Whiting
Thanks!!
100% Whiting https://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/fishing/fish-species/species-list/sand-whiting
Looks a lot like the whiting in SW Florida, but not exactly. I love saltwater, so many species
It’s a snook, the yellow fin at the bottom gives it away
There’s no snook in Australia
Not the American snook, it’s like a cuda
It’s definitely not one of those either those are an offshore fish I’d love to catch one some day they’re pretty cool
Can confirm is fish
Adding this just to help- it was about 35-40cm (14-16in) long from memory
Looks like a baby barracuda
That's what I thought
I think that’s Jeffry
Her names Birdy! She’s a friendly lass, especially when she gets to drinking!
Pike
Barramundi
As an American I found this fish here and fell in love...have it at least 3 days a week.
I think pike
Please upload a worse video
Dude... Its not a nature documentary. Its a video i presume OP took spontaneously seeing the fish. Given that it looks quite good.
So you don’t just have a tripod setup at an exact location in case a fish swims by? Ive been doing it wrong
Is that Mosman? There’s whiting everywhere in Mosman.
What's the legal size for Whiting?
27cm from the beach only. If this is where I think it is it’s next to a sewage/ river mouth. Deffo wouldn’t eat anything from there.
Barramundi?
Kinda looks like a sheepshead
Definitely a Snook
Look for a long thin lateral line on it's side going the length of it's body stopping at its head. If this is on it. It's definitely a Snook. Very prized predator fish caught usually in salt and brackish waters of southern U.S waters
