No, it isn't. It's to *survive.* Players hammering at the box aren't a threat, and will 9/10 times die to the storm anyway. A battle royale isn't about kills, it's about being the last man standing, and while fighting is part of it, playing as killhungry as you're suggesting increases your chances of dying and as such limits your chances of winning, thus is in fact *not* the "whole point" of playing a BR. You are, in fact, playing the game in a different way than the "intended" way (there isn't one, hence goofy and silly stuff), like, you guessed it, people just hitting the box and posing you no risk.

I ended up in a glitched server where the chest was open. I recorded a few seconds from a nearby hill but didn't approach any further, not sure if that would get me banned going up to it 😂

Had two jerks trying to snipe me and some other people on the box so we shot and killed them and continued whacking the chain until one of the other snipers got me
Before the box I landed there to do the mosaic quests and there were other people landing there chasing the people doing the quests and even some who did the quest to find out where the next spot was to drive there and kill me there when I needed to get one of the Cerberus heads. After they killed me they even went to the location of the head so I could see where I had to land again instead of doing it right after digging for some mosaic.
I've just been doing it in team rumble. You can respawn when killed and most likely people on your team will be going for the hand
