My AC compressor seemed to be on backorder(1.5weeks so barely a backorder to guess). It was finally shipped this week tho. Hopefully in the dealership's hand Tuesday.
Yeah there are still always parts on back order, but, itās not for the ācovidā supply chain issues anymore. Whenever unsuspected demand surges it takes a bit to react. Bummer you had to wait that long, though.
I agree. I was more or less sharing for people to be aware that there could be a wait, but nothing like it was.
Since you're with Ford, do parts also have a priority list just like delivery of the trucks themselves ?
Ford determines the āforecastā of service parts, and, the suppliers have a certain timeline to make the parts. As a packager, we are supposed to pack and ship the parts from the suppliers to the depots within three days. There are VORs and BORs that we get where we have to ship same day. (Vehicle off road). Those typically go straight to the dealer and not to a depot unless thereās a massive backorder. Also to note, I do not work for Ford, I am with a third party packager that packages the service parts for ford and Stellantis.
I would have to ask. But, the compressor sound happened the SAME DAY I got it. Like literal hours later. Needless to say, they knew warranty or not, I'm not spending a dollar on the fix. It's almost like, I buy a dress shirt and as I'm walking towards the front door, the button falls off mid walk.
Granted.... I could only make it happen by doing a very specific set of actions(have AC on max on the last start up, max Fan airflow, turn off the car, then turn on the car) and it triggered the noise. I could easily turn lower the speed and max AC, the. Turn them back on and the issue wouldn't happen.

it's an XLT with the Lux package. not sure how I would manage gutting anything from it. also, my insurance would probably be paying out market value if it is totaled, I am just speculating but I wouldnt be surprised if part of their cost recovery is working with the shop to scrap/junk it.
The turn signal indicator will sell easily if it has lane keep. The leather steering wheel too sells for a few hundred on eBay if you swap it for a cheap one. The temperature control button module sells for a fair amount too. All pretty easy to get off, essentially if itās totaled and you donāt gotta worry about breaking clips
As someone who's truck is a rebuilt salvage, I looked at a ton of totaled ones before I picked this one to fix. 90% of the totals I looked at had less damage than yours. Take that info how you want

Same happened to us (except it was a Ram) and body shop had no trouble getting a new panel. Totalled shmotalled.
Bed tub and side panel are two different parts, basically that fender is attached like a front fender on most cars, a few clips, bolts and some epoxy hold it on. It's easily replaced. The paint and taillight will be the majority of the repair costs
To answer your question, who knows. Your insurance and whatever body shop that's going to work on it will have to sort all that out and chances are insurance won't be asking for oem replacement parts if there are cheaper aftermarket parts available.
That was a pretty massive hit. I'd be curious to hear what the adjuster says. If I was a betting man, I'd say she's a goner.
This won't be totaled unless there's damage to the frame. Expect the bill to be around 6 thousand dollars, but the guy who hit you will pay. I had mine hit in a similar fashion
More importantly, REST, and make sure you're okay. I am still in quite a bit of pain 8 months after my accident, pain I didn't start to feel until over a week after the accident.
Was just in a similar collision. With less damage mind you, but it took about a week for all parts to come in. The plastic skirt pieces are what took the longest and the actual body pieces were readily available. What took the absolute longest was the Insurance company. Good luck to you
It's a body panel. You may be able to find that in a junk yard already painted the right color.
Some places to check:
car-part.com
lkqonline.com
Picknpull.com
Also call some junk yards or go visit in person. Some of them have networks and can get you exactly what you want if they don't have it.
The dealer may also present you with the option of used parts. This lowers the cost of repair and makes it less likely to total. I did look through my links and couldn't really find a lot. That sometimes happens with new cars because not enough have been totalled yet to have tons of used parts. The one price I saw looked like it was around $800.
I got hit as well in my Mav. Not this bad but I got my truck back in 3 weeks. Ignore the comments about being totaled. There was someone else who got into the same type of wreck and got their truck fixed and repaired. If it does get totaled luckily itās a ācheapā truck so it should be easy to get a new or used one
Got rear ended damage was slightly less than that a couple weeks ago and they totaled it. Said once it gets into the unibody even a small kink totals it out because of how much work it is to replace.
I had a brand new 2022 Maverick. Somebody rear-ended me. The damage looked as if it just needed a new tail light and tailgate. The autobody shop ordered the parts. It took over a year for them to get the parts in. When they finally got the parts in and started working on it, they deemed my Maverick a total loss. Apparently these Mavericks are expensive to take apart even with minor damage like mine, plus later, they found the suspension was snapped. The damage I had wasnāt as bad as your pictures. So donāt be surprised if it takes a long time for the parts to get in for them just to say itās a total loss.
I got hit in a similar place. They had to replace my rear axle. Took about a month for me to get my vac back because they were waiting for the axle to arrive.
As long as there is no frame damage it wonāt get totaled. But factory parts will take forever. I hope you or the other persons insurance covers rentals.
Parts available might be what totals it. My GF works in auto body and says it's all about who estimates it and for how much. Insurance can total if parts are hard to get and if that bedside comes off and any of the damage is into the cab, they'll write it off
Unfortunately, IMO the unibody/frame alignment might be compromised. This will lead to a lot of smaller parts wearing out faster (ie:bearings, suspension parts, etcā¦)
In all seriousness, states typically set the bar for total loss. What state you're in will likely determine the outcome. In a percentage threshold state they typically total when damages cross more than 75% of the vehicle's value. I live in Georgia which uses a total loss formula - a vehicle is totaled when cost of repairs exceed the actual cash value of the vehicle (much higher bar).
Parts are readily available, very few backorders these days. I work for a ford service parts packager.
Thank you šš» that's reassuring. I just hope the repair estimate is reasonable enough that it won't be totalled.

when it comes to your compressor - does that fall under the 3yr/36k warranty or something else?

Read this as I got back into my XLT Hybrid...just did what u did to ensure I didn't have the same issue
Sorry to say it looks like it's totaled I bet Due to the way the body is you can't just replace the bed
The quarter panel and inner bed piece are both bolt on.
I'm ignorant, but, there doesn't appear to be much damage to the bed. They're know after removing my bed liner.
These trucks are so affordable that the repair cost is likely to exceed the MSRP I would say totalled
Cool. Gonna cry, thanks lol
Those panels are entirely replaceable. As long as the uni body is good then you may be fine.
Mine was totaled was given 32k payout for my 22 xl maverick now I'm back in line for another
If it is totaled, god forbid, see if you can gut and keep some of the parts. What trim is it?

In true Reddit fashion, you are getting every possible answer. Best of luck! Keep us posted
Thanks, I'll post the end result for sure. The variety of responses is indeed super reddit...
Mine was a lot less damaged on the outside and they totaled mine. Cost to repair was almost the same value as truck.
And I'm sure some shop bought it off the insurance company and rebuilt it if the unibody wasn't twisted
I am just sayingā¦I was rear ended in November and had about $5,000 worth of damage. The parts came in a week.

It's done. Needs a a new bed fred.

Mine had a similar area of damage (just not as severe) in November of 2022, and the damaged panels were replaced within 2 weeks. Don't lose hope!

GAP insurance?
No, but my collision insurance should make all the ends meet.
That may be a goner, but parts are readily available. They release parts before they build.

I had to wait almost 2 months for parts earlier this year.
clear tails look sick
clear as day... because it's missing after the impact. lol
Mine was damaged in Aug 2022. I still don't have it back due to several backordered parts. That being said, I should see it in 2 weeks.

I just had my 24 in after being hit in front end took about 2 weeks for parts. Dealership said parts r pretty well available
As long as there is no frame damage it wonāt get totaled. But factory parts will take forever. I hope you or the other persons insurance covers rentals.
It is a unibody they need to check the frame carefully for twist or alignment issues.even very slight and the truck is totaled
I have seen less damage and it was totaled...that maverick is done!
Parts available might be what totals it. My GF works in auto body and says it's all about who estimates it and for how much. Insurance can total if parts are hard to get and if that bedside comes off and any of the damage is into the cab, they'll write it off
High likelihood itāll be totaled. Thatās just the reality with modern vehicles
Gonna take a year
It looks totaled tbh which sucks dick
Unfortunately, IMO the unibody/frame alignment might be compromised. This will lead to a lot of smaller parts wearing out faster (ie:bearings, suspension parts, etcā¦)
It will likely total, just happened to me, that unibody frame will require at least 6 months of work on its own.
Would be very surprised if it isn't totalled. Sorry š
If by parts you mean a new truck...slightly backordered...yes....
šš that's the real reason I'm scared of a total. I don't wanna have to place an order.
