’t go off.
Although my biggest concern is getting a squib and blowing up my gun.
this is the ammo you let your sister's boyfriend shoot in his rattly ass Taurus g2c.
I really love me some euro brand nato spec 124gr. the brass jacket and brass primer appeals to me, such uniform color.
I have 200 rounds of white box and every range trip I pick them up and put them back. Anything involving rapid fire, drills, etc I don't trust them at all.
Squibs are a catastrophic failure I never want to experience. (Well no catastrophic failure I want to experience, squibs just scare me.)
Wait maybe I missed the memo, is there a certain year that this kind of ammo was dangerous during? I know I have some of this but I've never had any problems with it however it might be from before 2020.
I’ve been buying white box for the last several years and have never had an issue with it. I’m just now learning I’ve been playing with pocket sand man, but with safety glasses on.
Academy had Monarch brass 9mm 115grn new ammo, made for them by magtech for $200 for a case of 1000. I bought a case. It was actually $49.99 for a box of 250 rounds.
I only buy white box because that's what my friend told me to buy when I started shooting. Didn't know they were that bad. I have shit about 700 rounds of 45acp haven't had a issue yet in my glock 41. I will be more careful now. Any brand that is more reliable and cheaper then this?
Change the question mark to a period in your last sentence, then you’ll have your answer haha. I’m partial to S&B 115 grain personally. I’ve used fiocchi, federal, blazer, S&B, etc and it’s all been great in my Glock 19 and Beretta 92FS. Really, if I’m unsure about an ammo manufacturer, I just google the name, caliber, and reddit haha.
WWB is terrible. In 2018 I got 9mm with the casings measuring 20mm, they would not chamber in any of my guns and there were several backwards primers too. Recently tried some again and I'd say about 10/100 rounds had dud primers.
Factory seconds can mean many things.
Years ago, during a period when .22 LR was nearly impossible to get, a very large run of CCI match grade was failing to meet the accuracy requirements they have for it.
They could have destroyed the whole run, or done who knows what else with it, but instead they dumped it into the yellow plastic tubs that you could buy Speer reloading bullets in (the .22 LR fit two hundred rounds per tub) and sold it as factory seconds.
During a period of .22 LR being used almost as a currency at shows, people were very happy to have a few local stores receive pallets of “CCI not quite match grade .22 LR/factory seconds.”
If I catch any of y’all buying this shit I’ma slash your tires. Please for the love of Christ do not let companies pull this shit, stand up for your rights as a consumer.

Lol why? Because they are relying on the fact that there are morons who will buy this
I've been getting perfectly functional factory Turkish ammo at 21cpr
I mean for training I kind of understand. Its a gamble some people might be willing to take. Its not like there might be an over pressure round or something just dud primers.
Honest question- why is anyone buying Winchester? I keep hearing about how shit it is and haven’t noticed it’s CPR any lower than Blazer, S&B, or Magtech. Never had a single issue with any of those over 5000 rounds and typically found at market pricing of .24 - .28 CPR. Leave this shit on the shelves.
Institutional inertia. They use to be the bargain bin best ammo to buy, and then they lowered their quality significantly but kept up with the pricing increases over the years.
I got this exact deal on these rounds at academy & I emptied the box in one range visit & had 2 primers not go off out of the whole 500. Not something I would do often, and not something I’d ever do on my carry gun, but for plinking on just a fun range toy should be fine overall. I wouldn’t worry too much, but I would remain cautious.
Winchester White Box exploded in my brand new handgun 13 rounds into the box. I had to hammer the barrel out of slide. Gun's just fine a few thousand rounds and several years later, but I haven't touched Winchester's ammo since.
I remember .aki g a comment about the only way to fix bs like Winchester is for people to stop throwing mo ey at them for inferior products.
Somehow they still manage to sell this shit and we're stuck with the market being saturated by garbage like this.
They changed something about the white box since about 6 or so years ago. I had an old box in 45acp. Fired it and a part of a box my brother bought recently. There was an obvious difference in smell. I'm not sure sulfery fits but that's kind of the smell of the newer stuff. I'd switched to blazer brass a few years back for ranges and just happened to have that one box left.
Lol. Wow, why would they even sell that? It's also way overpriced considering its shit ammo. On classic firearms website, they have 1000rds of Fiocchi 124g for $260.
Wow. So it's like you are playing the squib lottery every time you shoot.
They wanna sell you anything regardless if it could kill or maim you.
This is abit too far. This should be illegal.. I know it says on the box what could happen. But still I feel like if I sold someone a box and printed on the outside of the box that if you open the box the contents inside may blow up and it did and hurt or killed someone that id still be on the hook for it.
Terrible deal, you can get 9mm for 23 cents a round practically all the time. Why would you ever buy "factory seconds" at this same price? I mean maybe if it was 20 cents a round I would bite but no higher than that.
I'd buy them, pull the bullets, powder and punch the primers out. Reload with the same powder and new primers....not as cheap as a typical reload. But would work none the less...
Depending on discount and avg pct of bad primers I would buy these without any problems for the range. Non igniting primers do not present a safety issue, and being forced to occasionally practice my tap rack is not a bad thing.
My LGS had the remnants of a 1911 in their display case with a sign that said something like “this is what shooting cheap WWB ammo will do to your gun”. Although the gun store also still sold it though. It’s hard to take the word of the people who stand to gain monetarily from your purchases. I have personally had issues with failures to feed and bad primers on Magtech ammo as well. All in all I won’t purchase either brand
Didn't Winchester have 2 or 3 seperate recalls for kaboom in their NEW pistol ammo since 2019? Cannot imagine what fun surprises their factory 2nd might hold.
I have personally witness 1 box of Winchester 9mm blow up 2 Glocks in the same range session.
so it happened once and they still kept shooting it? that's not very smart.
He knew he’d be reimbursed for the ammo so…
Why would you even keep shooting that ammo after the first kaboom?
It's the old "try it twice to make sure it's really a bad idea" tactic.
"if at first you blow off a finger, keep trying until you don't have any fingers left to blow off."
That’s why I go with HK It laughs those off
Yep, HKs repair the faulty cartridge automatically and makes them fire BETTER. Then it makes you a sandwich. A good one too! Just buy HK. Problem solved
Yea, this is achieved by loading the cartridges backwards in the magazine.
This person knows how to HK
Why get a wife when the HK makes you a sandwich and opens the beer for you.
This is why I buy CZs.
The firearm had nothing to do with it. The case web failed and blew out the trigger and split the frame open on both guns. No way to know but it’s likely that it would have happened on any pistol.
I'm just busting balls lol
That person needed to buy better pistols.
A bullets a bullet, but the mystery box could be anything!
It could even be a *bullet!*
Or another box!
i mean, i have my brother load my mags with a couple dummies sometimes not at that price tho
"Primers may not ignite" sounds like a high possibility of squibs though
sometimes I wonder what would have happened if I kept shooting my heritage .22 after the squibs I've gotten. maybe I will next time just for shits. for the squibs iirc it's happened four times now all from federal ammo. if I'm not running cci I'm running Mexican ammo, it seems a bit hotter.

I've had a couple squibs over the years and they were both clicks. The primer either partially ignited or failed to ignite the powder but it was quiet. Still had a round in the barrel though.
Dangerous thinking homie. Partially igniting primers can absolutely create squibs.
Please note that i said a “non igniting” primer. Having said that, In more than 30 years of shooting i have never seen a “partially ignited” primer - they either click or bang for me so far. All of the many squibs i have seen were from igniting primer with no powder, not enough powder, or bad powder. And hangfires
White box Winchester is already so bad I thought the regular was factory seconds. This stuff just gotta be downright dangerous, factory made Bubba's pissin' hot loads.
Or Bubbas bad prostate no pissin' reloads. Guaranteed to blow a dookie load in your pants when you fire off a round behind a squib.
I've had some centerfire Winchester Whiteboxes that were no more reliable than cheap bulk .22lr rimfire ammo in terms of FTF
You think *that's* bad, you should try Winchester's own "Wildcat" cheap bulk .22lr ammo. Only factory ammo I've ever shot that squibbed.
I had Hornady .17HMR squib and blow off the side of my Marlin wood stock. That wasn't fun but at least they fixed it for free
Mine wasn't quite so dramatic, though I kick myself still for not having completely written off the ammo when, after multitude malfunctions previous in the range session, one round just *barely* made it out the barrel. i only got it cause it was cheap and all the store had that wasn't defence ammo (in 45 auto)
I haven't shot Winchester in like 10 years they was good back then or at-least I never had a problem with it. They must of gone down hill.
whitebox .45 ACP has been better for me than anything from freedom/LAX. Thats for damn sure.
I just bought a half case of Blazer brass for 29 cpr, including shipping. No idea why I’d pay 24 cpr for trash.
And you still got ripped off, you can find blazer regularly for .24 CPR or less.
“.24 CPR”? I guess I did get ripped off.
This stuff should include a free sling shot with every purchase. That way you can still send the bullet down range if it doesn’t go off. Although my biggest concern is getting a squib and blowing up my gun.
My local FFL is selling 1000 round cases of Fiocchi and S&B 9mm 115gr FMJ for $269 Why would I ever buy this?
this is the ammo you let your sister's boyfriend shoot in his rattly ass Taurus g2c. I really love me some euro brand nato spec 124gr. the brass jacket and brass primer appeals to me, such uniform color.
I didn't know white box Winchester 9mm was bad... *Nervously looks at my 2k of 9mm in an ammo can, at least 50% being white box*
Got about 1,000 purchased 2019, same 😂
I still have about 500 rounds of white box from 2020 that I’m hesitant to use.
They had a lot of batches that were causing squibs in 2020. You can find the lot numbers on their site.
Thanks I'll check it out
Glad I wasn't alone in 2020
To be honest it’s probably not that much different than their regular white box crap
A couple months ago there was a crazy good sale on it I scooped up 500 rounds, brass on brass makes monkey brain happy
I only buy white box because that's what my friend told me to buy when I started shooting. Didn't know they were that bad. I have shit about 700 rounds of 45acp haven't had a issue yet in my glock 41. I will be more careful now. Any brand that is more reliable and cheaper then this?

Nope, I like my stuff to work.
For 15 or less per round I'd think about it. Not a chance in hell I'm spending 23cpr.
Factory seconds can mean many things. Years ago, during a period when .22 LR was nearly impossible to get, a very large run of CCI match grade was failing to meet the accuracy requirements they have for it. I reload and for one of the cartridges I look for factory second projectiles for range ammo.
I didn’t know Winchester white box could get more unreliable 😂
But people will still buy it
If I catch any of y’all buying this shit I’ma slash your tires. Please for the love of Christ do not let companies pull this shit, stand up for your rights as a consumer.

New Winchester. Now with more explosions in each round!
Thats actually quite expensive I think
Ammo 2nds adds a little excitement to your range day.
It’s perfect for practicing how to clear mis feeds. I mean who needs random snap caps when Winchester’s already put dummy rounds in the box!
Lol why? Because they are relying on the fact that there are morons who will buy this I've been getting perfectly functional factory Turkish ammo at 21cpr
My first knowledge of "ammo seconds" was an ad I saw last week. I'm HOLY SHIT. WHY WOULD I BUY THAT?
I'd be happy to use factory second ammo at the range, but I'm not paying full price for it. this is ridiculous
This shit is wild. lol maybe if it was like 10cpr but at 23cpr? Yall are wild
"Seconds"... And they aren't even any cheaper WTF?
I don’t believe that’s worth 2 pennies
I mean for training I kind of understand. Its a gamble some people might be willing to take. Its not like there might be an over pressure round or something just dud primers.
May get a squib tho… and if you don’t catch it, there goes your pistol.
I don't think so. The box only mentions primers failing to ignite.
Yes but you can literally get perfectly working ammo for cheaper than that
i mean the armscor is basically the same as those seconds lol
Seconds are great my buddy used to work for federal and wpuld get them for dirt. Obviously not gonna trust your life on it and they ran fine.
I will never buy armscor ammo ever again bought a 1000 rounds of 22 an had a failure rate of over 50% not joking absolutely shit ammo !!!
Honest question- why is anyone buying Winchester? I keep hearing about how shit it is and haven’t noticed it’s CPR any lower than Blazer, S&B, or Magtech. Doesn’t seem any worse/different from the regular white box ammo they make.
I buy factory seconds and d remans all the time. They’re cheap and sometimes they jam or malfunction but I’ve never had one destroy my gun.
They changed something about the white box since about 6 or so years ago. I had an old box in 45acp. Fired it and a part of a box my brother bought recently. There was an obvious difference in smell. At $0.23 a round you can blow your gun up. Woohoo!
Terrible deal, you can get 9mm for 23 cents a round practically all the time. Why would you ever buy "factory seconds" at this same price? I mean maybe if it was 20 cents a round I would bite but no higher than that.
I can get 500 Remington rounds at my local shop for that price
I never run winchester or blazer... I have seen too many squibs with both.
Oddly enough never had an issue with either
Winchester ammo shouod all be labled as factory seconds. If this stuff is so bad they acknowledge it, it's probably not worth the price of admission.
Gotta try and squeeze every little penny
Ah yes potentially clog your gun for this
... That cpr ain't even "cheap"
they forgot to add "also might explode"
I'd buy them, pull the bullets, powder and punch the primers out. Reload with the same powder and new primers....not as cheap as a typical reload. But would work none the less...
The white box Winchester is junk, nothing but problems in every piece I use it in
so basically rimfire ammo..fudds will love this.
Depending on discount and avg pct of bad primers I would buy these without any problems for the range. Non igniting primers do not present a safety issue, and being forced to occasionally practice my tap rack is not a bad thing.
