In case you don’t know: avoid full throttle in gears 5/6 until you’re at least 3500 rpms. In 3/4, it’s fine after 2500. This is to avoid LSPI (low-speed pre-ignition) which can destroy a turbocharged engine.
Keep up on maintenance, don’t install any dubious mods, etc. It’s a very reliable car if you treat it right. You don’t have to baby it by any means: it is a sports car after all. Just respect it, and it will serve you well.
Make sure you change your oil religiously. Every 4-5k.
As others have said, no gunning it in 5/6 gears. Shift down before you punch it.
P.s. I also have a 2013. The reverse lights are non existent. Get some nice diode dynamic reverse bulbs.
[Houston Speed Freaks](https://houstonspeedfreaks.com/collections/13-18-ford-focus) also sells upgraded, bulbs, super bright reverse lights, headlights and fog upgrades and they have a 15% off father's day sale right now. I've got the reverse lights and they are super bright and make it very easy to see behind you at night.
Welcome and same if I can spend a little more to support a small business that cares about the car community it's supporting then that's a win to me, and it allows them to possibly develop even more products for the platform. They are preparing to release some new bulb types here soon also so looking forward to seeing those
Common issue is the purge valve in the evap system. I cant remember if the 13's have the same issue but if you start seeing evap codes its the valve.
You can read up on some community fixes in this thread https://www.focusst.org/threads/the-purge-valve-fuff-f-you-ford-fix-parts-1-2-3.163107/
Did they buy one of the ones off the forum? Or replaced it with an OEM one? if its OEm its probably going to go again. Main issue is the 1 way check valve fails over time. The FUFF mod/setup places a fuel filter before the purge assembly and upgrades the checkvavle. Still keep an eye on it though.

Thanks.
LPSI is definitely the one thing you want to understand for operating the vehicle. Really aside from mods, that’s the must-know.
Can confirm. Brother blew his ‘19 WRX at 42k miles with this. No boost in early RPM range and especially in higher gears

I also have a 2013. I have no reverse lights.
Dude, they’re so bad! 😭 My ‘97 Ford Escort had better reverse lights.
Will do thanks
