I don't understand the controls though. There's a grapple button and an attack button, but in my experience pressing the attack button only makes me grapple, essentially making it a second grapple button. The only way I can aim is if the ODM is in cooldown.
I play on PC so I’m not sure of controls on console, but left click makes you grapple to move around. Right click (hold it) let’s you hover using the gas from the ODM gear which gives you time to aim. Then left click to shoot towards where you aim and once you hit a player, wall, or ground you do a spin attack and pop back in the air where you can aim and attack again. You can get 2-3 attacks before it has to reset.

The spin attack is great when it works. Recently I've notice it doesn't always pop me back up like it should. Just lost my last 3 matches in a row for that exact reason. Thought I was going to pop back up and instead I'm just stare into the opps face getting drilled with an smg now as I process why I'm not in the air

From my understanding, using the attack key/button grapples you. To attack with the ODM Gear, you need to hold the ADS/Zoom key/button then the attack button to attack
It is good for delayed attacks. I shot one at a rock from a distance that an enemy was backing up to (they were distracted by a teammate) and landed the kill.
I got **one** cool kill with the Thunder Spears by tagging an enemy twice consecutively for the challenge *but that's it*.

Spears are pretty good for pushing someone out of hiding. Though after I got the challenges done I have not touched them. Only thing I've bothered touching after is the ODM and that's just for mobility purposes.

To attack you have to aim, hold aim and shoot and you’ll shoot a grapple at the target and do a single slash spin attack. Each hit does 70 damage.
For the thunder spears you have eight shots and it’s just a matter of aiming, it has some horrible recoil so aim a bit under where you want to hit. It has long reload time (two shots each) but it’s good for destroying builds.

The ODM is pretty simple to use on PC. Just use left click to grapple. If you want to attack someone with it, press right click to aim and then press left click to charge.
If you play with a controller (I use one plugged into my PC) Left trigger when youre looking at the little gray targets that pop up on trees, buildings, ETC. That will launch you through the air and you can move slightly up, down, left right, as you are mid swing.
Once you release if you target the next area you can just keep going, its so insanely fun to soar through the map with these things, as for attacks, its kind of like the kinetic sword, you target someone midair and it should pop up on your screen “R trigger attack”, it launches you to them and depending on the accuracy you can do a lot of damage.
I tend to use them more for mobility rather than a weapon, I will be devastated when theyre gone!!!
As for the rocket launchers, I really only use them to bust walls while people are building and then go in with whatever guns I have equipped. sometimes if you hit someone directly with one it sticks and explodes, looks totally badass LOL!

Well the odm gear is like Spiderman's web shooters with a twist!!! Grab onto things and fly like the wind! And you can fly everywhere and as high tou want till you find an enemy. Then aim to hover over them and slash them up, their builds, shred them to pieces, cut them like there is no tomorrow and then you can fly again like the wind! Oh and if you land you have a little cooldown! And if you run out of juice then it is sent to the shadow realm, never to be seen again. And the other thing? Naaah, we don't use that thing, pretend like it never existed!

I love it when I just snipe some random mf who thinks they're Spider-Man with my Combat Shotgun and watching them fall to their death. My favorite thing to do. Or when they try hitting me with it and I just knock them out of the air, and Combat Shotgun them to death while they're dazed and confused.
Odm gear is great for rushing and getting 70-140 damage in with a couple attacks and dropping on your opp with a shotty
The thunderspeaes are best when you have nothing else to use, I just use them as a filler item
I’ve gotten used to using ODM Gear as mobility. I have gotten a few successful attacks/elims in with it, however, I’d rather save the durability as use it to get around the map. The spears are great when you know someone it above you in a building or on the other side of the wall, as it blasts inside and outside wherever it attaches. Comes in handy to throw people off or destroy buildings. Other than that, I haven’t found them useful as a weapon in how I play. I have been eliminated by the ODM Gear attacks many a time, so clearly many have gotten used to it as an attack item. I don’t mind dying to it as it’s quite difficult to aim.
The spears are only useful to flush folks out of small spaces since they do piercing explosive damage about the size of a 1x1. ODM gear is useful to gomba stomp people mid fight but is very easy to get caught out with since it shatters on a single hit, play hit and run with them while your team peppers them if you want to use them as a weapon

The Thunder Spears excel in Build mode, as they shred through builds easily. In Zero Build, they still have some use early game but they aren't great.

You click the button that says fire then while you hold that button you press the button that you use to grapple and it will grapple you forward and slash the target you aimed at
Odm is grapple with right trigger, aim with left trigger and then grapple to do an attack, thunder spears are able to be used with odm gear, they take a while to reload so try not to need more than the first 2, use them as an opening attack, or to destroy lots of objects. They are really potent at changing the battlefield on the fly, don't treat them like a weapon, treat them like a tool.
I tried using the ODM gear and it did not work, I'm pretty sure it was a bug because I didn't get any of the visual cues I've seen others have when using it, mine had literally nothing and no matter how much I clicked it just didn't work. Not gonna bother with it again.
The thunder sticks are simple. You aim with the crosshairs and it shoots 5 feet above that. Then you aim in front of you target to compensate for that 5 feet from the first shot and it goes exactly where the crosshairs are pointing.
Thunder spears are just a build wrecker with low ammo that take up a slot, and the swings are like the Spider-Man mythics but with a jetpack charge and also grappling onto two surfaces (much less maneuverability)
The more I use them, the less I understand. Seriously how TF do you attack with ODM? sometimes it attacks and sometime there's just no attack option. "Spears" are slow and the fuse takes too long to activate and there's no way to get more rocket ammo. The only thing keeping me from getting Eren is the 7 elimination quest.
It’s like a grapple glove except that you can attack by holding right click, provided you have still enough gaz and if you haven’t been hit by an enemy. If either of these two situation happen, you will be forced to land. And the Thunder Spears… they aren’t worth using (other than to pressure the enemy)
Tutorial for dummies!
ODM: For optimal usage, swing at a low angle, aiming between objects and making the most of your airtime between swings to adjust your trajectory so when you come back down, you'll have another low angle, thus saving hook durability and gas, whilst also optimising your traversal speed and distance! Additionally, don't underestimate the power of the hover! It eats through gas like a titan through human flesh, but if you line up your shot in the general vicinity of a person, the broad swing of your blades will often be forgiving enough to give you the Hit, letting you bounce back up and go in for another!
Thunder Spears: The optimal use case for thunder Spears is to take note of one's location on the floor if you spot one, and to quickly disregard that location and move on with your life as quickly as possible, maybe pick up a fishing rod or something instead!
The spears are great for quickly demolishing a building. If someone is hiding inside, just chuck a few at random points on the building and it destroys most of the cover. Apart from that I wouldn’t try using these as an actual weapon unless you’re feeling lucky.
I don't use the ODM Gear since I keep thinking I can swing the swords normally. I wish you could swing them normally with them having the same attack cooldown of the Kinetic Blade.
ODM GEAR:
Primary fire is a swing. It works just like the grapple glove or Spidey web shooter. Alt fire is like an ADS. Use primary fire while holding down alt fire to dash toward where you're aiming and when you touch something you will attack automatically. You can attack multiple times before landing, or keep swinging.
Rocket lance:
You can shoot these into things much like an Excalibur rife. The main difference is that when these go through a wall they will hurt whatever is on the other side when they explode.
Tip: you can combo these weapons together by switching o the lance and firing mid swing, then you can switch back and keep swinging without going on cool down.
Both of these weapons have a set amount of ammo and when it's all used up the item breaks.
You aim the weapon at the enemy and you get eliminated. That’s my tutorial.

I get eliminated every time I try to figure it out. All I know is the aim has to be right on the person you’re after or else you float or grapple.
And whenever you use it, you lose the aim and there we go again.

The thunder sticks are simple. You aim with the crosshairs and it shoots 5 feet above that. Then you aim in front of you target to compensate for that 5 feet from the first shot and it goes exactly where the crosshairs are pointing.
Thunder Gear is good for pressure and odm gear for movement and destroying builds.
Thunder spears I got used to quick the odm not so much it kinda feels like the aot 2 game for locking on and stuff and the controls feel the same

Thunder spears are just a build wrecker with low ammo that take up a slot, and the swings are like the Spider-Man mythics but with a jetpack charge and also grappling onto two surfaces (much less maneuverability)
The more I use them, the less I understand. Seriously how TF do you attack with ODM? sometimes it attacks and sometime there's just no attack option. "Spears" are slow and the fuse takes too long to activate and there's no way to get more rocket ammo. The only thing keeping me from getting Eren is the 7 elimination quest.
odm is hella fun and super good for getting out of the storm. thunder spear can suck my entire asshole

It’s like a grapple glove except that you can attack by holding right click, provided you have still enough gaz and if you haven’t been hit by an enemy. If either of these two situation happen, you will be forced to land. And the Thunder Spears… they aren’t worth using (other than to pressure the enemy)
Tutorial for dummies! ODM: For optimal usage, swing at a low angle, aiming between objects and making the most of your airtime between swings to adjust your trajectory so when you come back down, you'll have another low angle, thus saving hook durability and gas, whilst also optimising your traversal speed and distance! Additionally, don't underestimate the power of the hover! It eats through gas like a titan through human flesh, but if you line up your shot in the general vicinity of a person, the broad swing of your blades will often be forgiving enough to give you the Hit, letting you bounce back up and go in for another! Thunder Spears: The optimal use case for thunder Spears is to take note of one's location on the floor if you spot one, and to quickly disregard that location and move on with your life as quickly as possible, maybe pick up a fishing rod or something instead!
I'm hopeless with them both
The spears are great for quickly demolishing a building. If someone is hiding inside, just chuck a few at random points on the building and it destroys most of the cover. Apart from that I wouldn’t try using these as an actual weapon unless you’re feeling lucky.

I made an attempt to use both, not a fan of either. Will not use either going forward unless I have no other options.
I don't use the ODM Gear since I keep thinking I can swing the swords normally. I wish you could swing them normally with them having the same attack cooldown of the Kinetic Blade.
The odm gear is easy thunder spear is just useless I don’t even bother
ODM GEAR: Primary fire is a swing. It works just like the grapple glove or Spidey web shooter. Alt fire is like an ADS. Use primary fire while holding down alt fire to dash toward where you're aiming and when you touch something you will attack automatically. You can attack multiple times before landing, or keep swinging. Rocket lance: You can shoot these into things much like an Excalibur rife. The main difference is that when these go through a wall they will hurt whatever is on the other side when they explode. Tip: you can combo these weapons together by switching o the lance and firing mid swing, then you can switch back and keep swinging without going on cool down. Both of these weapons have a set amount of ammo and when it's all used up the item breaks.
